The Execution of the Romanovs

  • The most realistic recreation of the murder of the Romanov Royal Family ever made on video. Around 2.00 am on July 17th, Yakov Yurovsky, the commandant of the Ipatiev house, the “House of Special Purpose”, ordered the Romanovs’ physician, Dr. Eugene Botkin, to awaken the sleeping family and ask them to put on their clothes, under the pretext that they would be moved to a safe location due to impending chaos in Yekaterinburg.
The Romanovs were then ordered into a semi-basement room. Alexei could not walk down the stairs, due to a recent injury, and Nicholas carried him in his arms. Two chairs were brought, on which Tsarevich Alexei and Alexandra sat. The prisoners were told to wait in the cellar room while the truck that would transport them was being brought to the house. A few minutes later, an execution squad was brought in and Yurovsky read aloud the order of the execution given to him by the Ural Executive Committee. The Imperial family, Tsar Nicholas II, his wife Tsarina Alexandra and their five children Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, and Alexei, as well as all those who chose to accompany them into imprisonment -notably Dr Eugene Botkin, Anna Demidova, Alexei Trupp and Ivan Kharitonov- were shot, bayoneted and clubbed to death. The massacre that took place was utterly brutal and lasted around 20 minutes,* before all victims were killed.
*Note: The murder in the video takes only a few seconds, but in reality it was a long and frightening procedure. It is described in all details in the book “The Romanov Royal Martyrs: What Silence Could Not Conceal”.
    17 July 1918
Around 3.00 am, in the morning of July 17, Yurovsky with his men and Ermakov headed for Koptyaki forest, where a mineshaft was prepared for the disposal of the bodies. When they reached the forest and started unloading the bodies, Ermakov’s men started to ransack the pockets of the victims. Yurovsky threatened he would shoot anyone who stole anything from the bodies.
Yurovsky undressed the bodies and removed all the valuables that were found on them. He then burned the clothes. The men lowered the bodies into the mineshaft, which turned out to be very shallow. They decided to use explosives, so that the inner walls would break and cover up the bodies. It was already daylight. This didn’t work and Yurovsky decided that the bodies should be transferred to another place the following night. He then returned to Ekaterinburg to report to the Soviet.
    18 July 1918
Yurovsky returned to the mineshaft around 4:00 am. By morning they had exhumed the bodies from the shaft with the intention of transferring them to a deeper mineshaft. [On the way, the automobile carrying the bodies broke down. The bodies were put on wagons and Yurovsky returned to the town on horseback to bring new automobiles.]* He returned to the forest at 21.30 pm with two trucks. The bodies were loaded on the trucks and headed for the mineshafts. It was after midnight.
    19 July 1918
The trucks got stuck again in a swamp. [Yurovsky decided to burn two of the bodies and bury the rest right there. Maria and Alexei were set on fire while a pit was being dug.]* The bodies were then thrown into the pit, smashed and chopped with shovels, and finally doused with sulfuric acid. The pit was covered up, cross ties were laid on top, and the truck drove over it several times to level it. [Near the spot were the bodies of Maria and Alexei were burned, another pit was dug and the remains of the two children were laid in there.]*
*The facts described in the brackets […] are not presented in the video. A full detail account of all the facts is presented in the forthcoming book "The Romanov Royal Martyrs".
This video is produced as part of the project for the book "The Romanov Royal Martyrs”, which is an impressive 512-page book, featuring nearly 200 black & white photographs, and a 56-page photo insert of more than 80 high-quality images, colorized by the acclaimed Russian artist Olga Shirnina (Klimbim) and appearing here in print for the first time.

Been viewing these horrific reenactments for 2 days now and cannot come to grips with this very real portion of human history. The absolute terror and fear they must've felt upon realizing what was about to happen to them! Innocent lives, unprotected by current laws that existed for all and everyone--regardless! Shot, bludgeoned, stripped of clothing, chopped, burnt-- 1) fire 2) sulfuric
acid and finally, dynamite. If the executioners had any belief in G-d or goodness, enjoyed never again-- a full nor good night's rest, thereafter! Mental torture became their bedfellows! They carried out the deed and not the ones who gave the order. I hope and pray, that upon the death of those who gave the orders, we're met at Heaven's gate, by the Romanovs, with G-d Himself--watching.

What did his children and the other individuals who are with them ever do to deserve to be mercilessly killed like that. Correct me if I'm wrong please, but didn't the family have pets with them when they were killed. I for sure remember hearing that they had a dog that also died with them. This show is so realistic I felt like I was there. The Czar and Czarina were spoiled, elite, out of touch with their people and under the spell of a madman. But they were not evil. They certainly did not deserve death, and especially not the children. The love they had for each other and their courage at the end all things will be remembered throughout the ages. I wonder who they came back as.

What evil spell are you talking about miserable fool, wake up. What are you talking about, wake up. What spell of an evil man are you talking about; the Czar and Czarina were great people their only fault is that they were too gentle and never knew how to use force when they should have like their predecessors, instead the Czarina during WWI opened a section of the winter palace and transformed it as a hospital to treat wounded soldiers and she used to do that herself with the oldest three young grandduchesses healing her and that was at time when no other royalty anywhere thought of doing anything like that. As for the Czar he used to lead the army himself at a time when all other royalties were hiding in their palaces as the war was raging throughout Europe. Stop repeating the satanic lies of the marxists like an idiot.

