  • Tattoo shop tech talk about cartridge needles.
    In this review I talk about needles that we use in our shop and it's based on feedback from tattooists as well as personal experience.
    This tattoo cartridge needle line up is - Cheyenne Craft needles, Kwadron needles, black box from wholesalebodyjewellery.com, T-Tech needles, EZ needles, Elite (2) and Unistar Ultimate needles.
    I look at the needles from point of price per performance, built quality and comfort of use and safety.

      @@achannel5066 DermiMatch pen is horrible, throws needles right out of the plastic cartridge when power is slightly above ten. The pen turns on around 3 to 4 and rattles like a kids windup toy... Also, their cheap machine, gives really bad results for SMP. The 1RL by DemiMatch spits ink all over rattles and causes blowouts that are uncontrollable. Their power supply is truly a 10 dollar unit they sell for 350! One thing they do not tell you is the RL stands for round liner and is the same RL found and used by tattoo artists! In other words DermiMatch is not the way to go nor are the SMP needles any different than a tattooing RL! A 3RL is best used for the bulk of SMP and 1RL for the hairline works best. 1RL fades quickly, whoever works best for blonds and red heads with 1/4 to 3/4 dilution of distilled water, premium black ink works fine no special ink is needed other than to test with alcohol to see if it turns blue. Drop black ink on paper towel and dilute with alcohol to see if it turns blue if it does not it is ok to use.

As being "precision" product they were getting stuck pretty often and sometimes cap of cartridge would come of when you clean it. And stellar was nothing exciting as well. Thank you for a most informative video, I'm very interested in getting into the cartridge system, still feel more comfortable with the old school disposable tube and needle combo only because I feel it's safer to just throw away everything when I'm done, My question is it necessary to autoclave the grip and plunger bar after each tattoo? I've seen other artist just wrap the grip with tape and never autoclave them, Is this standard when using a cartridge system? Any information on this question is appreciated

    • @TattooShopTalk
      @TattooShopTalk  Před 5 lety +1

      Not autoclaving grips is a bad standard that is very popular. I'm using disposable grips for Cheyenne and there a bunch of options out there if I run out I autoclave my Cheyenne grips after every time when use them (you can't take them apart and clean inside)

    • @inkzombie6
      @inkzombie6 Před 5 lety +2

      Tattoo Shop Talk Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it very much... would this apply to the plunger bar as well?

    • @TattooShopTalk
      @TattooShopTalk  Před 5 lety +1

      That's a "grey area". In theory if you put cartridges in a safe place or don't switch in between them and considering that cartridges have membrane then bars should be clean. Specially with machines with fixed bars I would be extra careful . But if that's the convert system and you can change it all - I would change bars all I can. Some disposable grips even come with bar

    • @inkzombie6
      @inkzombie6 Před 5 lety +5

      Thank you, Think I'll just go with the fully disposable system, plunger bars, grips etc, this way there aren't any grey areas, just absolute safety for my client. I rather spend the extra money and feel better about it, Thank you so much for your prompt reply. Peace

      Usually rinsing it and running over clean paper towel sideways does the trick. If you really need to get needle out then you have to remove cartridge out and push needle out - keeping in mind on not to get nasty stuff on plunger

  • @TheCancelCult
    @TheCancelCult Před 5 lety +2

    You should have checked how the plunger moves side to side. If the plunger is loose and moves around, the needle will not travel straight down. The higher the speed you have your power set to the more your needle bounces around and will not hit the skin in the same spot even though you aren't moving the needle/cartridge. The membrane should not only hold back liquid, it should be stiff enough to guide the plunger straight down especially when holding the machine at an angle.
    One of the benefits of rotary over coil machine is less vibration. Less vibration means more accuracy. A loose plunger and a soft membrane defeat the purpose. You want the plunger to move straight up and down or you might as well turn your power supply to top speed. Its far more important than any other aspect..... other than the membrane keeping liquids in the cartridge.

    • @TattooShopTalk
      @TattooShopTalk  Před 5 lety +1

      I would say they are pricey for a small walk in type of tattoos let's say on 50$ tattoo and maybe you need two of them and considering the type of customer there will be touch up needed. On a bigger pieces use whatever suits you best.

      @@TattooShopTalk I'm new to cartridges and Quatat is so far the most available in stores in our city. We do have EZ here but I'm not sure why they don't stock them up like Quatats. I tested them out like how you did(membrane concerns) and they did well too. Price is just right and for me, they're as close as match with EZ's. Try them out if you're still looking for options or something to review on. I like how detailed & helpful your videos are, thank you very much! :)

      Thanks. If I get a chance I'll try them. There are so many brands out there and seems like same cartridges with different names as well and each supplier have their own brand on top of all that

    Ja nav membrāna, ir skaidrs, ka tecēs (bet tai pat laikā, gravitāte dara savu), bet būtu interesanti redzēt, cik un vai tās membrānas tiešām aiztur visu krāsūdeni..
