I would NOT be that calm!!!!
+p4fizzle yeah, you'd be dead. Panicky people are usually the first to die in any life and death situation.
John Doe Possibly, but at the speed I'd be travelling I'd give myself more of a chance than the people in this video :)
p4fizzle You do realize they're on a rocky mountain and not a flat plateau right? There is no such thing as running fast, only falling and you can only fall so fast before you hit terminal velocity although that won't happen because you'll be hitting about a thousand rocks on the way down hence my original comment.
Also, "running fast" in this situation means breathing harder and that's volcanic ash, read up on what volcanic ash does to a person's lungs.
John Doe Forgive me for replying, didn't realise you know everything there is to know about everything. It is very possible to run without falling, unless you're nonathletic and generally useless, I'd be fine, but thanks for your concern!
+p4fizzle damn right. Put down the backpack and all the other stuff and i'm out of there real fast
This wasn't a pyroclastic flow. It was a phreatic eruption.
Pyroclastic flows are very hot, the guy would have screamed in pain if it was a pyroclastic flow.
+Calmarius Either way, they're still being slow as fuck about trying to get away from it.
+Calmarius He wouldn't have screamed if it was a pyroclastic flow, he would have been disintegrated and so would the camera.
+Callum Purvis He may or may have screamed had it been a pyroclastic flow. The heat can range from like 250 degrees to 2,000 degrees. Either way, you're definitely right about no camera surviving one.
I think at even 250 degrees he would be stunned by the sudden heat, if he wasn't struck by the debris.
+dynelol Don't think you can outrun it.
If I am ever mountain climbing, and I see that; I'm OUT.
g
g
+Anthony Ankrah This is why I personally have chosen to not climb volcanos........ever....
+AngryGinger Me too.
+Anthony Ankrah There should be shelter for this kind of stuff on volcanoes, at least that'd protect from the ashes. Though people would still be doomed if a pyroclastic flow struck it.
I know, but I'd die trying to flee it.
I wouldnt just stand and watch it come swallow me up!!
Maybe rip my t shirt off and soak it in water and hope that I could cover my mouth with the wet garment to use it as a make-shift filter.
if that was pyroclastic flow they would die instantly from the super heated gas and ash
If that was a pyroclastic flow, this video would be on LiveLeak, not CZcams
@@dannyboy5086 This video wouldn't even make it.
They were in ash and survived how can ash kill em
Abraham Lincoln didn't you notice *super heated*
@@AbrahamLincoln4 breathing it in. It's glass bro.
I respect anyone who provides such solid content in the presence of near certain death
thats the presence of certain death not near certain death, im sure they prayed it was gonna be a near miss before they won they darwin awards
@@stileneitzke1593 People as dumb as you shouldn't be allowed to vote.
Or reproduce.
*THEY DID NOT DIE. THE PEOPLE IN THIS VIDEO FOUND SHELTER AND WERE RESCUED HOURS LATER. THEY'D BE DEAD IF THAT WAS A PYROCLASTIC CLOUD BUT IT WAS A DUST CLOUD, WHICH CAN ALSO BE DEADLY BUT HAS A GOOD CHANCE TO SURVIVE.*
glad you stated that.
So a heavier dust cloud? Is there a visual difference between ash cloud and pyroclastic flow?
Kalvin Chester speed
Kalvin Chester as in, pyroclastic is much faster
@@kalvinchester4068 one is chilli the other is chilly
RUN! WHY ARE THEY JUST SITTING THERE?
+davidhanlefilms look at the ground, just rocks, running has to be impossible
plus ash clouds move at really high speed, from 10 to 200 km/h
i was really impotent watching this, i imagined how scary has to be in that position knowing that there is a huge posibility of dying...
+davidfilms There's no point in running. It's just like a Tsunami, once you see it, it's too late to run away.
+Jakisuaki Lots of people have survived tsunamis by running away or finding higher ground.
+davidfilms Can YOU run faster than 500km/h?
+Ryan Ferretti what?
