    No one buys 777-8! Boeing in big trouble again. Here’s Why
    Do you feel confused when an aircraft contains many new breakthroughs in aerodynamics and engines but it is not enthusiastically sought after by airlines? Well, the Boeing triple 7 dash 8 is Boeing's newest wide-body aircraft and the world's largest twin-engine aircraft in production but sales are pathetic. There was even consideration of whether the manufacturer should cancel the jet.
    So what's going on? Why doesn't anyone buy the Boeing triple 7 dash 8? Let’s find out in today’s episode!
    But before we start, if you haven't subscribed to our channel yet, please like, comment, and subscribe so you'll be the first to see our next videos. Now, let’s dive in!
    No one buys 777-8! Boeing in big trouble again. Here’s Why. The dash 8 is a part of the triple 7X family, which is the next development in the hugely successful Boeing triple 7 series. Though it has many new features, its new engines and wings are the most noticeable. It has the GE9x, the biggest and strongest turbofan in the planet. Additionally, its new composite wing is the largest that Boeing has ever designed; in fact, it requires folding wing tips in order to fit through most airport gates. There are two different flavors available for the triple 7x: dash 8 and dash 9.
    No one buys 777-8! Boeing in big trouble again. Basically, these two aircraft are almost identical. The difference is that the dash 8 has a reduced fuselage of 70.86 meters while the dash 9 is 76.72 meters. The plane can accommodate 395 passengers in a 2-class configuration. Boeing launched the dash 8 to the market with the intention of making it ready to replace the older triple 7-300 ER. The 300 ER couldn't have been more successful as it became the second best-selling wide car of all time. That's why many eyes are waiting for dash 8 to sell as well as its predecessor. It's safe to say that there is a market for a plane of this size to jump into. But reality shows that only 40 of them have been sold, accounting for only 10% of total Triple 7X sales. So why is the triple 7 dash 8 so difficult to sell?

    I bet airbus could build a clean sheet design the same size as the 777-9 and have it certified before Boeing releases theirs.

    97 777-8 have been sold, 43 passenger aircraft and 55 freighters. The two aircraft are identical except for the cargo door and strengthened floor of the freighter. Unnecessary windows, emergency exists and doors are plugged. The aircraft are built on the same production line. The 777-8F is an essential model. Any 777-8 pax and BBJ sales are cream. There are about 550 747-400F, 747-8F and 777Fs to be replaced eventually. If Boeing gets half the 777-8 is worth the investment.

    The worst experience I ever had flying was in a B777. 12 hours in a sardine can with Air France. Airbus aircraft are so much more comfortable.

      No it does not lol. The 900ulr seats like 150 passengers… those range numbers stated by airbus are not valid, the a350-1000 only does 16000km with like 238 passengers, the a350 is also underpowered especially the -1000. 777-8 will do 16000km with 350 passengers.

  • @davidajayi1207
    @davidajayi1207 Před měsícem +1

    It doesn’t create more drag, it just makes engine performance worse which means the airplane creates less lift, so you need excess thrust

  • @jeremydee5424
    @jeremydee5424 Před měsícem +1

    If memory serves me correctly….the frames for both versions have no or very little composites and thus making it heavier and not fuel efficient…thus making the -8 kind of like or the same phenomenon as the 330-800.

  • @davidajayi1207
    @davidajayi1207 Před měsícem +1

    The -9 has better economics than the -8, the -8 is intended for ultra long haul flights. It’s not a replacement for the 300er. It is shorter by about. 4 meters than the 300er, the -9 is the 300er replacement

  • @1chish
    @1chish Před měsícem +2

    Just IMHO but why order an aircraft that has been delayed so many times, has yet to be certified and the first deliveries are not scheduled until 2026. Add in Boeing's freefall in quality and safety so even the brand is working against the 777X.
    The major issue for the 777X is the Airbus A350. A proven aircraft in full service with reliable delivery dates. So the 777-800 flies 8,745 Nmi? The A350-900 accommodates 300-350 passengers in a standard three-class configuration, and flies ultra-long-range routes of up to 9,700 Nmi (18,000km) non-stop.

    • @davidajayi1207
      @davidajayi1207 Před měsícem

      Those a350-900 numbers are not valid, it does about 14500km with about 300 passengers. The ulr variant does 18000 with like 150-160 passengers… let’s not forget that it doesn’t have good cargo capabilities.

    It seems that there are some secrets kept by all parties leading to this mess. I believe the newly designed jumbo jets are not survivable if one of their engines fails on take off or initial climb in every case, one engine does not have enough power. In the case of the A380, even 3 engines could not do it. We also know what happened to Concord.

    Even though on paper the 777x is a superb aircraft, I don't think that we can underestimate the effect of the A350.
    No doubt the fanboys will use stats to 'prove' thier choice is better with little regard to real world realities.
    One killer fact which cannot however be denied, is that one is not yet available and has no guaranteed dates, while the other is in production.
    The more A350 sales there are, the more likely those airlines with A350s in their fleet are to buy more A350s rather than the 777x.
    The delays to the 777x must have cost dearly. This must make the profitability of the program at best disappointing. Not only that, but there are already talks of an A350neo, an effective but relatively cheap and quick upgrade, which I am sure that once suitable engines become available could be rapidly adopted. Could this make the 777x be significantly less efficient than an A350neo? Could it even force a premature 777x re-engine just to compete?

    • @davidajayi1207
      @davidajayi1207 Před měsícem

      The 777x engines are a generation ahead of the a350 lol. The 777x will probably sell more than the a350 as it’s a lot easier to replace the 300er. Almost no airlines are retiring their 300ers because it’s sooo good, still pretty efficient, has a lot of cargo capabilities because of oversized engines, has good performance. I think in 5 years there will be a lot more sales as the 300ers will begin the process of replacement and it’s easier to literally just get the same airplane with new engines

    • @neilpickup237
      @neilpickup237 Před měsícem

      @davidajayi1207 Which only goes to reinforce the point that I made.
      A neo may be just around the corner, which will mean that the 777x is then a generation behind.
      Because the A350 airframe is a generation ahead of the 777x (and to be fair and balanced, so is the 787), the 777x needs to be a generation ahead engine wise to have a real chance of having any significant advantage over any next generation airframe - this is unlikely to be possible for another couple of decades and would rely on the A350 no longer having up-to-date engines.
      While the 777x should be a great aircraft, as highlighted in the video, opportunities were missed, which could have made it an even better one.
      I agree that the 777x is a logical replacement for the 777 and will remain so.
      The question I raised was whether it would be quite so clear-cut for an airline that already operates A350s, possibly for the first time, a choice they may not have made had it not been because of a lack of certainty surrounding any 777x deliveries. Once the fleet split reaches a certain point, the replacement of 777 with 777x no longer remains the logical choice. It changes to a competition - a competition where it will probably win some and lose some.

    • @Stvescr
      @Stvescr Před měsícem

      Rolls Royce Ultrafan has completed its testing and is being touted as the NEO option for the A350. The existing RR Trent XWB engine already had a 10% efficiency increase over its first generation Trent engines and the Ultrafan has a 15% efficiency over and above the current -85/-97 XWB engines.
      Airbus partnered certain engine components with Rolls Royce for the Ultrafan so they have a vetted interest in the engine.
      Edit: Those posting that the GE9X engine is massively superior to the Trent XWB engine are mistaken. Many people assume a burn rate of 5% over the Trent but not only is that incorrect but the engine weight isn't factored in either. Fine margins... Trent XWB is a latest generation engine and miles above any other widebody engine out there including the 787.
