This is a great fit, Momoko Okazaki most definitely earned this, she worked for this moment, put everything in this, and now she is Momometal, yes, this does make sense.
If you ever see Momoko perform with Babymetal, even as a dancer, she has an infectious personality, she has a beautiful smile, has a charm about her, and, simply put, she just seems to love and enjoy what she is doing on stage.
Being a member of Sakura Gakuin is a major benefit, this powerhouse group molded these three women into the talent they are today. Not to mention being from the great academy makes it even more meaningful. And not too many people can say that they can keep up with Moa Kikuchi when it comes to her dancing abilities, I've noticed that she has at times outdanced Su-metal a few times, but Momometal can actually stay step for step with Moametal, which only those from Sakura Gakuin would be able to do.
I'm hoping Yui Mizuno is doing well and is enjoying her life, I will ALWAYS love her to no end, but I believe even Tomato-kun would approve of this.

I've been advocating for her to be made a full member as well. The only thing missing from her in the last 5 years is a microphone! Regardless , she sang or lip-sang to every song, with perfect timing. I really found it both absurd and aggravating , that she was not fitted for a mic set up. What is the big deal? We were not going to love the former Yui any less. Very silly and stupid decision to do that. I am glad she was officially chosen, but then again, shes been here all the time. Can't wait for her to spread her wings a bit, show her talents and input with Moa & SU 🥰
I'm hoping the hard core BM fans accept her. Its time to move on. Yui will always be in our hearts. but the show must go on. Momoko was the right choice. 😍
Glad you emphasized that Momo has earned this. I mean, she's basically been auditioning for it for five years! In a lot of videos of the more recent live performances, you can clearly see her singing along, and it's great to see her hard work being acknowledged.
I have to agree, the dynamic since they became a duo + 1 has been... off. Su is undeniably the lead in the group, but Moa wound up in this weird position of 'first among equals' that just seemed... awkward.
I would also love to see them revisit some BLACK BABYMETAL songs. I've seen Moa do some of them solo recently and wouldn't mind seeing new duet versions with more mature vocals. MO' BABYMETAL for a new sub-unit name? 'Mo' being the first sylable of both their names, but also as a shortening of 'more'. Japan do be liking their wordplay and double meanings.

I'm not a Babymetal expert, but I like them a lot, and more after seeing them Fall 2019 on their US tour. They were rotating a couple or 3 substitutes for Yui at that time and I saw Momoko at my show. I was super impressed with her energy and attitude. I am happy she got the spot.

On the official photo you can see they changed her hair her bangs are now sideswept and half of her hair is down and two buns are now 2 small pigtails. It’s a combination of the avengers hairstyle and Yui and Moa’s

From the perspective of a long time Babymetal fan, I'm glad to see Momoko finally be recognised as an official member of the band. She had been supporting them and filling in for Yui for literally years. It was clear that if Yui wasn't going to return after the one year hiatus that Momo was going to have to be initiated into the band as its new third member, and rightfully so. She definitely earned it. I loved Yui as much as anyone else, but that ship has sailed. I wish Yui the best of luck going forward and also looking forward to see Momoko shine as the official third member of the group.

Thank you so much for this news and breakdown! I feel that Momoka will complement Moa nicely and she seems to be high energy and exuberant, making her a good match. I will say that I hope they leave her hair down. She's way taller than Moa so the twin factor is long out the door, and I think people will accept her more if she isn't "force-fit" into Yui's old spot. Moa's dancing has improved substantially - she's a lot more poised and self-controlled on stage and she looks great dancing with Momoko - they're very fluid and graceful but also maintain the high energy and exuberance that we expect from our support team. Welcome, Momo-metal!!!
Thank you! Yes, I am looking forward to seeing more of Momo, but she has all the right training and has mixed it with seemingly the right attitude. It almost feels less like she "joined" Babymetal as just transferred over from another part of SG lol. She very much feels like a part of the group already, so it's wonderful to hear she's doing so well and being recognised. Thank you for your comment!

