Ordered this brace a year ago after being diagnosed with m.s. at 22. My mom put me under her insurance at the beginning of this year. This brace is perfect for any one without insurance that wishes to get mobile ASAP. However, there are cons. The step smart brace limits the free range of motion with the ankle. The heel sits in a sort of pocket with plastic on the sides. My new brace ("Dynamic Walk" by Centri) has complete free range heel and ankle. As well as no straps. But it is longer than the step smart. Goes to my calf. Im a young a male with an active lifestyle. I haven't ran in over a year but Im looking into the Bioness L300 and the Walkaid. I wish anyone with foot drop the best of luck.

Works like a miracle. ..my dad put it on and walked normally. ..he loves it. ...you must get the heal square for the other foot at 60$....that included the leather padding which we got for both feet...total was 284$.....worth it....he hasn't taken it off....Velcro both brace and heal square to inside of shoes
This brace changed my life it made me twist when I walk for yrs I thought my thighs was the problem until I studied a lil I wish everyone luck

I have the same exact problem.
I had 3 back surgeries from August 2014- January 2016. A year and a half. Because of this I've have drop foot and chronic leg pains. I got fitted for that brace. I'm going to pick it up soon. So hopefully it helps me.

Sweet brace. I am going to ask my prosthetic guy about it. My current brace looks like a shin guard. With the foot drop, my foot always feels heavy, and it feels like it "fell asleep". It is like this all the time. Sciatic nerve was severely damaged.

Another question. Do people with this issue/brace have to have a handicap sticker for their car? Im considering ALL options for my daughter. If she chooses to have this surgery to remove a nerve sheath tumor, her Dr is sure she will have drop foot.

They do push these back surgeries a lot...with so so results.

@Kassy Hoiriis Have a neurologist examine him. I have drop foot with a Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis. I wear a AFO, but I want to look into this device. Good luck.
I have hereditary spastic paraplegia would it help.
+reject society Hello there! I'm sorry but our brace can be very difficult to wear when you have a spastic episode. You need to be able to relax your foot to place it in a shoe with the brace already fixed in the shoe. Thank you!

is it hard to walk without the brace? Can you drive without the brace?
Tracey N Hi there and thank you for the comment. Our Step-Smart brace was designed to improve your walking. In fact, one of the things most say about our brace is that they can return to driving. The Step-Smart allows for plantar flexion, which is what is needed to press the gas and brake while driving. Our brace also gives dorsi flexion which is what is needed when you lift your foot off of the gas. Please feel free to check out our many videos about the Step-Smart!