"Where is the hut? "
"The hut is under there."
"Let's go down."
"Too close. mask yourself."
It seems they did as they had been taught rationally.
I'm impressed at how calm they are. "That's bad, isn't it?" "What should we do?" Totally calm.
I would see my life flashing before my eyes, when I would see this thing coming towards me xD
They were lucky that it was not several thousand degrees hot.
RIP for everyone who died though :(
Are u still here lucy?
@@kaustav8417 yes
Running is pointless. The cloud will probably travel down for miles. What they should be doing is covering their heads and putting something over their faces to block out breathing in the ash.
I would literally have shit my pants 74 times and be screaming for Jesus Christ himself sprinting quicker than fucking usain bolt
Emily C you killed me omg HAHAHAHAH
Hugh Jass I think you came on just a little strong there bud 👌👌👌
Don't take God's name in vain. Jesus loves you.
i got anxiety just from seeing that shit approach
Hopefully they didn't get injured by that. Also the quality on that camera is insane.
Simon Keel fucker is Japanese...wat sort of electronics you expect ?
I wish I knew what kind of camera that was. I wonder why cameras are such a big thing with the Asian community. I see a lot of videos on youtube with Asian people talking about cameras.
Simon Keel Probably a GoPro
seriously? That is crazy
Simon Keel they sell in different qualitys, its not like you can buy a cheap gopro and have as good of video as the more expensive ones lmfao
For those wondering if these people died there is some confusing information being spread around.
A photographer who died was found with a "Camera" who took "photos" (Not video) near the summit as the cloud barreled down him and several others who all died, the photos were purchased by the AP and can be seen on their site. This video has no info as to whether these people lived or died but some sites suggest they lived. If you can link a credible site that confirms what their fate was please link, i would love to read it.
'the AP'? What? Where is that?
Hey, guess what, that's what I first did~! =D
Guess what else? "ap" is just two letters, and among the whole world, there's gonna be an awful lot of places where that's gonna pop up; an awful lot of places not related to this at all~! Ain't that fun? =D
Me being ignorant? I ask for something, and I'm ignorant for it.
Ignorant people don't ask to begin with.
We live in a world where people ask questions and instead of simply answering it we have a sissy fit and write a paragraph on why we shouldn’t. Smh
@@RyanPhoenixAZ you are a big asshole :/...
My God.. Even I can't breath while watching this
"I guess we'll just mosey on out of here"
Lol ah yep. Definitely best comment. Sums it up completely haha
People are actually calling these people idiots for not running. Do they not see the ground their traversing? You can't run on that shit and hope to outrun something as fast as that when you're to busy tripping over all the rocks that are sticking out of the ground.
TooMuchFreeTime I'd rather step on a couple or rocks than get burned alive and joked by ash
Ever heard of trailrunning? I've run down mountains plenty of times.
Must've been nasty breathing that in.
I think they held their breath... They wouldn't be alive if they didn't
H1Redstone It's called watch the video...
They weren't holding their breath. lol. You can hear the dude breathing, and coughing in the video. Don't respond if you have no idea what you're talking about.
Julian Garlington Hey, I get that I made a mistake... But there's a big difference between simply getting something wrong because someone didn't have the volume at 100% and that person just not knowing what they're talking about...
Please don't tell me I have no idea what I'm talking about if you don't know anything about me...
H1Redstone Why do I have to know anything about you, other than what pertains to the video? You gave me an attitude, about something that you were ignorant of, so I responded accordingly. Period.
Julian Garlington It's true, I was being ignorant, but I didn't have *no* idea what I was talking about, I had some idea of what I was talking about. That's all I'm trying to say, nothing else. I was simply correcting you. Period.
I can't imagine how awful it must be to see a pyroclastic flow coming and know you can't escape it.
+chipoftheundead This is not a pyroclastic flow though, just an ash cloud. Pyroclastic flows move much faster and are superheated, resulting in almost instant death. Now, ash clouds still suck because of the ash getting into your respiratory system, but at least there is a pretty big chance of survival.
