- EU4 Pirate Republics are always fun, so what if I told you there's a SECRET EU4 NATION hidden in the British Isles, starting in EU4 England? Cornwall in EU4 might be the least played nation that's actually one of the most interesting nations with a unique government type. I highly recommend trying them out yourself for something new in EU4! Hopefully that'll tide you over until EU5!
Remember, This SECRET NATION is one of the MOST FUN to play in EU4!

Cornwall as a name predates the introduction of maize(corn) to europe. It originates from the old english word "cornweales" which roughly translates to "peninsula of the welsh".

Paradox should make a ‘One Piece’ achievement where you have to find the seven cities as a Pirate republic
I have to ask… Are you sure your life isn’t just some high end joke?
You are considered dead by the UK, not allowed in the US and people want to see you in the most meme German City.
Sounds pretty meme to me…
Ulm isn't the most meme German city.
That title goes to Bielefeld.
Ulm is just an EU IV meme, Bielefeld is a whole Germany meme.

One of my early EU4 games was as Cornwall; my first ever vassal start! And I wasn't aware of the strategy of ruining the mother country before releasing the vassal.. so I had a full strength England constantly antagonizing me while I slowly built up my trade and my mil.
Long story short, I won the Cornwall War of Independence, colonized Greenland, colonized Florida and the Maritime States, fought the Spanish, eradicated the Canadians (final battle against Canada was in.. Ghana), and then finally removed England from Britain, before ending their run completely in Aruba once and for all! New Kernow and Cornwall both controlled most of North America, and all of the British Aisles were under my domain from my humble early struggles 🥴🥴
I had great fun with Cornwall in an all nations released mod. Didn't know about the pirate aspect though! I'm Devonian but needs must...
Pirates are fun, "So" in Japan is a really fun one to!
It's also a great Peter Gabriel album.
Say it isn't So...
I’ve played as them, great fun!
For the marines campaign I recommend trying the 1.33 Beta patch. Portugal, England, Maritime and Naval ideas get 25% marines force limit each! A potentially whopping 75% Marines!
in the Netherlands we also like to mock the friezen so welcome to the mockery train and something else the marines were a dutch or english invention i think dutch but that speaks for itself in my situation but nobody really knows for sure both sides claim to be the first
the only thing i know about the cornish is that they somehow call bread a teacake despite the fact that there is neither tea nor cake in it. according to the spiffing brit that is the most important thing you need to know about cornwall.
May I remind you of Pineapples ?
The Cornish might not be the only weird people around xP
Where did he say this???
@@brokenglass9814 czcams.com/video/qENUVlfjG_M/video.html
Alrighty, common misconception here. As a Cornishman, I can safely say we do NOT call bread teacakes. Teacakes are basically just uninteresting hot cross buns. Bread is still bread in Kernow.
I have no idea why but it's honestly too funny how you keep talking to Wales as if it's your sidekick
They’re an awful sidekick
Fun fact, Cornish Pirates, is also the name of the biggest rugby club in Cornwall
This is great, this is good stuff, this is how it should've been😄
3:20 "You are, without doubt, the worst pirate I have ever heard of"
"Bold words coming from a guy that just got his world rocked by Burgundy and is currently being taken out by French peasants. Statistically the worst kind of peasant." XD
It's weird but cool to see someone who studied somewhere literally so local to me. I watch CZcamsrs and they're in Ireland or Birmingham or in the states but hearing someone who studied in Exeter university (Exeter being my hometown)
It's super weird but in a cool way.
His accent sounds like mine where it's a very clear well spoken accent which people who are from the major cities in Exeter have so I am not sure if he's also from Devon but he sounds like it. I am part Cornish myself so I really enjoyed this video
I knew about Rügen but that's new for me
"I haven't done anything" listen, you've got a worrying track record with bin burning

Dude, I am that Cornish person you mentioned... Lol.
I'm pretty new to the game and I've been trying to figure out how to get a game going as Cornwall that won't just kick my ass in 10 minutes flat, ever since I found out that Paradox actually put Cornwall in the game (which has to be a strategy game first afaik - nice one Paradox). So I just wanna say a big ol' 'ta mate' for this video, as I reckon there's enough cool ideas here to get me started at least. Gonna get on it dreckly 😉
Nice video lol halfway in and it is really cool
Thanks mate!
Cool video and nice to see a quite rare nation in EU4.
But maybe you could try to play tall sometimes? A tall and more limited campagin could be fun. Say you only want to ruin and balkanize other big countries, not just conquer them.
I did a tall campaign!
do a multiplayer video where all of you play all of the possible starting pirate republics
Huh, my sister was at Penryn a few years back. Weird to think that you were there too. Still, it's a beautiful part of the world - I'd like to go back to visit someday.