OMG I'm soooooooo made up for Momoko to be officially an equal part of the group!!! I always felt a bit bad that she was almost like a "temp" for so long, but additionally that Moametal was in the shadow of Sumetal despite it basically being a duo since Yui departed.
All that said, I think the BM "machine" has gone about it as well as they could have. I think any earlier (e.g. Fox Day last year) might have been too early for some, but any later than now would have made it beyond uncomfortable.
I know it wouldn't happen in public, but imagine if Yui came out with a public and sincere congratulations for Momoko! I think my heart would explode lol!!
Agreed on all point :) . I suspect though that Yui is smiling and enjoying watching this, and maybe would say nothing just not to distract from Momo's moment. She absolutely has done her on-the-job training though :D ! Welcome Momo!

I really hope they start giving her a mic now, cause from the little I've seen of her performances outside of Babymetal, she has a good voice.
I loved the concept at the beginning but struggled a bit with the age of the members back toward the beginning. Seeing this band grow and mature, I feel more at eased, and much more entertained by this group's performance... it has come a long way, and it is only getting better. This is a band that is truly one hard not to like, if not, hard not to love.
I loved Yui also, but its not healthy to constantly live in the past. The best thing u can do is show your love and support towards Momo. Think of all the weight that is on HER shoulders. Time to move on dude!

Momoko has definitely earned the spot. I've been advocating for her to be made a full member for a couple of years. I'm very happy for her and her fans. But as a fan of Yui I'm torn. It's both good and bad to finally put an end to the constant speculation, but knowing the Yui era has officially ended is sad and removing the Yui skull from their logo was a real kick in the teeth. That said, all I really want for Yui is for her to be happy. I hope she is.
And if anyone is going to take Yui's spot in BM, I suppose it's only apt that it's the same girl who took her spot in Mini-Pati 🙂
She also knows all the dances, the fans are familiar with her and she is well liked, and she also is integrated with the Babymetal team. I would like to see her get equal screen time, have a mic and the twin tails. She just turned 20 and maybe it was time to renew her contract so that could be why they chose to do it now, assuming they have 5 year contracts 10- 15 SG, 15-20 Avenger, 20 -> Babymetal
According to many fans at the latest live on FOX DAY, it was mind-blowing, so am looking forward to a BLu-ray of this performance as well as seeing this new BABYMETAL live.
While it would have been great if Yuimetal had stayed with Babymetal and she didn't have her health problem, etc...
I'm very happy we finally have all roles filled again, so we can have the full sound. For example with a performance of Karate. You can hear one voice is missing to complete the full song.

Agreed, although I do understand how some felt led to believe she might return, in reality I didn't feel it was realistic and Momo has been a part of the group without credit for several years now, so I think they handled the change very well. I am certainly excited for the Momometal era too :) !

Congrats to Momoko but i'm curious, what about the other dancers that play with Babymetal? I know that they are sometimes alternating dancers before this announcement.
Kano has been promoting with her group OneFive and Riho has been releasing her solo stuff, so Momoko is really the only one of the avengers not doing other things.
There were three supporting dancers called "avengers" starting with the first show of 2019.
Riho Sayashi signed with the talent agency "Japan Music Entertainment" in September 2020 and has been pursuing a solo career.
Kano Fujihira is pretty busy with her new group @onefive.
Momoko Okazaki has been the only avenger since February 14th, 2020.

They Held a concert at the PIA arena April 1st and it was announced at the end of the show
So sorry I didn't clarify that better! Yes, as Harry said, it was done via a big video screen at their live show. I would have shared that footage, but understandably the record company is limiting access to the footage of the show. I assume they intend to make a DVD or online thing of it :)
Wonder what happened to Oogi Saki of Sakura Gakuin. She was a dork and would have been a great addition to Babymetal.

