  • Shiva, otherwise known as the destroyer, is one of the most important deities in the Hindu Pantheon. As one of the three supreme Gods, sitting alongside Brahma the creator and Vishnu the preserver, Shiva plays a key role throughout Hinduism. Although his title of the destroyer may suggest a villainous role, Shiva is a far more complex figure. So who really is Shiva, and what does he represent? Let’s find out together

To understand SHIVA, I'll just put something here, if there happens that all gods and demons were fighting each other for heaven, which it does many times in Hindu mythology, and when they are fighting, and suddenly SHIVA appears, both gods and demons will stop fighting and bow infront of SHIVA, because they knew SHIVA is all righteous, he doesn't discriminate, he is just!! Many occasions in history of text, SHIVA punished many gods to give justice to demons!! That's why SHIVA is called "Mahadev" means The God Of Gods!!

That this young boy was not even listening that's when he threw his trident . After that Vishnu and other gods informed Shiva that this was his son and parvati came out because of all the noise and saw her son on the ground . With rage her forms of rage ( Kali ) and the form of warrior ( Durga ) all forms came out and started destroying everything . And because it was shivas trident who cut off Ganeshas head it couldn't be reattached . Interesting. One of the main problems i have with Abrahamic God is that he is often portrayed in the Old Testament as bloodthirsty and warmongering and relying on violence and inflicting pain to solve conflict even if it comes down to his own chosen people (Israelites) which in of itself is yet another problem of favoritism which shouldn't exist in my opinion.

@E L I A S ofcourse i don't have any obligation to make you believe in shiva , it is completely upto you , first you know him then you decide yourself it's upto you.
But you also don't have any right to take me as a fool if my belief is different than you.
May be you don't know something or may be vice versa.
That's the concept we follow in Sanatan Dharma or as we call it Hinduism. And that's the difference between a Dharmic religion and an Abrahmic religion.
So first try to learn about basics of a culture and society and try to understand their meanings and believes before you call a fool, alright.
Now.. for me Shiva is a God, a supreme Being whome we can not even understand him completely, and for a mare Human who lives on tiny room on a tiny planet on a galaxy among millions of galaxies on a universe among billions of universes who live only for on average 100 years who thinks he knows things he is a well read , intelligent scientific person for a person like this who is nothing but a dust particle in cosmos. If you want to understand what Shiva is: he is beyond what you can term as a "God", he is the reason why Gods even came into existence. He is nothing, he is the darkness within space, the emptiness between matter, he holds the universe together. His third eye is not a weapon of destruction, but the doorway to the ultimate truth, the key who the highest realm of consciousness. Shiva is nothing and Shiva is everything. Lord Brahma created the universe, Lord Vishnu (Krishna & Rama are his avatars) preserve it, but Shiva's manifestation and tandav is the reason why this creation could even come into existence, he is not the Supreme God, he is the reason why the Supreme God even exists. He is the glue that holds time, space, matter and souls together. To understand him better, every living being is a part of a giant tree of consciousness and Shiva's locks are the roots of this tree. His avatar Adiyogi was the first yogi, who invented Yogi, the physical series towards nirvana, Kaal Bhairav, a fierce God of Destruction, Death & Time, Rudra, a warrior avatar that represents strength, and so on...Hope I could plant a small seed in your head about the concept of Shiva.

As per Hindu mythology, Shiva existed before existence, which means he is the father of all Skyfathers and celestials, so Zeus probably is one of Shiva's creation or a creation of a lesser being like a celestial. Zeus is the god of sky but Shiva is a God of all Gods. 🐂

    • @Enlightened23
      @Enlightened23 Před rokem +1

in India ZEUS is called Indra. I mean Indra and Zeus r very similar. Both r lightening God and Both r kings of heavens.
Only difference is that beyond this, Greek Mythology doesn't exist as Zeus is supreme God their but here Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh(shiva) is holy trinity or deity who have created whole Universe and All other Gods and existence.
Even beyond this concept of trinity, we have concept of Parabrahmana. Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma just represent qualities and character of same Parabrahmana who is ultimate reality of everything, all pervasive and omnipresent while energy of Parabrahmana is represented by Shakti (The mother of whole Universe).

Rudra (Shiv) is truly and the only one; for the knowers of Brahman do not admit the existence of a second, He Rudra alone rules all the worlds by His powers. He dwells as the inner Self of every living being. After having created all the worlds, He, their Protector, takes them back into Himself at the end of time.

