It’s a lot of car for the money imo. Mean it’s almost the same price as a challenger hellcat but in a truck which has more material more steel more suspension beds bigger tires bigger brakes bigger everything so trucks are just more expensive than a car would be you know it’s pretty good price in my opinion with that the gas mileage and kill me I’ll be fine personally with a widebody scat pack

The base model and a level 1 that's what you get you don't get any of those features but if you get a level two you get all of them
I'm pretty happy with my '22 TRX. I got all the options. I felt like it wouldn't be the same truck without all the luxury items included. Overall its one of my favorite vehicles

Hey Mike, I’ve got a TRX with the level 2 package. I agree about some of the stuff especially the proximity key. I’m surprised you weren’t able to find a level 2 for around low to mid 90’s cause that would solve like all of your complaints. Anyway last thing I’ll say, launch control, lower the rpm to like 2100-2200 and it’ll work. If you set it higher than that it will just push through the brakes.

How do you know it’s way better than the B&O? Have you spent any time in a Ford? Seriously? My neighbor has the new Dodge 1500 diesel with the HK stereo and I have the BO. To be honest the Ford sounds better. His has a hiss when listening to classical. I don’t hear that in mine. His bass is flat. I think you’ve never spent more than a minute in a Ford with the real unleashed stereo. The B&O is better than the stereo in my BMW X5M
@@jimsteinway695 when I was buying my truck, I went to ford and looked at a 2021 F-150 platinum, it was beautiful, but it was not fully loaded, it had no sunroof, 4x4, and the 5.0. So then I went to ram, and saw the Longhorn and it blew me away, with the open wood, and it had everything, so yeah, that’s how I know.

The outside temperature sensor on ram trucks is under the driver side mirror. You’ll see it if you look underneath.

Thank you for taking the advice and putting into Baja mode. It is the ONLY mode that starts in true first gear and 50/50 split on t-case.
Just got a 21 trx tr1 package. Everything you said are literally my complaints as well. For the price you pay sensors and ventilation seats should be included. Maybe not the 360 camera but would be nice. And the proximity key fob should definitely be included.

You pay a lot more with the RAM because it's a better vehicle than the Regular raptor, so all the luxury features come with the Level 2 TRX package (10k more) read before you buy a product I guess?
Anything that is included on a $40,000 Grande Cherokee should be included on an $82,000 pickup.

@@jeffk464 his review is actually very interesting because 9/10 reviewers will tell you the ride on the TRX is better. And the Raptor is better off roading only because ram went for a Daily driver comfort in mind too.. off reading isn't off by much on the TRX.
More than likely the F-150 is more comfortable in the cabin but if you get a TRX and you test drove it before you bought it that means you didn't care. What you hate is something you bought anyway. 🤷♂️

Mike, if you have code 18Y, “Moonroof and Tailgate” package on your Raptor, on 801A, you have a power up and down tailgate. Even though it’s heavier than the RAMS, you don’t even have to lift it. But of course if you don’t have that option, well ya know
Love everything about my Trx including the comforts. I have owned both Ford and Ram and actually found more bells and whistles with Ram for less price. You should have got the Level 2 package. Mine has proximity but I have it shut off for added protection. The F150 is no comparison, but a Raptor is.
All I'm saying is that a loaded accord is around 40k and has all of the things this truck is missing, for double the price they could have included these features.

it's a truck you pay for what you get and yes everyone has their own personal opinion good or bad dodge did get by putting out the that truck out there with the right engine and messed up by putting the twin turbo Eco boost in a truck when you talk to Ford owners gas mileage is not great cuz they are always using the boost having extra features in a truck are great specially when you are using it as your daily you want those things specially when you had long bad day at work and you're drive home is your relaxing and unwind part of your day you play you're music and forget about your day and drive in the truck that gives you something to smile about before you get home!!!!
I love my HO 3.5 Eco in my Gen 2 Raptor. Solid fuel efficiency (by definition better than any NA engine) and better offroad performance (lighter up front and has better torque curve). There's several reasons Ford didn't go with a V8 in the newer gens, and if you offroad them you quickly see why.
I just wanted to say, I love the sound of that engine revving regardless.

I totally agree with your complaints. I have a 2019 RAM 1500 REBEL and I have most of the features that are missing on your truck.
I totally agree with you on all your dislikes on the TRX. It is beyond ridiculous to be missing some basic features that have been in the market for a while and you should not pay extra for that. I also don’t get the price of all these trucks nowadays. To pay 100K for a fully loaded truck is crazy to me. I am not a truck guy though. Anyhow all your points were legitimate. When it comes to looks the TRX is best looking truck by far. I wonder reliability. I understand Dodge quality is not the best.
Well Ram (Dodge) is in first and second place for reliability. They came a long way on dependability and quality. 👍
I agree with those things especially the sensors. I believe every vehicle no matter cost should come with most of the standard sensors. I think he is just making himself not like the TRX so he can have a reason to buy a RaptoR :)
Creature comforts that Ford has that I love are the keypad on the drivers door and FordPass App that you don’t have to pay for monthly like the majority of other manufacturers. And agree about the proximity fob, my wife’s $30k Forester has it.
I definitely feel ya on not having the keyless entry. My jeep has it and its one of my favorite features on the whole vehicle. So convenient. Have you tried the 0-60 without a full tank of fuel?

