  • Quincee Gideon, PsyD talks about some of the concerning features of Twelve Tribes-- a group that has recently been in the news after the devastating fires in Colorado. In this video, Dr. Quincee talks about some of the concerning features that are seen in cult groups.
Cult groups might force you to:
🚩 Believe that you will be blessed by God according to how many of your possessions you give to the cult when you join, which makes it hard to leave.
🚩 Have to work without compensation for "the good of the group". Twelve Tribes has also had complaints of child labor.
🚩 Require homeschooling for indoctrination of children and restrict access to outside world and education that might challenge the cult's beliefs.
🚩 Use of coercion and control
🚩 Us vs then mentality: racism, homophobia, misogyny have been reported from ex-members.
🚩 All or nothing belief- you are in or you are out and you are cut off from the community if you disagree or challenge.
🚩 Charismatic authoritarian leader that oversees life decisions of followers
🚩 Active recruitment- and looks for vulnerable people.

I used to run into them a lot in Winnipeg. Friendly, but with a creepy vibe.

Twelve Tribes I use to live there. I still visit. You dont get paid but you get room and board food personals use of cars on the property everything is provided you want for nothing. Yes they use doctors, some who had cancer had chemo etc. or other treatment for issues. There are no gates or prisons no fence to keep you there. You want to go you simply walk down the driveway and go. Everyone has chores and shared work. Why not? If your living there for free why not help out? Its a commune remember? Not a love in. Parents are responsible for their own children. One husband one wife. Bible based values. If someone needs help on the Sabbath you help them. Its the right thing to do. I was there for years. I still visit often. My experience was wonderful. Its a Godly life caring for one another and the community they live in. Every religion can be classified as a cult. Everyone gives up something. Your allowed personal belongings. We sold our house and paid our debts. We did not have to give that money. Its about choice. You have to give willingly. Read the book if Acts in the bible. Maybe youll get it. They dont hide in a compound. Ask to see them visit talk to them. Over the years there has been much emotional growth and understanding. Things gave changed as they have obtained wisdom. Go to the yellow deli and ask to have tine to talk to someone. Many of the public visit on Shabbat at the evening meal. Check it out for yourself.

You sure are commenting on a lot of videos defending this cult, why not just go back and rejoin at this point? You're clearly delusional.

I agree with your assessment! I lived with them for years and gave my home! Ultimately, it was my own ego, pride, and vanity, of why I left! It was unfair what was done to me, but ultimately, it was me🤠🙏

@@tracyhillman I've seen them do things like work on the volunteer fire department and run first aid stations at community events, and then just helping out elderly neighbors and being good neighbors

I'm an ex-member and let me tell you the reason why they give up everything it's because Jesus said in Luke 14:33 that... "Unless you give up all your possessions you cannot be a disciple.". Christianity predominantly doesn't believe in this
