How to play Stuart Adamson’s guitar parts from Fields of Fire (live version). The studio version is in E, and the guitars were tuned up a whole tone, live it’s in D with regular tuning.
You are a man after my own heart, sir! STILL love this band after so many years. I remember exactly where I was when I first heard FoF - in a shitty shared house rental in Milnsbridge, W Yorks when I was a student at the Poly in Huddersfield. My girlfriend (and now my wife) was with me. It was about 6pm and it was played on Radio 1 by whoever the discerning DJ was at that time. Brilliant stuff! Totally original approach to the electric guitar. More interesting than The Edge (although he was a breath of fresh air too, TBF). Anyway... Excellent lesson. I'll give it a go. I don't have much in th way of effects for my guitar but I can get close(ish) I think to the sound. I am MOST grateful to you for his. Ive just subscribed. Cheers! PT x
That song floored me when I first heard it ♥️ didn't know who it was or what it was called , took me hrs of radio listening until I found it 😁 been playing guitar for years and had nae idea how to get those sounds 😮😮 so thank you very much mate 👍👍👍
Gracias bro ahora es de análisis est verdadera joya de sonido en ese entonces en los 80s había muchos guitarristas pero este era totalmente diferente . Y x hoy eslo.mejor que he escuchado X siempre big. Country

Dude ! Guitar porn !! The mighty SG-2000 !!! The most aesthetically beautiful guitar ever made ! You have this AND an MXR Transposer ! You must be rich like Abramovich ! :-)
Great stuff again, matey. Wonderful tone as well as skillful playing. As a lapsed bassist and even-more-lapsed guitarist, I'm just wondering if it's possible in that lead line to use a half-barre? (I think it's called that...so out of practice!) So, instead of leaping from the high E to the G string, just flattening your first finger across the three strings? It didn't look as though you had any open strings you were hitting in there.
Fender Showman 1x12 combo throughout. Korg SDD2000 delay switched in for the single note lines, and MXR Pitch Transposer detune on the very high notes.
Great tune and it sounds awesome but its difficult to see what frets you are playing as its quite fast in places . Any chance you could tab it or say what frets you are hitting on lead bits ?
I don’t write or use tab, but if you comment below with the minutes:seconds of the bits you’re needing help with I’ll give you some pointers. Or, if you click or tap the three little dots on the corner of the video screen, you can play the video slowed down - that’s often a really useful tool.
Fantastic! You've nailed it...and the guitar sound is spot on too!
Great stuff. And I love the fact that you played this on a Yamaha SG! (and a black one to boot!!)
thanks for making and uploading these.... I'm having a lot of fun learning my favourite tunes.

Great job! The way you isolate the verse parts sounds like Skids Charade he was playing 3 or 4 years prior 5:12
Great job with the videos. Do you know if Stuart played Big Country songs in standard tuning or D tuning? Just wondering
All standard tuning - as far as I can tell.
Brilliant, Thank you, and the right guitar, with the right sonic.
Do you play BC covers professionally?
Yes - Restless Natives (tribute to Big Country). Some of our clips are on my channel here, more on the dedicated Restless Natives channel.
@@marshallheadkt66 May i ask if you have a website, manager, tour dates?

You probably could - I tend to blur the notes a bit if I do that, so just used the little jump to try and keep the notes clean.
If I even get my old guitar out I might put your video on half speed and try to play along! Cheers!
You’ve totally nailed Stuart’s sound there. Brilliant. What gear are you using please?

@@marshallheadkt66 Thanks. Great job pulling all the different parts out of the song. It makes me even more in awe of how talented Stuart was.

@@marshallheadkt66 it’s ok I slowed it down like you said and got it all thx. Great lesson by the way 👍👍👍
When you start the intro you say open a d 12 fret but it looks like 7th fret
You’re right, it is the 7th fret. Can you tell I do these in one take? 😂
