I'd just like to mention Rottmnt didn't get a lot of funding and was cut short during season 2. I'd say the movie portrays it better than the series, because I'm fairly certain the creators were still getting the hang of what they were doing. It was a new thing that probably could have been executed much better.

To me at least most of the designs were misses then hits, the turtles personalities were almost the same most of the time (plus Raph as the leader? Since when has that ever been a good idea), and really didn't think the villians were that interesting.
But I honestly think it's biggest fault? The timing. This series basically came right after the massive hit the 2012 series was.

The 2012 series was without a doubt my favorite TMNT cartoon. It was dark, funny, action packed, and just pure awesome. However, the reason I see this as the best is simple: Source Materials.
This cartoon took different aspects of different parts of the TMNT franchise weather be comics, other shows, movies or video games and found away to incorporate it into the series. Such as when they included Bebop and Rocksteady, after only appearing in the 80's cartoon. Same when they turned Dog Pound into Razhar after being mutated twice and Shredder into the Super Shredder which were references to Secret of The Ooze.

2012 is my favorite, but it did have one major issue that wasn’t mentioned in this video. And that was the romance aspect. Donnie’s obsession with April was WAY overdone. The writers made him stalk her, which was very creepy. Leo’s crush on Karai was a bit problematic, since they’re technically step siblings. Mikey’s crush on Renet was also a bit weird, because she’s from the future, making Mikey far older than her. The only unproblematic romantic relationship was Raph and Mona Lisa. The show is a solid 9/10, but it would have been a 10/10 without the romance.

2003 is and always has been my favourite, it literally has the right balance of everything and always the versions I go back too. But I do not agree with what you said about Rise. I am long standing with the 87 being the one I grew up with yet I am a Rise fan. I love the style, the character designs and their personalities, seriously these turtles are not the same and definately do not act the same as each other either. That becomes more clear as the show progresses and even more so in the movie. Plus I do not know anyone, even people who are not fans of the show who still did not praise the animation. It is clean, very anime inspired and the use of low frame rate was done to perfection. Also you didn't include or rate the movie? That was also highly praised and as it stands is the highest rated TMNT movies by fans to date. I think Rise has just been treated very unfairly and it's main biggest problem was timing and Nick throwing it under the bus. If it came out a couple of years after the 2012 I do not think it would of gotten as much hate as it did. But thank god people recently have been turned around and the fanbase is growing massively for it. All thanks to that stellar movie This show had so much potential and talent behind it.

I don’t think rise of the TMNT get enough recognition
The series shakes up the TMNT elements a little to much but the way they do it is quite entertaining to watch, where I think they went wrong was changing to much to fast, while TNMT 2012 had diverted from the standard format a lot by it’s conclusion, it eased into and hinted towards those changes beginning with a more familiar take on TMNT before introducing the more wild concepts, e.g. numerous time travel adventures, intergalactic adventures, April’s mysterious past and her immense psychic power, crossovers with the og 80s TMNT characters, the mad max inspired future episode and the summoning of a powerful demon voiced by Mark Hamil that summoned an army of ghost from the netherworld, where rise when wrong was introducing all the changes so quickly, the mystic weapons are cool but it’s a departure from the usual TMNT that rely of their training and weapons to win battles, though many other TNMT gain powers they’re usually temporary like 2012 Micky’s lightning powers, all that said I can’t say I don’t enjoy Michaelangello using nunchucks to throw, buses, oil tankers and skyscrapers at his opponents
As for the characterisation while Leo was just Micky with swords, the real Micky wasn’t that different to his past iterations, I found Donny’s overly eccentric and egotistical personality quite funny when u see how different it is to the usual more nerdy, and shy Donny especially when I see how cool his inventions are with a more complete and industrial design to them instead of the more slapstick, cobbled together fusion of krang technology and literal trash that 2012 used, it was cool to see Raph as the leader and seeing his more softer and caring side and as the protector of the team rather than the fiery wrathful brawler he’s usually depicted as, KC Jones was darker than I was expecting and I liked the affect he had on Leo and his design was pretty decent, I found both splinter and April boring for the most part, splinter acting like a lazy father rather than a both the father and teacher he usually is though he was funny at some points, April I felt just acted as every typical teen girl and just had nothing about her character that stuck out to beside the powers, the villains were hit or miss, the smaller villains just felt goofy and gimmicky but the big threats were actually pretty cool, rise shredder was pretty much a super shredder, a demon and a monster, cool but still lacking in depth, the krang I found quite interesting though, they basically put the threat level of the 2012 krang into the body of 80s krang or 2012 krang sub-prime, making him a far more serious threat with a body that no other movie or TV krang could beat, a tactical genius and a ruthless combatant

