Thanks for this vid i have been waiting like realease date and you made mij day
hey i have one thing to say is that espathra has clea pathra in its name (i hope didn't misspell clea part of clea pathra's name)
I hope you change Cyndaquil to Frigibax. You loved hard on it in the video and it's even your favorite typing (which Cyndaquil is obviously not). I think you could have lots of fun designing a new logo too, instead of the Cyndaquil flames.
Gonna have to disagree with you on the scovallion here, brother. It's cool to me!!! having different colored bell peppers!!! the type is cool i saw it and went omg I want 1!!! A+lol
What it isn't s-keh-leh-deer-heh???
Something cool about Quaxly's 2nd stage is that it does ballet in its animations. You probably knew that, but what you might not have know is that when it faints, it does the famous pose from ballet the Black Swan when the titular black swam dies.
Dudunsparce is intended to be a joke. It's own name is a play on a sting, which is that drum beat typically played after a joke is said.
How did I just notice that
It’s so on brand for Dunsparce and I love him. My 3rd fave Paldea mon behind Clodsire and Tinkaton
Yeah but it’s lazy and kinda offensive to troll the fans instead of rewarding them for being so devoted to Pokémon and praising it regardless of the games faults
And? They could've done better
@@madnessarcade7447 No worries. I'm a musician, which must be the reason I noticed it immediately.
The 4 Ruin/ Calamity Pokémon’s lore is given by the Historian Professor at the academy in the last 3 lesson, from 7 to 9. They are manifestation of the accumulated hatred (-lust/greed etc.) that followed 4 treasures for whom humans fought a lot. The treasures were a sword, tablets with curses towards east kings, a vessel and beads. Each time those 4 treasure were given to a new owner they already accumulated the negative energy of the previous ones until all that hatred took the form of the animals you see. That’s why the panther has a two half of a sword as teeth, the moose has the vessel as the horns, the snail has the tablets as the shell and the fish as the beads as its eyes. Quite creative and interesting lore and design. By the way those 4 were sealed away because the amount of the negative energy became too strong and the manifestations were so dangerous that made many empires fall (the previous Paldean Empire itself fell in just one night), they were basically impossible to hand and they always used to bring disgrace and misfortune to the owner, that’s why they all came from distant and far east lands, because people has always tried to give them away once they figure out they were kind like cursed
Another thing I noticed when Pokétubers talk about the Ruin Pokémon they keep mistaking them for Legendaries even though their base state total matches the Ultra Beast & Paradox Pokémon.
@@Knight41bthey’re quite literally legendary Pokémon
dudunsparce is honestly one of my favorites from this gen, it’s great for dunsparce to get an evolution that doesn’t mess with what dunsparce is
Exactly! I honestly think Dudunsparce was just a troll move Gamefreak pulled on those who wanted Dunsparce to evolve for almost 2 decades. As a concept I think it's clever and I honestly don't mind its design either.
Imagine them giving it another evolution the following generation and it becomes the magestic dragon everyone wanted it to be
@@apopatatime they'll probably just going to make it even longer, once a joke always a joke.
I mean, why bother trying to change perfection?
@@apopatatime that’d be awful cause it wouldn’t be dunsparce anymore
I actually liked how Scovillain looks like a dragon-goblin thing, and the fact it is a pepper makes me like it more. I use it all the time through my playthrough.
Flamigo is another one of my personal favorites from this generation. It's dopey, but it's also really strong, and it's helped me so much during my playthrough.
The first time I see Scovillain I thought it was a base stage that could evolved into something else. I was surprised that Scovillain have a tail. And it also base on a happy angry drama symbol due to the red one is angry and the green one is happy. Although I was neutral to the design. I would think this mon will need an evo
What I like about Dudunspace is that it looks like an evolution designed while still having the technical limitations of Gen 2 in mind. While new evolution designs are cool, they often *look* like they were designed in a completely different generation. Sinnoh had great examples!
I like Dudunsparce because it actually treats it like how Dunsparce is supposed to be, not some incredibly powerful and majestic monster, just a kind of goofy looking guy you can’t hate.
@@burninggames9587 oh yes i can
@@burninggames9587 Yeah, I don't get why people wanted Dunsparce to evolve into a dragon, a dragon is drastically different than a tsuchinoko.
I love it for being the ultimate troll move possible. You’ve waited 20 years for a dunsparce evolution. Well, get ready for…more dunsparce!