I know. I hate Porsche. Just for fun, I configured a base 4 cylinder macan. I got it up to 150k. FOR A BASE 4 CYLINDER.
According to CarWizard they use matching Ford parts and just add the Porsche name for the huge markup.
@@davidespitia186 Actually I get the joke but, for real in like around 2016 luxury car manufactures were aware of Uber and Lyft rideshare having huge gains over car ownership experience which was dropping fast, so to help keep up with new car production manufactures started to see a growing market of subscription based rental business so a few manufactures started their own car rental subscriptions. BMW is included and its called the SIXT+. This was precovid years. With high demand of new car sales car dealers having empty starting sometime in 2021 car manufacturers ended the monthly subscription program of renting new cars on a monthly bases. Cadillac had such a program but canceled it after announcements fron other manufactures ending thier monthly rental programs.

I am surprised you didn’t mention the front leg room. The was the one thing I hated on my Ram. It’s just not long enough if you are fairly tall
I’m 6’ 4” and had plenty of leg room in my 2018 ram 1500.
I agree that for the price you paid, those features should have come with the TRX. My 2021 Challenger came with the proximity key, heated and ventilated seats, rear bumper sensors....only a reverse camera.....but I paid only $36k for mine.

Technically Mike you don't own any of them, you buy them you make a few videos and you move on to the next one. Its your income. You are living the dream Mike, good for you. Most people can't even really afford a new truck ( even if they buy one ), I'd say 90% can't afford a new raptor or TRX. It's pointless paying $1,400 a month just so you can't feel potholes and you look cool. And your getting 7 to 10mpg in town spirited driving, which is expected, not a hybrid or electric fan don't get me going. What you do have to factor the fuel cost into ownership. And if you use these trucks for what they're built for off-road, stuff will eventually break and you need to repair that, and it will cost a lot of money. You need to make well over $100,000 to actually comfortably afford either of these trucks. Cheapest LX 5.0 I was looking at was $48,000 not out the door, $4,000 down still $760 plus a month estimated, 84 months. Saw loaded xlts s for 65k and Lariat s for 69k. And theres still like three trims left to go.
I think the answer for most of us is buy the cheapest good body truck of your liking and throw boost at it. You could have your cake and eat it too under 40k. Say 11' 5.0 150 with a supercharger. You gotta do the work yourself though. You might even be able to stay in the 30s
Your gripes were all the dealbreakers for me.
Raptor order in 01/2022 was $73,000 and came w adaptive cruise, 360 cam, proximity key, selectable 2WD, adaptive/customizable suspension, steering, exhaust. Etc.
The $20k premium for the obscene power just wasn’t worth it for me.
also Ford has probably the best 360 cam of any manufacturer on the market

You got a much better truck. Not much slower on the road, much faster in the dirt, and much more comfortable all around!
@@sly9263 my only gripe with it is that the bumper borders are all blacked out, so it’s kind of impossible to tell exactly where the edge of the truck is. I like GM’s
a little bit better, the fact that you can look at each wheel is pretty neat. Until recently GMs didn’t have a physical “camera” button tho which I hated.
I think I’d pay the extra for the TRX 2 package over the Raptor R because the markups on the Raptor R will probably be huge and limited in quantity. I’m happy with my new 22 F Pace SVR 550hp and 2023 C8 3LT Z51 performance.
Mike... why don't u tint ur front windshield maybe like 55 or 45 percent so it helps reduce the heat in ur truck. Also u won't get burned from your right arm. Just a thought. Love the content. Keep it up!!
Because it's bad enough that his sides are tinted. PA vehicle code statute 175.67, section 4 states " A sunscreening device or other such material which does not permit a person to see or view the inside of the vehicle is prohibited..."
Putting tint on the windshield constitutes an obstruction of the windshield (seperate statute) as well as violating the one I quoted.