I love that the 80s, 2003, and 2012 versions of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are the most iconic. It's been forever, but even to this day, the 80s TMNT is still one of the best. 2012 had a lot of great moments and it definitely deserves the gold medal for best franchise. I'd kill to see and own more DVDs of the 2003 version. Honestly, it's the one I miss most of all. Really brought out so much and that's why I love it.
It made sense that the worst was the Ninja Turtles just by looking at it. Just doesn't work for me. Honestly I will say that the 90s live action movies are still great.

My biggest gripe about the original live action movie is that the turtles rarely used their weapons when fighting, they pull out their weapons, but then don't utilize them often just connecting hits with only their feet or other parts of their body
Also I'm probably the one of the only ones who actually liked the Bay movies, the turtles had more lively expressions that aren’t heavily limited by costumes and animatronics, the fact that they look more like mutant turtles than anthropomorphic turtles, and that the sequel brought back Krang, Bebop, and Rocksteady

Your problems with Rise - that it's colourful and for little kids - seem to be exactly the same things that you have with 1987 Turtles being so great. And I love the distinct animation. The idea that the frenetic fight scenes of Rise are inferior to the Secret of the Ooze fight in which there was no weapons at all is just ridiculous. In fact, I dislike Ooze even more than the Bay movies. The Rise Movie is probably the darkest TMNT movie so far - EVERYBODY DIES. Like, in the first two minutes. You want dark? THAT would be dark.
2012 is... good, but at the same time it sometimes feels like it's just trying to leech off 2003 a lot. It's also got my genuinely least fave April. It's like April was meant to be the hero but failed.

    • @ilikeeverything.5900
      @ilikeeverything.5900 Před 9 měsíci +2

Bro got butthurt that Rise isn't on top.
Nah, joking, I understand your points and personally I'd put 1987 around the same spot Rise is, Rise a bit higher but still below Secret of the Ooze cause that movie is so fun. Rise is fun at times like the video said the dialogue can be dumbed down and simplistic, the personalities are harder to distinct from each other compared to other versions and the action scenes, while cool looking, are a bit hard to follow and a bit too much. The movie feels like one big action scene and i kinda hate that about it but I do like the emotional scenes with Leo and the Character Development.
2012 is a celebration of the franchise and pays tribute to every version, that's why some people think it's similar to 1987 and some people like you think it's too similar to 2003. 2003 is great btw and while 2012 is my personal favourite series, 2003 is objectively better. And yes everyone hates 2012 April but most people already knows that.

87, 2003, and Rise are my favorite series. As I grew up on both 87 and 03’s series. I know everybody and their mom loves the 2012 version but it just wasn’t doing it for me. Then Rise came out and even with its problems it felt fresh, I didn’t like it at first other than the animation. And kind of took a backwards approach since I got into it when the series ended (prematurely). Watched the movie first and then the series.
Other than the tv series, the OG live action TMNT movie will always be my favorite even if it’s mostly nostalgia, the blend of comedy and seriousness in a realistic setting? Mwah, chef’s kiss.

While I love the 2003 show, there is one thing that I never really cared for: Shredder being an Utrom.
Now don't get me wrong, I don't hate this version of the character. He's everything that the Shredder stands for when it comes to villiany. But to me, the Shredder also represents the evilness in humanity, particularly the darkness that came from original Japanese folklore. So for him to end up being an Utrom all along kinda takes away from that. I mean I respect what they were trying to do and go in a new direction, but idk I just didn't care for it that much. Like it would've been more interesting to have Oroku Saki the human had some kind of connection with the Utrom and showed that his conquest can expand beyond Earth or something along those lines.
This is why I love the 2012's (also my personal fav show) Shredder the most because aside from the incredible backstory he and Hamato Yoshi/Splinter have, he's exactly what the Shredder represents: the evilness of humanity.