Nooo!
I absolutely love what they did with Finizen/Palafin. It took me a while to realize that it's a group of citizens with Palafin being a superhero in disguise, and it basically pulls a Superman when it changes it form lol. And I mean, they are super adorable!
I think my favorite has to be *Quaquaval* .
I was Team Quaxly from the start and I was blown away by Quaquaval when I first saw the leaks. Its design and colours are all very pleasing to me, and it has so much personality. The way it spreads Quaquaval's tail and dances in battle to the music looks like it's having the time of its life. This is the first time a starter is my favorite of the generation.
I'm fed of people called it gay wet blaziken . Like blaziken doesn't even look like a bird , Quaquaval is anyday better
I personally think it’s to vibrant. It seems to vivid and colorful and it looks it has ADHD when in battle.
@@sinnohperson8813 personally I don't mind people calling it blue water Blaziken or Gayziken. I don't think that's a bad thing.
I liked Quaquaval too. For its carnival inspiration they pulled it off well
I 100% agree, even after all the gen 9 Pokemon have been revealed, it's still my favorite
Since Gholdengo is a humanoid golden entity, it may be based on award statuettes, which are often made with gold; or El Dorado, a mythical king who covered his entire body with gold. It also seems to take cues from surfers, given the golden surfboard it rides on in the overworld as well as its dreadlock-like appendages and friendly nature, befitting of the archetypal "surfer dude."
This diverse combination makes it an inventive design
There is hidden lore about it in the classrooms
Also having it be all collected throughout the game means they did make it being Pokémon 1000 a big deal
To be honest, nobody could say for sure what are national dex numbers of generation IX Pokemon. The games have their hidden internal index numbering. According to it, Miraidon is #999, Tinkatink is #1000 and Annihilape is the last with #1010. However, those index numbers have two empty slots for paradox Johto beasts hybrid (#980) and paradox Unova musketeers hybrid (#987).
If instead of relying on hidden internal index numbering we take Paldea regional dex (#001 Sprigatito - #400 Miraidon), remove all the old Pokemon and assign new pokemon numbers starting with #906 Sprigatito up to #1008 Miraidon, then Gholdengo would be #1000, but we can't guarantee those are real national dex numbers until Pokemon HOME receive an update with Scarlet/Violet compatibility
Well said.
Hoops's opinion is the exact same predictable trash opinion as everyone else who never bothered to give Gholdengo a chance. Like, my brother in *CHRIST,* would it kill *ANY* of them to give it a chance and look deeper into its history?
gholdengo is a chad
@Logan McGlynn You know execution isn’t everything
What makes a Pokémon design good is its inspirations and all the different things that make it a unique and inventive combination and all of the time and effort gamefreak put into researching all the ideas
Which is why I say there are no bad Pokémon designs
Because every Pokémon has some level of attention to detail put into them
Even if you can’t tell based on surface level at first
@@Kostyurik there hasn’t been a National dex since Gen 5 it’s called the regional dex
dude you GOTTA do all the history classes and all the Mrs Raifort interactions. SO much lore including on treasures of ruin
The whole Nacli line and Glimmet’s line is my favorite they were on my team from the beginning to end even now it’s still on my team
Tandemaus is what Plusle & Minun would be if both shared the same dex entry instead of 2
Fidough and Dachsbun are perfect in every way, shape, and form. My favorite pokemon this gen. And honestly it's replaced gardevior in my top 5 favorites. I love gardevior but that precious doggo is so freaking cute.
It's kind of funny, I didn't even think of Pawmi as a Pikachu clone until a few days ago when another CZcamsr mentioned it. It is, imo, the best pikaclone to the point of almost entirely escaping the category
I think Pawmi is one of the cutest pokemon ever created
we get more lore on pika clones in the pawmi line dex entries
Dunsparce is already perfect. You can’t perfect perfection with Dudunsparce. Two segments is already perfect enough but three segments is top tier. So high tier in fact that Arceus himself cannot comprehend its beauty.
They were just trolling the fans which is very petty in game freaks part
@@Peecamarke it's the fans fault, shouldn't have tried to speculate about so many cool evolutions. They set themselves up for failure
Exactly. The only thing that could have made Dudunsparce better is more forms each with more segments than the last with the biggest one being just comically long.