The thermometers in vehicles work most-properly while the vehicle is moving. The sensor near the bumper or behind the grille are wind-sensitive to then provide an accurate temperature.
not sure about the trx but the temp sesor is on the driver mirror bottom on the regular 1500s, it tends to read higher due to the ground temp. especially here in az.
My analog temp gauge in my base tradesman rams are always spot on for the trucks current location. Even w a plow on the front they read accurate. I appreciate that
I have a Laramie and have those features you complain about not having. Granted, I've only got 400 ponies under the hood. No turbo, etc.. But I spent half what you spent.
I have parking sensors, proximity key that unlocks when I touch the handle, vented seats, sunroof, etc.. Love the truck, and plenty of power for everyday driving.
I’m with you on value and features with the price point of the TRX. I bought my ‘21 TRX with 20K miles for about 15K less than if I were to build and order for ‘22.
After considering everything, I decided to go used with lvl 2 group and all the features I wanted. Saved money and time from building my own and couldn’t be happier.

Great review, I’m in the market for a V8 truck for better towing…and this review is helpful. I’m glad it has heated steering wheel and seats, two features I definitely want.

Fords doing that with the Raptor R but it alters what the base price is. All Raptor R's will come fully loaded but that's also why it's costs like 110k. Basically a fixed price.

No way I could buy a junk v6 EcoBoost. The old 6.2 yes. But all 3 EcoBoost have alot of problems.
Good video, really laughed, because of what you guys get for the money. We don't have full size trucks from where I am from, our biggest truck is pretty much a Ford Ranger. And my Ranger in XLT trim (mid-level trim, 4x4 2.0 Single Turbo Diesel which I know you don't get), has EVERY single feature you mentioned at less then (adjusted) US$ 35K....
I have the EXACT same truck as you, color too. I agree with everything you said 💯! I paid about what you did and my previous F150 had everything PLUS the side steps, tailgate step, bed liner AND tonneau cover. Shoot, my gen 1 raptor had cooled seats! None of that came with my TRX
I would love a middle ground between Raptor and Trx. Perhaps a GMC? But I don’t know any GMC’s that have what Raptor and TRX have. So hard to choose. It’s crazy, the raptor has what Trx doesn’t have and vice versa. It’s like Hulu and Netflix. 😅
I love my level 2 as well. I tow with mine and it does very well for a 1/2 ton.

I have every function you just named. My key does 2x the things a TRX does.
That shouldn’t sit right with Ram or anyone who drives a TRX. It’s not end of the world stuff but it’s daily things like a piece of metal on the center arm rest or a remote tailgate release.. like wtf.
I know it’s suppose to be an off-road warrior but anything that goes over 50k msrp should be able to function as a daily driver.

The tailgate on the Fords are so heavy because of the built in step. Ones without the step are just as light. Mine has the step, so I'm used to the weight...I closed the tailgate on my buddy's F-250 the other day (without the step) and couldn't believe how light it is.

One other thing and it may be your wheels or maybe revving too high. I have mentioned it on other videos I believe. Sport mode then brake boost to between 1500 and 1700 then let it rip. I can consistently hit 3.5 this way.
Thx u for your video as I am planning on buying one. I just started the process ordering my TRX. I think I ordered all the bells and whistles except the ‘trailer assistant.’ I did not order any TRX decals or carbon fiber especially at the $ amount for it. Sales person advised me not to get the soft bed cover rather buy hard cover. Not offered on the TRX website, I will get and install retractable foot board. God willing, I will have my TRX in 4-9 months.

You can also get the Proximity Key upgraded as a aftermarket I believe. I was fully expecting you to say your screen crashes a lot but however happy that you’re not experiencing that. Great Video btw 😊
This truck does look so good. I was building one the other day on their website and couldn't believe how they forced you to buy these overprice technology packages instead of letting you pick and choose. I'd rather have a nicer interior than a superfast truck. The 5.7 is plenty of performance. Would be cool if RAM made the Rebel based off the TRX platform with a NA 6.4 or 5.7 fully optioned out for 70-75k.
Our fleet of 2022 5.7 ram 3/4 tons suck. They are gutless wonders for sure. Doge is overprice on every level.

Very irritating thing Ford has done lately(?) is forcing big$$$ packages for little options. Not sure about the current f150, but the f250 lariat I’ve been considering ordering, lariat mid trim level comes with base halogen headlights, try adding led’s & price goes up ~$5k.
Going by the 2022 f150’s & f250’s I’ve “built” on the ford website, I’m thinking the lariat with the options you’re talking about in the video would have an msrp in the high $60’s today.
So with these things that annoy you with the TRX, which truck are you going to turn in for the RaptorR?

Just wanted to point out that the assisted tailgate certainly IS an option in the Ford Raptor. It’s part of the so-called “Luxury Package” and many used Raptors from 2017-2018 do have that package from 45k-60k USD as of October 2022. So even that feature as a rare “perk” of the TRX isn’t so great as validation for the price of that overpriced RAM! Crazy! Hope you enjoy that thing!