The Czar, at least, is certainly debatable. He took up the mantle of unelected absolute Monarch despite knowing he was incapable of the job, because he believed that much is his "divine birthright" to rule over others without them having any say. His incompetence was already getting innocent people killed before he was even done being coronated, and judging by his callousness, you can't even call him a benevolent dictator, either. he was a good family man, maybe, but that doesn't absolve him of his tyranny and crimes against the people he ruled over.

I recently finished reading your most wonderful book, thank you. I have shown it to all my family, friends and passers-by (if I am sitting in a park reading) - especially the magnificent collection of coloured photographs.
The descriptive characterisation of each of the family members was brilliant and uplifting; the political developments as Nicholas was betrayed by traitors and cowards, dramatic and moving.
The description of the murders of the family and their retinue was gut-wrenching and sickening - it is impossible to comprehend that such anti-human evil can and still does exist and thrive.
I do have just one major concern. I was left quite flat with the closing tribute by Sir Winston Churchill, “perhaps the greatest statesman of the twentieth century”.
Firstly, I didn’t think it was much of a ‘tribute’:
    • “to the supreme responsible authority belongs the blame or credit …”
    • “In spite of errors vast and terrible …”
and secondly, having researched the despicable Churchill, I would not attribute the word ‘statesman’ to this often drunk and belligerent schemer and warmonger. Without his perseverance on behalf of his financial handlers (eg Henry Strakosch and Frederick Lindeman) there would have been no WWII. Mention of his name does great discredit to the memory of St Nicholas II and his family, and I hope you might consider revising this last page in future editions.

No justification to be murdered with such cruelty. I can’t help but wonder what Russia would be like today. I hope we can learn from the past, live in the present, and hope for the future. @@r3v773 The russian revolution that actually overthrew the czar occurred in 1917 and it was not lead by the Bolsheviks. This was the actual revolution and it brought the semi democratic provisional government under Alexander Kerensky to power. This revolution is the actual revolution that ended czarism and had the family put under house arrest. The Bolshevik coup actually occurred against this provisional government some years later. Thus, the Bolsheviks weren't responsible for ending czarism and the resulting Bolshevik government was not an actual representative of the Russian revolution or the anti-czarism movement of Russia. They overthrew the provisional government, the legitimate child of the Russian revolution. Furthermore, this so called "dictatorship of the proletarian" was responsible for thwarting a rising democratic state that would have matured under the provisional government in the 1920s. This would have led to an established Eurasian democracy in our day.
Lenin came sometime after the revolution has occurred, bought the allegiance of the local council of workers in moscow through his speech "all power to the council (soviets)" (he had been known as a dissident for some 20 years by then but he was not the only figure in Russia at the time) and through their help carried a coup d'état against the provisional government a few years later. This triggered a civil war in Russia and the Bolsheviks organized an army out of their followers and actually took power after some 4 years of fighting various armies. So they were usurpers who took power through a coup against the actual child of the revolution, the provisional government, and through a civil war against the various armies that arose due to that coup. And conflating their ghastly rule to justify the other ghastly rule of the czar is historical dishonesty that forgot the promise of the semi-democratic provisional government. You should compare the provisional government with the czar. And then compare the provisional government with the Bolsheviks. And the Russian revolution gave mandate to the provisional government who promised elections and parliamentary rule not to the autocracy of the soviets or the czar. There is no doubt in the mind of all the Russian people who carried out the first actual revolution (majority of them have no involvement with lenin and his entourage, an impossible proposal in a national revolution) and installed the provisional government that the czar and his family deserved nothing less than execution. And they gave their allegiance to the provisional government not the violent Bolshevik mass murderers who ruled by cowering and dismantling the provisional government first and then the people next.
So what basically happened in Russia goes something like this
      - Ghadafi(the czar) was overthrown and the UN backed government got installed in Tripoli after a revolution of the Libyan people. This government had plans for elections and had the support of the majority of the Libyan people. It was semi democratic at best and Libyans believed ghadaffi deserved his fate(I personally dont think ghadaffi was as bad as the czar but I am not Libyan so I can not know deeply) Forget about US intervention in our allegory also. Two years later Isis took over libya through a coup and we can guess how bad this would be if decades passed. People like you will then say ghadaffi was good. This is really what happened in russia.

@Blue Toile ....The actual order to murder the Tsar and his family came from New York Banker Jacob Schiff, Lenin and Trotsky had no say in the matter. Schiff is the same person who had Trotsky as a personal guest in New York City before the revolution, before giving Trotsky 20 million in gold and making sure his puppet, President Woodrow Wilson got him his passport and all the necessary paperwork to get him to Russia for the Revolution. Schiff is also the person who arranged a 200 million dollar loan to Japan to fund them so they could fight against Russia in the war in 1905, ironically when they attempted the first revolution. Do you smell a rat yet? Furthermore, they never intended to put Nicholaus on trial, because they would have had to prove him guilty of something, and he was guilty of nothing. Communists find you guilty with the media they control, so anything they do is justified.