+doritowarrior For sure. Thanks for pointing it out.
@@doritowarrior sounds absolutely horrible.
That's insane how fast that moved. I always though volcano's and ash clouds were slow in a way... but just under a minute and everything was black... wow.
the fastest pyroclastic flows can travel in excess of 350 MPH. they’re very lucky this was an eruption dominated by water vapor and minimal ash
R.I.P.
They're not dead, this wasn't a pyroclastic flow, it wasn't hot.
Flynn Asher anything coming out of a volcano is gonna be hot
Jeremy Nafus Please stop spreading misinformation. There were fatalities but not in the small group who made this video.
Jeremy Nafus First...bullshit. Second, I didn't say 34 didnt die. I said the guy with the camera and the few people immediately around him didn't die.
Jeremy Nafus people died! quit using that to get attention.
Be safe, best wishes to all and their families.
I'd be running like Sonic if I saw that
I pray you all make it out of their safely.
How would they upload the video if they died?
Grammar nazi 😋
H1Redstone
Take the camera from their cold dead bodies.
TheCheshireGamer That doesn't make me a grammar nazi, smart one.
FrostbitexP Seems legit.
I believe the guy filming survived, if anyone is curious. Apparently they found shelter and survived. His channel also has some more recent videos filmed with the same camera.
Good sources about the survival of the hikers and the eruption. Although it looks like a pyroclastic flow, according the the BBC source, it was driven by a steam explosion so the temperature was lower.

And u Stand there and watch?
What else do you expect them to do?
Hmmm I don't fucking know... RUN!
Yeah, cause trying to outrun volcanic ash has always worked.....
i mean what else are you going to do??
Build a protection shelter from all clever coments on the interntubes
they are actually running away faster on the stony mountain ground but the ash coming out of the volcano is so speedy as hell. There could be nothing they could do when it reaches them so fast.
so sad, i hope there is more awareness given to the public about climbing on active volcanoes
1.take water from your backpack
2.take your scarf/cloth
3.wet the scarf/cloth
4.breath through the scarf/cloth
????????
WIN
+Nyymi85 and yell allah Akhbar betwenn each breath !
Pyrocrastic flow will still kill you in a second it is poisonous and scalding hot
+Nyymi85 Step 5. Profit?????
AnthoFlex It's a joke
AnthoFlex good You know how to respond
is the flow has some heat? Or it is harmless?
Nope! Nope nope nope nope nope! Noooooope!
Hey, look, an active volcano! Let's go as close as possible and see what can happen!
Great footage. Very scary too. Be safe.
Now I know how to curse in Japanese.
The fact remains that 34 people died from this eruption.
Holy crap....
omg that pyroclastic flow gives me chills
dude there not even panicking
This is an excellent footage of a close up look at what appears to be a pyroclastic flow and shows its eventual overtake of the retreating camera man. It is sad that 34 people were too close to the tremendous forces of the volcano eruption. Their close proximity to the volcano made it impossible for them to survive.
+AnthoFlex Something killed 34 people on that volcano. What do you think killed them? Poison gas? Dust? Heat? That dust cloud looked like the leading edge of something that could easily suffocate 34 people.
+James King Pyroclastic flows are made of boulders, rocks and hot gas. They travel at about 400 mph, and are about 800 degrees Celsius. Those hikers would have been killed instantly, along with all of their footage of the incident. This is an ash cloud. Pretty scary stuff, but not the same thing.
+Sam Smith What killed 34 people on that volcano that day? Not all pyroclastic flows are the same temperature and consistency and speed.
I'm not totally familiar with this case. It it were these people in the video that were killed, they probably suffocated in the ash cloud.
these hikers actually survived, in the oringinal video, the hiker wrote in the description that they found a house and took temporary shelter there
If I was that close I wouldn't be standing there filming it. I would be absolutely high tailing it out of there with my shirt around my nose and mouth!
I love how calm they are xD. If it was me I'd be screaming my ass off.
