We recently sat down with New Orleans native Calliope Var for an exclusive “Off The Porch” interview! During our conversation he talked about his experience growing up in Calliope, witnessing Master P filming the ‘I’m Bout It’ movie, his hobbies as a kid, jumping off the porch when he was 14, studying the game before he jumped off the porch, his keys to making it out of his environment, giving game to the youth, getting Mr. Marcelo & Curren$y on his first record, the song getting radio play a week after it was released, getting 3 beats for a pound of weed, getting C-Murder on one of his first songs, looking at rapping as a hustle, learning he couldn’t have one foot in & one foot out with music, explains how he connected with BlaqNminD, recording “Uptown” with B.G., putting Juvenile on the song, connecting with Master P, bringing Ace B47 & BlaqNmilD to P, giving back to his community with P, the Calliope Projects being torn down, the music scene in New Orleans right now, his song “The Only One” w/ Curren$y & Cam’ron, his mixtape ‘Hoodstar’, getting locked up in 2014, taking a step back from music when he came home, reveals how Kingg Tokyo’s passing effected him, linking with 5lugga & DJ Dow Jones, working with Mac since he came home, working with JT The Bigga Figga on his first movie ‘Big Dog’, following up with his movie ‘Superish’, upcoming film projects, introduces the Hot Boys of Comedy, putting together their tour, the comedy crowds in New Orleans, and much more!

My problems stemmed from West and South west Philly but, still it’s not the sections of the city, it’s the people.