I've now had my attention drawn to an article. Nene -don ( Sugisaki Nene graduated as a nurse last year. There is a pic. She is still so recognizable.
I feel like all of the SG members are probably finding the most logical route forwards. It is difficult to know what they will want as they grow and what changes will come along, but I am happy to see so many have found such productive and positive paths forward in the world. I feel like we should have a decadal SG checkup :D
@BakaBroadcast You are so right. SG and Sensei Mori distilled such a sense of resilience in them all. Ayami chan tried very hard with her singing career. It's a great pity it never really took off. She was also imo the most beautiful girl in SG.
I'm glad for Momoko, but still disappointed that it wasn't Yui. I hope that Momoko pairs with Moa in a new double act and we also now get some more Su solos otherwise there will have been no real change.
Yui is still under contract to Amuse and that has fueled a lot of the speculation around her, so now I hope we get either an announcement about her final retirement or news of a future project rather than the current limbo of the bizarre continuing contract without any public appearances.

Thanks for the comment and I do totally get this. I think it is understandable that Babymetal have changed over time and that people will shift away from them not out of hate, just that people do grow apart from artists. I think Yui's departure unfortunately gave a moment that could be seen as pivotal to that change, when it was kind of on the way slowly for a while.
Like you, I do also think that Babymetal's strongest suit is that mixture of the JPop fun with the heavy metal rawness. I do understand they couldn't keep that going in the same form forever (age, risking "gimick" label), but the Black Babymetal concept was a great way of giving the band two sides, and allowing one of them to be focused on that kind of silly fun that stops Babymetal getting too dark.
Although Momoko might not be for everyone's taste, I really do hope to see her singing some songs with Moa that give us a second side back to Babymetal. A less serious alternative face to the group that just returns some of that levity.
I have really enjoyed their recent work, although I do totally accept that the production focus is not for everyone, but I will be very excited to have some of the crazy injected back in again. I think Momoko can do that :)

I've loved the grown-up sound of The Other One. - on the flip-side, It'd be great to inject some of that cheeky charm that set BabyMetal apart in the early days. - WD Momo, you earned that spot in the lineup, and the timing was perfect. - BM start a fresh chapter of an already very exciting and varied book. The twin vocals from the first 2 albums needed the voice live, moa with doubling effects wasnt cutting it.

PIA is pronounced like "pee-ah." In Japan, the main ticketing agency is Ticket-Pia. I think they have the naming rights for that arena.

I agree, I think in a way, they gave time to make Momoko a member in all but name so that, when the official announcement way made, they hit the ground running. Great to see though :)
I was thinking how they build things up and then deliver what we all expected. But I can understand the reason for the long drawn out delay in the announcement if it was to allow the new songs and album to have time to be consumed and digested by fans and just those with a passing interest. I doubt anybody will have any doubts over Momo Metal and it will be interesting just how safe or different Baby Metal decide to be when they go on from here. After the big build up to the new songs left me feeling undecided. I am relieved that Baby Metal will return as the gateway music drug that led many of us onto the other great Japanese bands we have since discovered.
I don't wanna be disrespectful to Momo and I'm happy, she finally made it, but deep deep inside, I'm still grieving Yui's loss. Well, she will help, to finally get over Yui and I'm looking forward to a great future...damn.. 43yrs old and babbeling about a band....haha...yolo

Im not 100% sure, but I would have to work on the good faith that she will in future. It may be just a soft introduction, especially considering her voice is quite distinctive. Still, I agree, microphone should have been on her if it wasn't, 100%
From what I've read she wasn't announced as Momometal until they did all the lore stuff at the end of the concert, so for this concert she was still the Avenger, the next concert is the start of the new BABYMETAL with her as a full fledged member.