I have a 2021 Ford Explorer limited and it comes with: Heated Steering Wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, Heated 2nd row seats, buttons in the back of the truck to power close & power lift the 3rd row sits, power rear hatch. Plus it has 360 degree camera all around and adaptive cruise control and the pano roof and the parking sensors auto high beam. All for like $46K

I actually experienced outside temp way off from my BLACK Mazda 3. I believe the paint and interior hold much more heat from the sun becuz at night its accurate but in direct sunlight, 15 deg difference

I'm a ford guy but at least ram offers a heated wheel on the Bighorn. Up here in MN winter, my fingers freeze in my xlt 😒 keep in mind that you can option out an XLT in the mid $60s and still no heated wheel 🤦♂️

Got my TRX a week ago after a long 6 month wait since ordering. It's a loaded level 2 and it's awesome!!!
The RAM will have cool seats installed but if you don't ask for it ( and pay ) then they will not switch it on from the factory because the seats have all the necessary elements inside it for it to have these features but itis just a case of getting into the ECU and flipping it on.
All TRX's come with the adaptive cruise control system. All you have to do if you don't have the feature from factory, is order the adaptive cruise control button that goes on the steering wheel. Once you install the button, you just have to flash it and active it through a plug in OBD computer. I think the button costs around $70. So you can have ACC for under $100 if you or someone you know has something to flash the truck

7:15 really? my 2004 F150 and my dad's 2013 F150 both have 'tailgate assist' springs. Did the actually remove them, or is the assist just not as strong as on the Ram? Did your Lariat have a tailgate step? As that makes the tailgate heavier as well
Tuned 3.5HO has similar acceleration, 0-60 in 4.2, better gas mileage, less weight, better shocks, better tires (thicker sidewall on 35”s + availability of factory 37”s) better gearing (10 speed + 4.10s), beefier components/transfer case (can run 2wd in Raptor not TRX) all aluminum body….just some of the advantages the Ford has. Then the retort is really only “but hellcat engine” - yes, great engine & awesome exhaust note.
@Corrie Elieff lol- ok? Just go watch the TFL vid (they’re pretty big, no?) where they pitted a stock TRX vs a tuned gen2 Raptor on 37”s & see what happened. It’s right here on CZcams. The TRX just barely noses out the tuned Rappy…but the Raptor had HEAVY aftermarket 37” wheels/tires- that’s a significant detractor esp off the line, unsprung weight. Stellantis in general seems to have such a random feature distribution in the trims, random normally high end features in low package but random base features not in the package

I’m floored that your TRX doesn’t have “basic” features that my $59,000 (Stickered) 2021 Ram 1500 Laramie has. The fob, parking sensors (which are extremely sensitive) and cooled seats were included with my Truck. With regard to the thermostat, I get your gripe, but I’ve noticed that my phone receives it’s temp update from whatever weather station is nearby in the area, not my specific location. Great looking truck tho brother!

I also have a 2022 trx level one, I ordered mine and it was an option that I wanted to have the 360 surround and parking sensors so I do have those, but I agree the proximity unlock and the cooled seats are a irritation for me. They sell a kit that I am going to install that changes out the door handles to have the lock and unlock with your hand I am gonna put on mine real soon. Other than those couple things i cannot get enough of this truck it is by far my most favorite vehicle I have ever owned👍🏼👍🏼 oh and mine started doing the driveshaft clunk at around 5000 miles but they just released a kit that is supposed to fix that.

For $82K, literally EVERYTHING should be included. I just went to the "build your own" portion of the Ram Trucks site and the TRX level 2 package is $10,295, with a long list of features that are usually included on most $30K minivans. It's just stupid. They're trying to nickel and dime people on features that should already be there. It's literally as dumb as BMW trying to charge people a SUBSCRIPTION FEE to use the heated seats in their own cars. WTF is the auto market thinking? I like just about everything about the TRX (except the transmission and idiotic 1984 Ford Taurus shifter), but it's just not worth the money they're asking. It's just not. The blown HEMI is awesome...but, sorry, no. Having said that, as long as people keep paying those amounts, they'll keep elevating the prices to ever more ridiculous levels.
The backup sensors are attached to the advanced safety group package. I have a 2021 ram TRX tier 1 with backup sensors equipped on it.
I have the same annoyance with my Ram with the keyless/passive entry. I have the back up sensors and front sensors. The temp thermometer is the little globe on the dash by the windshield.
Sounds like comfort or convenience package is missing. Or safety sense or something. Does it at least have air conditioning seats?
I agree The raptor comes standard with a lot of bells and whistles but geez, that 6.2 supercharger and rumble is so worth the sacrifice. I think the outside temp sensor is in the grill front by the radiator 🤔🫡

edit: btw even 4th gen cheap Ram has aluminum hood, not sure about tailgate or other doors... and i think the temp sensor is simply heated from sun under whatever cover it is, many thermometer test devices i use for hvac service even recommend in directions to let it sit in temperature space i will be testing in