I think fidough would of been even better if to evolve it you had to get hit by fire moves
That would be annoying as *FAOWK.*
Like, having to travel aaaaaaall the way somewhere that has Fire-type Pokemon, which aren't guaranteed to immediately use Fire-type moves against Fidough? Nohohoho thank you.
I think that’s a fun idea !
@@RoseSupreme they already have it the other way tho it's just as annoying that way plus you could always used it on a fire boss or your friends fire type in a battle
@@RoseSupreme I mean did you forget about Galarian Yamask?
@@shelliblossom8953 What about it?
When you research the inspiration and reasoning behind many of the Paldean Pokemon, they become a lot more awesome, such as Annihilape.
Dudunsparce kind of adds to what made dunsparce so charming in the first place
Gamefreak clearly didn’t want to betray what made dunsparce so charming in the first place
Also someone pointed out that it’s name is literally
Du dun tss
Like the punchline of a joke
And that makes it even better
I dunno, felt like they were trolling the fans which sucks because the fans are very devoted to Pokémon and praise it regardless of its mistakes they shud be rewarding the fans
i love dudunsparce its as adorable as dunsparce!
Oh my god I love it even more
@@Peecamarke they rewarded the people who loved DUNSPARCE because it was a derp
I love hearing your opinion on Pokémon Hoops. I think you're the first Poketuber that doesn't hate Frigibax, I'm happy you found a new top fave! 😁
Game Freak: "What shall be the 1000th Pokemon? Any ideas?"
Designer: "Surfboarding golden Cheesestring!"
Game Freak: "Genius!"
Dudunsparce is like an onamonapia of the drum and cimble u hear after a bad joke XD
Flamigo is not *JUST* a flamingo!! his body is shaped like a classic boxing glove to match his fighting type
I didn't notice that
In natdex order, Tinkaton is the 1000th Pokemon. Take that as you will.
I don't think the Nat Dex order is known yet. The order with Tinkaton at #1000 is based on internal file names that may or may not correspond to Nat Dex numbers iirc. If you just take all the new Pokemon in the Paldea Dex and keep them in the same order Gimmighoul is #999 and Goldengho is #1000, which makes much more sense.
I also really love bramblin it’s sooo cute! I named mine dustball lol 😂 I love it’s cry and the fact you evolve it by waking around is amazing
Toedscool is an s for me. And scovillain is supposed to have two heads. The grass is for the bell pepper head and the fire type is for the hot red pepper head. I think it's perfect
What a lot of non Japanese speakers don't get about Dunsparce is that it's Jp name is a pun for disappointment hence the appropriate design for Dudunsparce.
Best part is Nacli is named after salt. NaCl is table salt and we add iodine (I) to it so Nacli is NaClI. I love the chemistry pun
I like to also think that it's just a clever way of writing out the word "salty" 😂
NaCl is the periodic table formula of table salt.
And salt crystals are cubes ^^'
This pokemon is actually really well designed !
I feel like Wu-Chien is the PERFECT Pokemon to make some Pokemon Creepypastas about. That thing is an NIGHTMARE in the best way!
"Even though it is standing up snd we all wanted sprigatito to stay on all fours..."
Hey! Don't you lump me in with your quadruped cult, sir!
I also didn't like spidops at first, but the way it acts like an assassin spider grew on me. It actually hangs from trees and drops down if you pass by them. Tarountual being a cute ball of yarn was really good though and spidops having a roll or spindle of yarn doesn't achieve the same affect. I would like to see Tarountula get an alternate evolution where it retains a strong connection to yarn and sewing and possibly gets the fairy type.
Flamigo is just a flamingo, just like how Seel and Dewgong are just Seels and Dewgongs (whatever a Dewgong is 🤣)
The real-world name is 'dugong'. And Dewgong looks nothing like it. It's just more seal.
It’s not just a flamingo it’s also based on a lawn ornament and a pool toy it’s also tied it’s neck up like a balloon animal all of these are incredibly inventive combinations
@@madnessarcade7447 it's body is also in the shape of a boxing glove
I’m sayin tho, and people still praising Gamefreaks like it’s this super smart design! Just dunsparce is being praised for being lazy and petty trolling, I mean you gotta criticize Gamefreak at SOME point, when they make a Pokémon’s evolution exactly the same except standing, you GOTTA say something, c’mon now smh
@@Peecamarke Because Dunsparce IS a joke Pokemon like Wobuffet and Wynaut.