Tbh, when I think of Durham & Exeter I can only recall that time Tom Scott didn't believe that it existed (Durham that is)
Love the little 'one piece' nod in the thumbnail
You should do marines with the knights or something or pirate republic somewhere and only take islands lol you just hot drop islands.
Was half expecting another EU4 CZcamsr to be in the comment section joking about their next video being a marines only Portugal video 😆
Glad to see you went to Exeter University. I live there! Exeter is actually in Devon, not Cornwall (it is in Cornwall if you were talking about the nation in EU4), but it's an easy mistake to make. I also do not appreciate being culture converted.
Exeter uni has a campus in penryn which is where he said he went to 0:41
Well Devon was "culture converted" to Anglo-Saxon anyways, so just look upon it as returning it to the original culture with the original culture modifier.
Nice! I went to the Penryn campus though, so definitely in Cornwall! It’s next to Truro
Ok sorry I didn't know that. Counter intuitive though.

Im playing as Cossacks custom nation in Russian region and yes movement speed is extremely good... just for chasing down enemies, killing rebels that are 5000 miles away etc...
CZcams clearly has an uncomfortable level of information about me. I love my country and I love paradox games so yes, of course I'd click this. Damn algorithms.

What a coincidence! My Bachelor and Master's degree ceremonies have also been delayed because of Covid. I can't wait to throw my hat in the air twice in one day.
I keep getting that vision bug where it shows random parts of the world. Like in a recent game I was playing as Nusantara (Malaya) when suddenly I could see most of northern South America and southern North America
I think it happens when you play as Pirates. Not sure if the technology changes or it's just "Pirate vision", but I imagine the Caribbean, Japan, and Malaya showing up because of historical piracy - tags like Palembang, So, etc.

RNGesus really said, let’s make America Embargo Laith, give Frisia a diplomatic insult CB against Laith, make him break his alliance with the UK bc he is legally dead despite being alive, and drop his prestige to -100 by denying him his grad ceremony. I’m so sorry you keep getting bad rolls. Lemme just ask Homeland Security to improve relations, send a gift and influence the nation of Laith real quick and hopefully RNGesus will give you a 1+ diplo guy so Austria doesn’t betray you again. Good luck, my friend across the pond.
If you think this is fun I recommend playing as pirate republic Palembang. You can very easily colonize and conquer islands to raid the cost all the way from Korea to south africa. Be the downfall of ming just by existing as the devestation caused by raiding will perminently tank their mandate. And laugh at the concept of agressive expansion as all of asia and india combined can't face your navy. Take specific nations as cassels that are great colonizers and colonize even more.
Why is it called Cornwall if corn wasn't a thing before it was brought from the Americas
I don't know what exactly but it comes from the Cornish language I believe, not at all referring to the food
Hello! Cornish person here- it’s a mix between the Celtic word kernow (which is what the land was called) and the old English word Wealas which means foreigners :)
Conspiracy.
Cornish here. The English word comes from the old English Corneweals (Misspelled), which means 'Peninsula of the Welsh'.
It unfortunately has nothing to do with the Cornish Gaelic word 'Kernow'.
I dont even care about the video i see Roger i like
What about playing a Switzerland Marines only campaign? lol

My man got the naval ideas ☠👽💩🤡💀
About your Portugal video idea, the Marine Force Limit been significantly buffed, it provides 25% from ideas, and Portuguese special naval doctrine gives you 50% now. The open beta patch is publicly available, so I would recommend to use that for the video.
Besides all of that, Maritime, Naval, and Espionage ideas been buffed by good amount.
EDIT: Just done a quick test, Portugal with Economics, Marintime and Naval ideas gives you 125% Marines Force Limit...
What the hell are marines??? I've never heard of them. They are new I guess?
As a Cornishman, I approve. Apart from your butchered pronunciation of 'Kernow' and 'Dewnens', a very good video.