It would feel way better to let Yui go and welcome Momoko, if there would have been some information from Yui and her real reasons for leaving the band. No need to go into health details, or contract situations or anything like that, just some sentences from her that there are no hard feelings left. Because to me with all that mystery around her leaving like it went down, I always wondered if there was a major dispute.
As Mondlichts said, it's none of our business. Japan is highly respectful of privacy. While in the Western world, details of the private lives of celebrities are plastered all over the tabloids, in Japan, they only report what has been officially announced. I recall a foreign reporter being blacklisted in Japan for reporting about a pregnancy in the imperial family before it was announced, even though it was a public secret. So, if Yui doesn't want to talk about it, it's none of our business.
We all loving this great news (not Yui bross of course), and Momoko-chan really deserves this spot, but i don't think Black Babymetal will be back with her and Moa, this is a new BM and the old BM songs with more kawaii metal style will be performed by the new young BM unit, at least that's what apparently looks like. We'll see tomorrow during the Clear Night because like always OTFGK 🦊🤘🍑
The morning of the day I had for the 3rd show. I was sad and it lacked the insane perfection. There were three in the beginning and the ways you can adjust 3 is wider. On stage there is no rest but 5 minutes sitting back or duets they can pop it in the master computer and Ooot there it is. Still waiting for a full scale tour. Two hours a set should be possible and launch them out in a vengeance.. ,,, Oh yeah, all in good fun ,,
I stop following because got tred of the format. I was hoping for Yui and Moa to have solo or fronted songs. At least one each. That would made things fresher
I totally understand that. I think it is natural for some people to grow away from a project naturally over time. Music is subjective after all. I wonder if Momoko will make an interesting difference that might also bring in some new fans? We'll wait to see I think :)

Agree with so much of what you say. I'm wondering how long this has been a 'done deal' but kept secret? seeing as Riho Sayashi had launched her solo career and Kano Fujihira had launched with One-Five. Stable door flapping open, guys, who was left? a wise metal-head with connections told me the silence surrounding Yui was 'undoubtedly contractual' so we hope to see her pop up under her own name now, not returning to Babymetal.
It is possible that Yui surrendered the spot because she was about to do something herself so that allowed them to give her spot to Momoko, but we can speculate all we like and probably will never know

With Riho and Kano doing their own things, Momoko was the ONLY choice, and she fits like a well-made glove.

I have waffled about this in a few other videos, but to me, the silence could mean anything, but most likely just means she decided she had done her bit of fame and is now just enjoying a quiet life. Perhaps sitting back and watching all of this unfold with a happy smile and a good bank account ;) . I hope and believe she is well :)

I just don't know who this new Babymetal is for. It seems like it's for the people who don't like the old Babymetal. I don't know if it's going to please anyone.
It would probably attract new fans. I like all the early Babymetal songs, but I sure as hell don't want to keep doing the same style as before. Those songs were appropriate for their age. They're now in the mid 20s. The music should evolve with the girls as they grow into adults. In fact I would find it very creepy if they continue doing songs like Gimme Chocolate.

Two interesting comments in this thread. Regarding "who it is for", I think that is really open for interpretation. Personally I feel that they are returning the original 3-point dynamic to the group. Therefore, I think it is for people who liked the musical dynamic and what that meant in regards to the arrangements they could do. That was a little lost of recent where more pressure and focus was put on Su kind of being given more prominance than Moa.
Regarding the "maturity" aspect Maple brought up. I think the band has been aware of that since the second album. They have shifted towards a more traditionally grownup look and sound. That said, I think it is ok to keep an element of innocence so long as it is self-aware. Momoko seems to be bright and cheery in nature and I can imagine her keeping the fun element that Babymetal need in order to still be light hearted without playing towards any creepy tricks :D

@Baka Broadcast What is the point of having Idols in front if they're not going to be Idols? Maybe they have a plan I just don't see it yet. It just seems like they are becoming a regular metal band and I don't think the pieces fit. Former Idols + session musicians = metal band? That doesn't inspire confidence.
@@Jordan-Ramses At the core, I totally agree with your premise, and I have often said that the idol group elements delivered some of my favourite BabyMetal moments. Infact, I often take flack from regulars here for saying there is too much copy/paste metal.
So, I think the only point I would add to that here is that I still feel they are different enough to be unique, despite scaling back on some of those elements. The focus more on Japanese female (non metal) vocals, alongside staff written songs that can vary hugely in style compared to self-writing bands, All that combined with a singing and dancing stage show, I would struggle to imagine Babymetal, especially with a new third, becoming just another metal group.
That said, I do still agree that they have scaled back some of the quirky edges, and I hope Momoko brings them back in those directions a little more, and with a new style. Just my thought, and maybe I am an optimist :D , but I feel like this is a step in that direction hopefully.