It's evolution's name literally means the drum beat after a joke. (Du Dun Tss). It's Just Dunsparce but bigger and that's the joke they are conveying after so many people wanting a Dunsparce evolution, a joke Pokemon.
Flamigo's body is literally shaped in the form of a boxing glove, Hence it's Fighting type.
And with Pawmo, I understand the people who think his design is lazy but isn't that the same complaint you can say about Bulbasaur's evolution line. It's the same Pokemon but bigger and a small change.
I love love Koraidon. He's my friend. He's my pal. He's my buddy.
Spidops is literally a spider mixed with a spinster machine that’s such an incredibly creative combination idk how you could hate it
I used it on my entire playthrough
Came through for me multiple times
cool concept =/= good design. Spidops has got to be one of the ugliest Pokemon we have gotten.
@@FrigidOven Nah, Spidops is super cool. I love the military operative look!
It’s kinda like a Spider-Monkey
@@loganmcglynn9950 I agree, it is very uniform. But at the same time... that could even be the point.
Whereas Tarountula's threads were untidy, and bits and pieces were sticking out everywhere, Spidops' threads are much more neatly kept, being straightly tied around its abdomen.
I've also heard Spidops be compared to a training dummy or wooden automaton, I can see that too.
Because Spidops' legs can shoot webs out of them the more cylindrical shape could be so that they resemble shotgun nozzles. Fitting for a special ops soldier.
I always thought it was a mix of a spider and a special ops. The way it moves when not dash looks like it's sneaking around. I really like it.
Something I just noticed about Kingambit... It's almost definitely unintentional but the Pawniard line going from pawn to bishop to king reminds me of a rather forgettable Digimon line, I think it was only ever in one or two games. The white ones would digivolve into a knight, then a bishop, then a king, and the black ones went knight into rook into queen. If we get a branched or regional evolution line for Pawniard with a rook and queen, I'm just going to assume it was intentional.
It's actually based on chess (Pawn, bishop, king)
I don’t understand all the disdain toward the sprigatito line, I think the design, especially of Meowscarada, is amazing and they’re all very seamless and polished designs. Maybe I’m biased bc she was my starter, but her design combined with her always-critical hitting signature move makes her a definitive new favorite of mine.
The Sprigatito line is pretty popular (albiet for both the wholesome and unsavory reasons) within the pokémon community and is accepted more successfully than the offerings of humanoid starters in prior gens. However, Hoops and his audience have a very particular taste in regard to pokémon design that is pretty consistent throughout his videos (pretty much he hates humanoid/ anthro pokémon with a passion). So after seeing this video, it's not surprising.
This is the same guy who objectively deems Delphox a pokémon that "Everybody Hates" and officially craps on anything and everything that doesn't fit his own personal preferences. So, if you're expecting an essence of subjective open-mindedness in regards to pokémon designs for people other than himself, this channel is the furthest thing from that and overall not worth your time in general. This guy is but a small drop in an ocean of opinions that doesn't represent the consensus of pokémon fans at all, and any consensus he does try to conclude will most likely be taken from the legion of like-minded fans via his Twitter echo chamber polls.
The entire Sprigatito line is amazing imo, and many other fans think so too. So don't acknowledge this guy and his arguable taste in pokémon.
Am i the only one who thinks the entire frigibax evolutionary line is just godzilla cause the first one is just manilla, the second is just zilla, and the last it’s just godzilla.
Oh man.... You did my boy Scovillain dirty disgracing it with the same rank as Dudunsparce, lol. Just shows you how wild personal tastes can be, lol. I personally think Scovillain is my favorite of the generation. Has a great name, looks awesome with those pepper heads looking like little dragon heads, and he screams grass/fire type because he is spicy. I loved the design as soon as I evolved Capsakid. He was part of pretty much my entire play through. Took him all the way to the end.
Thanks for the video, enjoyed it!
I love how Dudunsparce is just a bigger longer cushion snake. Maybe that’s the point, subvert explanations or straight up trolling.
Yeah, everyone wanted some sort of angel dragon or something, but this is pretty much the perfect evolution for that little derp snake.
@@AozameThe more cool fanart designs could be a bit too obvious and generic. Maybe a more simple and kinda lazy is more fitting for this big plushie snake of a Pokémon.
@@BergmitetheBlueandPointy0712 I mean, he's a joke Pokemon, his name literally means the drum beat for the end of a joke.