Sati is always been half part of shiva from the beggining.
Shiva is also god of weapon because he has the strongest weapon. Because he's the destroyer. Many weapon he has given to his devotees which includes vishnu, who has the chakra of shiva.
In the beggining shiva is portrait as a energy which has neither begging nor ending.
It's said each universe has a destroyer, creator & preserver. Which means in every universe there's a single shiva. Which will destroy the universe & from the destruction another universe will be originated. & The loop of universe will continue.
Also it's said our universe is the smallest among all.
& Actual true God doesn't live in any universe which might be those gods which live in universe are just a small clones of gods.
It's said the place where actual god lives no living being with there physical body can reach.

Well I think there is only one shiva since there is only one vishnu with his each breath "maha kalpa" a universe passed a universe created. And shiva said to be the one who is just there ever present and have no beginning as his other name suggest.
In hinduism there is something called KAAL which mean all ecompassing time. But shiva other name is MAHAKAAL which means beyond time and death.
But in Rig veda its mentioned that Brahman(not brahma) is where everything start from and everything that is or everything that ever will be or every was is part of brahman and everything at its end will return to brahman. So you could be right. Since hinduism does have a multiverse concept.

There are some explanation about it in yotube.
There might be millions universe, which has it's own million bhrama, vishnu & shiva. But above it there are top levels of god which they don't live in any universe, who are actual bhrama than shiva than Narayan than the almighty ONE.

So when god of lust tried to used his powers on shiva he opened his third eye and turned him into ashes. The shiva we know as "shankar" is just a manifestation of this pure consciousness so that our little mind can comprehend shiva a little bit. But no form or avatar can describe shiva. Shiva is not a thing, not a god, not a being, its beyond everything.

If someone think he is always angry then no, he is not. He is mostly silent and meditates he is very handsome more then you think, just look very scary for evil when he is in the rudra form the rudra form he tries not to out because it can lead to destruction very high. So, he teaches the nature of life let me explain.
1, To be positive, living with friend or even the negative thought people around you but remain positive. Like shiva lives with gods and the negative demons. He still be kind. You can say that all middle benchers always has a shiva.
    2) Ignore how long someone keep insult you, don't give any answer to them let them do, you know you are true. But if it gone to physical impact don't stay quiet. Like inchase of Prajapati daksh and gone high after his wife sacrifieses he didn't remain quiet.
    3) Always know when to be silent, when to be anger, when to be kind and protect someone. Like Shiva always became angry when its necessary or over.
    4) How to control anger throught meditation. As adiyogi.
    5) Always live close to nature, when you became you became nothing and everything for nature.
This are less, their are more but you should learn this points. It probably help you in your innocent life..

Well told but a little correction It was god Vishnu who took the form of tourtise/turtle during samundra manthan in which ashuras and devas work together to get amrit (a devine water of immortality) and to divide everything equally on both sides but when the halahal poison come out during that process that could wipeout the entire creation shiva drank that poision .

Shiva is not just a destroyer but also a creator of this whole universe as he/she has no origin nor end
    God of gods and demons
No parents, gurus or mentors because he is the highest form.
He himself repeats in the form of lord Vishnu and Brahma
    Please don't call it myth
that's our history and our ancestors tried their best to give us understanding of ultimate conciousness

Shiva is carefree individual who 99 percent of the time is in own world. He has the power to destroy the universe. It's all just the story. I think the lesson from Shiva is living life in carefree manner not being easily bothered by outside reality. Unlike other gods Shiva getting angry is rarest site in the myth.

Another name for Shiva is Rudra which means cry or roar. Let his anger be the rarest sight coz blve me brother no one wants to see the anger of Shiva as it is also clearly mentioned in the scriptures that what happens when Shiva is legit angry. No powerfull god or demon can withstand Shiva's mighty aggression leave alone ordinary humans.

Many things even People Who are Hindu doesn't know eg :
(Meaning of his name ) Shiva ....{but his actual human name was Adiyogi ...(the first Yogi)
SHIVA = THAT WHICH IS NOTHING
( According to science Everything in the cosmos is Formed from Nothing and Goes back to Nothing ...even an small atom )
So indirectly he ...is god Of all Gods ...cause he is Nothing
    He is everywhere ......
And he was Known as ADIYOGi ...before people knew him as Shiva ....
He is the Only Being on This planet Who has Told 112 Ways of Enlightenment & He Created Yoga ...
(Through which *yoga Gautama Buddha Learnt teaching in more than 100 Schools in India ...when he traveled ...and Got Enlightened ....By just Opened one door ...there are many .
if Gautama Buddha Was So Powerfull being .....imagine the One who Created Yoga ...by which budhha ...got enlightened ...
    Sooo much powerfull .....
    Thats beyond our dimension
{don't take it has a Hindu thing ...he is just an Ultimate being ...just like Gautama budhha ..but way beyond (and yes he was also a human before ..so he I not an So called Imaginable god)
He does not belongs to any religion ....
in fact no god or powerful beings belongs to any religion .. Even Jesus crist
Its us who made religion ...and made it worse