I haven't listened to the whole album yet, do we hear Momoko sing at all?
She's not on The Other One. She wasn't a member yet. I'm sure we can expect her on the next one, which I think we won't have to wait too long for.

I'm really glad that it's Momoko, everything else would have been unfair. And I just recently noticed in recent live videos that the synchronicity between the girls' dance moves is exceptional. More so than in Yui's era, I'd have to say.
Absolutely feel she has completed her on-the-job training with exceptional flying colours :D !!

I've heard Night 2 at PIA arena ( the next night after being announced as a member ) she was mic'd up and singing backing vocals

As I have said elsewhere I am happy to see they kept the members all being from Sakura Gakuin, having been a fan of SG Babymetal is the last part of it still going. Momoko also took over the Minipattie role from Yui before she Graduated. I'm sure as Howard said in his other video, Yui is sat at home smiling seeing a fellow member of SG take over the role.
Yui will always be part of Babymetal and won't be forgotten and she will get everyone's support if she chooses to start a solo career. Other than that we can only hope she is healthy and happy doing what she wants to.

Scream and Dance have always been Yui and Moa title within Babymetal. So MomoMetal being named Scream and Dance fills me with confidence as I have always said that no matter how good she is Moa sound thin abd weak doing backing vocals on her own.
I now want to seem the M&M version of Sis Anger and GJ ( 4 no Uta and Onedari daisakusen should be re-retired )
with Momo I wonder if they will come out with a new Black babymetal song, or can we hope to see a Momobanger version since she's 20 and Su and Moa also did special versions when they turned 20

Koba tried to troll us that Babymetal was ending, only to swerve us with the new lineup. Momo was the obvious choice, no-one I spoke to at the show really thought Yui was coming back, and the crowd roared when Momometal was announced.
That is great! Yeah, I only saw a cam recording, but I am so glad to know the fans are embracing her because she has put in the work :)
@@BakaBroadcast When they performed Babymetal Death during the encore on the second night and Momoko said "Momometal death!" everyone lost their shit. It was so good.
I don't really see the point adding her. Only because since Yui left its basically just Su. Moa once again doesn't sign any songs on this album and until the 10 year anniversary they didn't even have her sing the old songs. She's been relegated as a backup dancer.
If she doesn't sing, I agree, but I believe they are getting her on vocals, so hopefully something will be added with her presence 🤞

-same for divine attack in last chorus

haven't felt motivated to listen to the new album but glad they're moving forward.
i wanted them to become a band but it's okay if they continue to be an LDH-esque idol unit (=lead vocalist(s)+pro level dancer members) with a metal backing band but now with 3 former SG members again, I think it could be interesting if they did a few metal arrangement covers of SG songs here and there plus if that were to be the case, they have more backing vocals (not just scream/dance) to further support the lead vocals.
Could have done this four years ago… 🙄

The way I got it Babymetal broke up and is no longer touring so who cares if they picked someone to be the third member. Kind a like buying new tires for a car that is wrecked, what's the point.

They are doing 87 concerts this year, 2x European tour, US tour, Australia and SEA tour closing the year with shows in Japan.
I think a lot of bm Fans misunderstood us yui Fans: we of course didnt really expect to See her back after so much stuff...its just we are very angry at koba for mismanaging her for years and no one says a thing if you do you get insulted. She is still under amuse which doesnt make any sense to me since she most likely doesnt want to become a singer anymore, all this solo career wish was just Bluff from koba to shut us up. And then there is the question is she under amuse of her free will or is she being forced to stay in the Company???? If its force thats just really fucked up and i hope she can free herself as soon as possible!!! Koba please stop mistreating yui!!! I even sometimes wondered if she died or something cause they talk about her like shes gone