BaDum-Tish (Or Du Dun Tss)
It only makes sense for his evolution to be the biggest joke for fans. And I'm into it
Yeah but know one wanted them to subvert expectations and no one criticized them for dunsparce form just expected to see Game freaks creativity and reward to fan expectation. To subvert and troll loyal and admiring fans is so petty and dismissive
It's an insult to its potential, and to the fans
Palafin is easily my favourite new pokemon in Scarlet and Violet. I just love the superhero aesthetic and although the goofy appearance of the hero form may cause other people to like it less, it only makes me love it more. Palafin's ability even relates to its theme. "Zero to Hero" makes it so it only enters hero form after swapping out and back in because it has a secret identity to protect so it does a costume change in its pokeball. I love it. Sadly Palafin is the only one of the new pokemon I can't get in game because of that damn friend circle evolution requirement. Pain
You can find it in Raid dens. You just have to be patient.
gholdengo is amazing. It might look like string cheese, but every inch of that string cheese is solid gold.
I like how the Nacli line has the element compound of salt in their names. NaCl, sodium chloride.
I noticed that too!
I never understood people hating on the middle starters for looking odd but florgato the one starter that looks very awkward to me people like it? It’s just spirigato standing up that randomly has a Yo-yo?
Take the middle form out of the Pawmi line, then you have a big enough difference fo a decent evolution
When the ad is something you're interested in but have another brand of, but then the add goes 180 and shows me a better compact keychain that the one I got
OMFG do you Not get the Rick Rollin' Meme that is Dudunsparce, HOW Can You Possibly Not LOVE Dudunsparce?!?!?! HOW?!?!?!
Quaqaval won me over..mostly cause I realized it's basically a big "disco duck" homage and Quaxly is basically just John Travolta in his "Saturday Night Fever/Grease" phase. (plus having Clavel annihilate me not once but twice with that duck made me appreciate it)
I cannot even look at orthworm because I am seriously terrified of earthworms
I like how tinkaton's hammer is the same color as corvoknight and even the shiny has the same color hammer as shiny corvoknight meaning the hammer is most likely made of the feathers which if you think about it's dex entry makes sense.
Isn't shiny Corviknight silver? Tinkaton's shiny hammer is bronze-ish
How did shiny Tinkaton's hammer apparently looking like Corviknight's shiny ever catch fire?
It's just blatantly false.
They look nothing alike.
@@ShyToast Sorry you are right, might be more like rusted look now that I think about it. Someone talked to me about it and I forgot sorry.
Dudunsparce is in fact the best, most perfect thing GameFreak could have done for people who genuinely love Dunsparce, and I will explain why.
Dunsparce, in terms of appearance, is already perfect. There really wasn't anything to improve upon in that department- all it really needed was better stats. And for that reason, I've been against a Dunsparce evolution, instead wanting it to just get straight-up stat buffs. I was worried that an evolution to Dunsparce might end up being too far detached from the quirky and charming look that so endeared me to Dunsparce in the first place. Not like some epic dragon evolution for it wouldn't have been cool, but I see the kinds of Dunsparce evolutions we get in fangames, and just... they don't do it for me. They feel like they're trying to twist Dunsparce into something it's not and was never intended to be.
Instead we got Dudunsparce. The fact that it still looks very much like Dunsparce with only minor changes is honestly something I feel works very much in its favor. I, as a fan of Dunsparce, look at Dudunsparce, and I see that which drew me to Dunsparce in the first place, just... moreso. A longer body makes it more serpentine as well, as a bonus, which, y'know, is fitting for the Land Snake Pokémon. And what's more, it got those coveted stat buffs! It's still pure Normal, still has the same Abilities, still has the crazy movepool, still has that same Dunsparce charm, but now with better stats to back it up, and that is all I ever really wanted for this thing. It's perfect. It might even be legitimately competing for a spot in my top five favorite Pokémon of all time- it's certainly gonna make the top ten at least.
Also, the fact that it has an alternate form you have a 1% chance of getting, I feel like was intended as a throwback to Dunsparce's 1% encounter rate in Dark Cave back in Gen 2, and that just tickles me.
