Last week we sat down with Detroit artist FMB DZ for an exclusive “Off The Porch” interview! During our conversation he talked about life in Detroit, being apart of the wave that jumpstarted the Detroit rap wave, growing up on the Westside, jumping off the porch, performing at his 5th grade graduation, always wanting to be an entertainer, taking a leap of faith by quitting his job to do music full-time, his song “Truth” getting over 7 million views, reveals how FMB was formed, explains why he never signed with a major label, partnering with EMPIRE, knowing Sada Baby for over 6 years, their chemistry when recording together, his creative process, “Rock Wit Us” with Sada blowing up, working with Rio Da Yung OG, doing a collab album with Philthy Rich, Detroit’s impact & influence on the culture, his new album ‘Back On Track’, being uninspired during the pandemic, his song “2k22” being well received, how being humble is a gift & a curse, shares some advice for the youth, sacrifices he had to make to be successful, goals for 2022, and much more!
