After it was no longer needed, they kept it around because it's an easy excuse to generate revenue. Plain and simple. The judge will take the cop's side or word any day of the week over yours. They are both government officials in it together and will never be held to the same standards we are. Don't believe me? Unfortunately I've never met a cop who wouldn't lie about all of this. I've also never met a judge who would care about any of this. You'd be guilty just for "wasting" their time.

    • @fbsurveyor
      @fbsurveyor Před 7 lety +64

      Yep. You're right about that. Every time I've gotten in trouble the saying "you're innocent until proven guilty" was wrong as hell. I was guilty and had to fight to prove I was innocent which never freakin worked. In a lot of small counties it does help to get a lawyer. He probably knows and might be friends with the judge. That can work the other way too. They can also hate each other, it's a gamble but a lot of times it helps to get an expensive lawyer. Not for a ticket but for a DUI maybe. I got a DUI and it took months to get to the final decision which to my amazement got dropped to wreckless driving. I remember seeing MY attorney, the district attorney and the judge eating lunch at the same table. Our whole government is a corrupt system. A plumber, carpenter, surveyor, electrician or secretary can't run for or ever expect to be president. You have to start off in and be a politician. AND HOW IN THE HELL DID OUR STUPID NONVOTING IDIOTS LET TRUMP GET TO BE PRESIDENT. He's got his family and 1% Billionaire friends running things and he just sits back and tweets. Probably got his daughter doing that for him. "Now show me again honey, how do I get to that button to type and send a tweet"? The whole world is laughing at us. AND REMEMBER, NEVER FORGET, YOU ARE GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT.

      unfortunately this is spot on. No self respecting officer will admit to not doing their job and calibrating their instruments before making an arrest or writing a ticket. They just won't. And I'm sure they see it as a "white" lie because in their mind the person is guilty anyway so if lying seals the deal then its not a problem, but it is.

    • @Benitoite17
      @Benitoite17 Před 7 lety +54

      Chris Carr I agree with your statement however it's quite simple really. Yes he could lie and say he calibrated the radar gun but you have to remember that your going to ask the judge if the officer has the paperwork to prove that the gun was calibrated on that day. Now he may have calibrated the gun or he may not have. It's not bout if the gun is calibrated or not. It's all bout having the paperwork to provide the proof whether or not the instrument was calibrated. So this in my opinion keeps an officer honest.

    • @Rattlerjake1
      @Rattlerjake1 Před 7 lety +26

      Really??!! So a piece of paper is proof? An officer can simply fill out the paperwork, their is nothing that proves he did the test. Having the same officer or his partner (if he has one) doing the calibration is a conflict of interest. Calibration needs to be done by a separate and independent party!

    Thank you for sharing these helpful comments. I have always wondered about the calibration of the guns, myself. I would like to make a couple comments on rule #3. 1) What you call the cosine effect actually works in the opposite sense, meaning, if the car's trajectory is angled with respect to the laser beam, the gun will register a speed that is actually slower than the car's actual speed. An extreme, but helpful example is if you are trying to clock a car that was traveling perpendicular to your beam at 100 mph. Clearly, the guy is speeding, but your gun will register 0mph or noise (depending on the electronics). 2) But, since cops usually clock people from hundreds of yards away, the cosine effect becomes negligible because you have a right triangle whose 2 non-hypothenuse sides will be 500 yards and 10 yards long, for example. Cheers

And the officer said she didn't remember if she calibrated her radar that morning and that she only does it "when it doesnt work right" and a bunch of other stuff like that. I was found guilty. Even though the prosecution had ZERO evidence. Which I pointed out. But the judge said since i had no evidence i WASNT speeding.. she found me guilty.. i reminded her that the prosecution has the burden of proof and she got all pissed and said "I know about the burden of proof" so she's just corrupt. I objected and she said "you can object all you want, I'm still finding you guilty" and when I walked out.. this other guy cop opened the door and followed me out to argue with me after court. He said "your baseball analogy is wrong, our radar guns dont work like that" I said "what radar gun do you have?" And he said "it doesn't matter, that's how they all work" and I said "have you read the manual?" And he pointed to the parking lot and said "GO, get out of here" I asked him "so you just followed me out here to start an argument with me?" He said "no I'm just telling you so you dont waste your time" (as if he cares about my time, haha) and before I could answer he cut me off and started yelling "GO, NOW" I called him a nice name and went on my way. Angle of Deflection actually works in the speeder's favor on the street. If you are traveling at 70 and the officer has a 20 degree angle while running radar, the radar unit will display 65 miles an hour. Angle of Deflection is not a good defense to speeding. The angle helps you not hurts you, rather than helps you.
      copradar.com/chapts/chapt2/ch2d1.html
      Go to this website it will explain the actual Angle of Deflection for police radar.
      Also it depends on your state for all the above hints.
      In Virginia, if the officer is not in court for the first calling, the case will be continued.
      Virginia does not require to have officers know their angle of deflection.
      Also Police Radars pick up the strongest signal not always the largest object in the radar.

      Eva Stood yes but it’s kind of rare they don’t show up. If they forget/lost their pads where they took note that might help. They use what you said while you got the ticket. So if you admitted to speeding that doesn’t help you.

      Ed Vincent Calaguas my bad I just noticed you asked me 7 months ago this question. It didn’t go so well. I did not manage to get my ticket dismissed I asked the judge to dismiss my ticket they knocked 1 point off after I saw I had no idea how to find a loophole to get the ticket thrown off. I would have gotten 6 points for speeding if I would have just paid the ticket and not tried to fight it. I believe I would have to have also taken the 5 hour safety course as well but since I didn’t get 6 point I did not have to do that. If you are planning to fight it def hire a lawyer and see if he/she can help you get the ticket dismissed or at least get much less points on your record/license.

      Neal Specter I was just driving on my way back home from DC to Chicago. It was 3AM in Ohio which has a flat road. The judge dropped the charges and said the State Trooper had to do a better job. The trooper noted I tried running from him even though I pulled over and complied with their process. However I pleaded no contest because I didn’t want to travel back to Ohio. On my way back home from court, I drove the speed limit, and some other asshole pulled me over and asked me several times if I was on drugs. Turned out it was a drug enforcement officer and said he had no intentions of giving me a ticket. He pulled me over because apparently my wheels were slightly over the line.

    I went to court today for a Speeding ticket in Idaho, and I asked the officer to provide actual proof of using a radar against me. He told when giving me the ticket 6 weeks ago, that he didn't use a radar. So I asked for the proof in court today and he still didn't give it to me. The judge still side with the cops even without proof of using a radar. I am deeply disappointed that the judge side w the cop. I feel totally taken advantage of by the cop.