21:15 Caspakid? what? i might name mine casper the friendly ghost-pepper now
Also they are cyborgs not robots
If they were robots they’d all be steel and electric the fact that they keep at least one of their original typings means they still have some of that DNA in them
They're still pretty much metallic creatures that look basically like robots
The whole Sprigatito line is a S+ tier for me. It's my favorite line in like 15 years since Chimchar. Meowscarada is practically tied with Decidueye as my favorite grass starter ever in terms of design. Meowscarada to me, feels more like a Lucario than what other folks say on how it reminds them of another Cinderace. I can't really see it to be honest. Except for the whole "classification" however. I can see it in that sense.
Clodsire is god tier pokemon design
The thing that got me into the tinatink line was seeing a tinkatuff chase me with its hammer raised. It was so intimidating with its large hammer that I had to get one. Tinktaton being a great final pokemon to the line makes it so much better. They appear to be based on ogres or oni which I think is really cool. I'm the kind of person that likes Grimsnarl for the same reason. I also definitely disagree about Espathra, it looks so cool to me. I don't like the arctibax line but I don't like dorky looking dinosaurs, thats just my taste.
Couldn’t disagree more with meowscarada and Lokix but I absolutely agree on fluecoco and it’s evolutions other than it’s final where I actually give it the same tier as fluecoco
Also, Revaroom is our first Steel/Poison type.
Two of my favorites from this gen are Ceruledge and Fidough. I love them and I have both on m team (though I of course evolved Fidough into Daschbun). Also, it just hit me that the water/fighting Tauros is obviously a reference to a water buffalo.
Shroodle over Armarouge? Yepp, he is drunk.
Grafaiai is an S+ tier Pokémon, change my mind.
I absolutely adore the use of the Ayeaye as such a unique choice of animal to base it off of. I love the mix of the graffiti, painted look, the strange eyes, and even the long strange middle finger like real Ayeayes. I love the mischievous look it’s got with the hoodie shaped fur, and somehow they made the large eyes with no pupils so expressive. It’s bushy ringed tail also really compliments the shape of this Pokémon.
I mean let’s be frank, Ayeayes are gross, and while I’m a massive animal lover especially for ones with strange unique features, I still gotta admit they’re a little gross lol. Anyone who doesn’t know I would caution about looking up what that long middle finger is for if you are squeamish. I love creative repurpose of it’s middle finger as a paint brush, and then dedicating one of the most unique areas out in the wild to it. The painted forest is so unique and is only exceeded by Area Zero in my opinion (again this is areas outside of cities).
In short, Grafaiai has become one of my top 5 favorite Pokémon (and in a series with well past 1000 now that’s crazy how quick it happened) and none of y’all will convince me otherwise lol. But I’d love to hear what y’all think of him, I have no idea how popular he actually is but I’m feeling that not many love him as much as I do lol.
I still wish Squawkabilly was related to Chatot in some way
Another thing about the game is that nacli is salt. So in the mountain area you will see it surrounded by gogoat. In the wild goats love eating salt
Not sure if you noticed, but for Flamigo, its beak is a boxing glove. XD
Man, I had no idea I could disagree with so many opinions about pokemon design! Thanks for the alternate perspective!
Things that I expected and actually happened:
Springatito line except for floragato to be crapped on
Fuecoco line being -overrated- high on the list
Wow
you're the first poktuber I've seen that doesn't say the Wattle line is the first non-legendary electric/flying type.
Kudos
Emolga came first
I think the pure fighting tauros should have gotten the forward facing horns, basically swap horns with the fire one. This would have made it look a lot better and been more balanced with the other ones as the fire one is easily the coolest one to me. This would make the fire one a little less cool, but its already really cool looking with its fiery looking mane.
You being disappointed with Dudunsparce is honestly what gives it's charm. Dunsparce will always meant to be disappointing like the Yokai it is inspired from. I could applaud to Gamefreak for making Dunsparce as disappointing as always and sticking to it's words. I guess it's the fan's high hopes and wishful thinking that made them disappointed. Love their fan evolution though but I love Dunsparce origins more and it's inspiration that I don't want it to evolve something cool, (giving it the Magikarp/Far'fetched Treatment).
I think this is an unpopular opinion but my favourite Pokemon from this gen was Spidops... and everyone I watch/talk to doesn't like it. I think I understand where people are coming from but I love my little guy.
ive warmed up to spidops he's pretty cool i just dont like that he evolves from tarountula because now i no longer have my perfect orb boy. just give us two spider pokemon one that evolves into a bigger orb boy and one that evolves into cool web slinging spy boy
@@zoesommers2927 That sounds perfect. I would love to see a really big Web spider. Make it a brached evolution and Spidops acts as a protector and such. I would love it.