Freaking out does no good. You put yourself and other at risk if you do something dumb and unpredictable.
screaming makes the situation worse for everyone around you
Is there anyway to translate?
If you guys didn’t know they’re all dead from breathing that shit in
So did these people die?
Abe Schmit Nope Thank God It Wasnt Pyroclastic Flow Means Its Not Hot If It Was Then They Will Die Of Heat And No One Died They Were Safe👍💓
@@wiseguyeclipsa7591 You are correct but the cloud was apparently hot, because some guy in the video was literally saying "it's hot" before the video ended.
@@WolvePriest Yeah But However That Cloud Was So Fast Moving Towards Them Even In The Video
Scary! I would freak out!
Unbelievable
Where they saw the smoke coming like "No problem it's just smoke", when they was 5 meters away "Oh no..."
Pyroclastic flows kill instantly. That's no such thing. The people would turn into ashes just at the moment the flow hits them.
Even though it 480p the quality is amaizing
That would be insane a giant ash cloud!
It would be miracle for their lung to still function after inhaling that much fine dust. Volcanic dust are apparently one of the finest dust you can ever find. Their lungs should be busted after staying there for a few minutes
You should have FFP3-masks near volcanoes.
You don't see birds, or rodents, or any wild life up there only see humans...
I hope the people in this video are not among the dead , god help them and there families
They are lucky to have survived that.
did they die?
I pray you all make it out of there safely. :)
Holly smoke!! I hope you guys survived the ash cloud.
Why they still recording
The best thing to do in this instance is to run straight at the volcano with your underwear around your ankles screaming "I love you" It's the last thing the volcano expects.
Umm... run??
Note to self, bring an ash rated face mask before hiking a volcano.
Cant out run that at all...lol
FrostbitexP Do you know if these guys survived?
***** ...so they could have died, bodies and equipment recovered by rescuers, their videos then were posted online. The title of this video says 34 people died. How am I supposed to know based on this video alone if these people in the video survived or not...?
may look slow but that's cause how damn large it is when it goes very fast
Whoever is on top of the mountain must have one sick vape mod
OH MY GOD!!!! RUN, PLEASE?!
Not trying to make a joke but at 0:03 thats truly a bruh moment
Creepy. Are those the people that died?
That looked like it HURT.
Drop the bags man
How were they able to breathe?!
Anyone else tried to hold their breath when the smoke came
So what that they're on rocks? They don't even seem to be trying. If I was there I would be skipping on these rocks like a gazelle, I think they had a fair chance if they ran against the wind.
Why are these people so lucky
So did this group die or not?
It can get up to 500c within miles. Instant death. This wasn't like that.
I'm surprised the cloud didn't burn them instantly....
To be honest, when I saw the first few seconds I thought everyone here were goners.
How do people see a volcano erupt right in front of them and not immediately run as fast as they can the other way?
Why didn't they go into the cabin?!?!
for all you people saying I'd just run... You cannot run..Its already moving 80mph or more. Its would be pointless
"Oh the volcano i am standing on is erupting? better take out my camera and start filming my death"
This isnt pyroclastic flow
I was at primary school year 2 we went up rangitoto...
Well guys, for all of that people who think these japanese guys are stupid because they dont run..... tell me how they should escape the cloud, which is like 100mph fast, when they run down a mountain? T_T
Second thing, can anybody prove that the guys shown in the video, because the description isnt pretty accurate :/ hope they survived that shit, the japanese volcanos are unpredictable :( but for all the guys sayin, they are dead, the cloud is hotter than 1000°, thats not true, the cloud which actually is that hot, doesnt go down to the ground, and even if it would be that hot, how did the cellphone or camera survive the heat? The battery wouldnt survive such a hot temperature, and you can clearly see them alive in the video after the cloud of smoke surrounded them :)
Only the poison could have killed them :(
It was only a dust cloud... So they didnt die just stay on the ground and try to breath a little and you wont die.
0:15 - Kurwa idź ty.

did these people die?
That's scary
Wow
Wow, that ash cloud came fast! Hope your all safe now!