Nacli and its evolutions have great names, they come from NaCl the chemical for sodium chloride aka salt. So Nacli and its evolutions are all based on salt, salt licks, salt rocks etc. I realized this shortly after seeing it and I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone mention it yet.
I like Dudunsparce because its literally game freak trolling who wanted a dunsparce evolution
I think the paradox future Pokémon are a hint that certain Pokémon went extinct due to us capturing and battling them but they have to be based on actual animals that’ll go extinct in the future penguin elephants even Dino’s are all endangered species or actually extinct animals why I really like their designs a new Pokémon game based in the future would be so amazing
It’s so fun watching Pokémon content again with gen 9. Lol while I don’t think cyndaquil should be replaced, you would stand out more with a Frigibax mascot. Though you could just do both. I love the little frigid guy 😍
I don't think they've revealed the National Dex numbers for the Gen 9 Pokémon yet, so we don't actually know who the 1000th Pokémon is. I'm guessing people are saying it's Gholdengo either from adding its Paldea Dex number to the previous number of known Pokémon (905) or from the 1000 coins thing. (Also it TOTALLY looks like that one string cheese mascot LOL 😂)
I definitely agree about the variety of designs. I avoided the leaks for the most part, but one of the things I did look at before playing was what all the new Pokémon looked like (once Serebii had a list) just cause I was curious. I was disappointed by the new bird Pokémon at first, especially since I always have a flyer on my team cause in my experience it does well for type coverage (and in the older games you needed a Pokémon who could learn Fly anyway). Then when I saw Flamigo in MysticUmbreon's video of must-use Pokémon for Scarlet & Violet, I decided to give it a chance. And while I haven't used it much yet, I've heard that it's actually pretty solid. Squawkabilly is also growing on me a bit, maybe cause it's used as the Flying Taxi Pokémon of Paldea (since Corviknight is apparently a no-go for that since Tinkaton likes to hit it out of the sky) and the little Flying Taxi animation they use in game of four Squawkabilly carrying the taxi is honestly pretty cute and funny to me. Still, if I was making a team for the whole game like I usually do (I haven't really been able to pin one down yet, probably due to the game not being linear this time around - I've had a similar issue with Legends Arceus) and I could only have one flying type, I'd probably go for Starly or Rookidee instead, as I know Staraptor and Corviknight are both really good.
I also was skeptical about the Nacli line. I heard the rumors about a "rock salt" Pokémon but honestly had no idea how they would pull that off. Even once I saw the designs I was just like "WTH is that." It does totally look like it should be in Minecraft (it'll be interesting to see it in Pixelmon). But then I decided to train a Nacli up to use against Team Star's Fire Base, since Naclstack was a suggested Pokémon to use in the guide I looked at. And...it kinda grew on me?? It still does look really weird but I'm oddly starting to like it. I also like how clever the name is (with NaCl being the formula for salt). Its attack Salt Cure is also interesting. I was confused by its description, thinking it healed the opponent (like Heal Pulse), but it actually "cures" the opponent in salt, causing damage over multiple turns, like Whirlpool or Sand Tomb. I could see that being useful (though my attempt to use it to chip damage Mela's Revavroom was only modestly successful).
Toedscool is another one that I was unsure about, but as far as convergent evos go I like it way better than Wiglett. (Even though I know what Wiglett is based on, it still looks creepy, and that one NSFW glitch with it doesn't help). It was also the first Pokémon I ever caught in a Tera Raid! So that's fun.
THANK YOU for mentioning the code name thing with the Paradox Pokémon. I've been thinking the same thing. Their names just seemed too weird to be actual names. I think they are codenames like with the Ultra Beasts, though I think since all their Dex entries mention they've only been mentioned in paranormal magazines, I think they're more like Pokémon cryptids, like Bigfoot. (Not sure how that works with the future ones, but anyway...guess I'll find out as I'm playing Violet). So maybe that is why we don't know their actual names. Maybe they can expand on them through DLC, similar to how USUM expanded on the idea of Ultra Beasts by actually letting you visit Ultra Space and stuff.
why can't pokemon critics just remember that Dunsparce has always, ALWAYS been a huge joke and middle finger
Noone:
Nintendo: Let's make the adorable grass starter a depressed jester for it's final form that will inevitably get disturbing fan art.
It’s not just a flamingo it’s also based on a lawn ornament and a pool toy it’s also tied it’s neck up like a balloon animal all of these are incredibly inventive combinations
You guys need to look past the surface level more often
Also it’s name is a mix of the words “flamingo” (obviously) and “amigo”
@@heatran4109 that also
In order to get people to like something design should always come first. It failed immediately.
The problem is that the design itself is not stylistic or charming enough
Good idea mid execution
I know we have different opinions but I can't believe you put low points to lokix over pawmi's trash evolutions.haha..it deserves to not evolve and be electric fighting already and the 2 slot should be new eeveelutions.
Scovillain is amazing. How did you hate it? And you dislike the Tink line? I'm lost to your Pokémon design interests. What's your favorite Pokémon?
I love flamigo and it looks like a boxing glove too which is a cool detail
I am disappointed that squawkabilly didn't have different stats based on color, the scarlet dex mentions that certain colors are more aggressive or whatever... They could have done something with that.
Oh c'mon, Hoops! Tinkaton is an easy S+! *It's perfect meme material! It MURDERS Corviknights!!!*
Lots of fun seeing others opinions on which pokemon they like and dislike. Personally I think Annihilape and Kingambit are the best evolutions to older pokemon they've ever done. Floragato might be my new favorite middle stage starter.
I really love Dachsbun, one of the cutest pokemon ever.
My favorite from the new roster is probably Pawmi. Even though the evolutions feel kinda lazy maybe, the laugh I got when my Pawmi just, stood up, was great. And then he evolved again and just, grew out his hairdo? I love the whole line myself.
Love your videos
Thank you!! :)
Pawmi’s line is based on a baby taking it’s first steps
Ya know… I think the main point to be taken from this video is that Hoops has an obsession with cutesy Pokemon
I felt the same about the legends, wasn't a big fan of the wheels in chest, but then I saw Koraidon in the game and immediately feel in love with it. It's one of only 4 pokemon for me that I grown attached to
I really loved Miraidon from the start. Also in all the small cutscenes he had really strong toothless vibes for me, which as a dragon fan, made him even better.
@@stuffandthings617 I got those same vibes lol. I think that's what did it for me in the end, I love those movies and dragons a lot. And also once I saw that the front wheel was more like one of those sacks you actually see on some lizards throats for breathing it made a lot more sense. And those dang eyes really peirce the soul in the cut scenes. I couldn't stop giving it my sandwiches lol
Glimmet's line makes me think of the UBs, fittingly, it has the same typing as Nihilego
Dondozo is based on a sushi chef
Shroodle being based on a shrew but also looking like a hat is interesting design. Grafaiai wearing a hoodie is cool and connects it to shroodle, both being clothes. They're not for me though.
L take…. Nah I’m playin. I don’t see enough people in these comments talking about these two. Grafaiai is personally a top 5 Pokémon overall for me, I used him through my whole play through. I like hearing what other people think of him, cause from what I’ve been seeing not a lot of people agree with me lol
@@silent_cheddar5181 I get you. I think he's a cool design. I tend to like weirder looking things though. Like I'm one of probably 2 people that like binacle and barbaracle.
Armarouge is severely underrated compared to the quite literal edgelord or Ceruledge,... :/
3:58 hehe, it's a fire type, and you're *warming* up to it.
Honestly I understand why people love Ceuledge so much (I also love it too) but it’s kind of annoys me when people always underrate Armarouge. Like seriously, it’s a flaming gladiator knight with ARM CANNONS! This thing pulls a Mega Man/ Samus on its opponent which is incredibly badass.
I also think that frigibax is super adorable! Clodsire is my s+++++ tire is so cute and really good in battle water absorb is fantastic
The Pawmi line reminds me of the Cyndaquil line. It's the same pokemon but bigger
if you take the history classes at the academy they talk about the back story of the 4 other legendery pokemons .
Lokix is my 3rd favorite pokemon and meowscarada is my favorite pokemon😭😵☠️it’s fine though
Dunsparce is a joke Pokémon based on a joke cryptid, so of course its evolution is also a joke! Dudunsparce is perfect, I mean, Dunsparce was already perfect and you can't improve perfection. XD
The other tauros are forms are beautiful yu gotta see the water form swim In the water is awesome
