    Maple sounds bigger and warmer. I like it better. Of course there are other variables, but I always loved the attack of notes on maple fretboards just in my personal experience.

    Does anyone else hear a little more bite, glassiness in the rosewood and a little more warmth and softer tone from the Maple? (in the clean tones of neck, mid and bridge - but not when two pickups were combined)

      The first of the video maybe, but listen to the more detailed fingerpicking segment later in the video. just hear a different lower-mid frequency with the rosewood board. It's a smoother rounder top end, with the bite changing with the nuances of his style.

      Close your eyes, skip to a random part, and try to guess. You'll be right 50% of the time. The string is touching the fret/nut and the bridge saddle. Maybe with some scientific instruments you can find some kind of miniscule difference in tone between body woods due to some kind of vibration of the pickup. But in reality any difference in tone here is going to be from the way the pickups are wound or minute differences in distance to the strings. There's not even any logical reason to argue that neck wood would affect tone.

    I still end up trading those lovely maple sparkle bite definition bits for the softer rosewood round woody resonant warmth bits...every damn time. Help. Me.

    I would go with rosewood for cleaner tones, but with gain, I think straight maple adds some clarity and articulation RW does not have.

    Too many variables to simply correlate any differences to the fretboard wood. I mean, even pickups of the same model will have differences. You’d have to control the environment more in order to guarantee any tonal changes are directly related to the fretboard wood.

  • @siegmac3267
    @siegmac3267 Před 4 lety +3

    Not much of a difference. Tonewood things that so expensive yet it cant change the sound that much as a pick-up change haha

      @@siegmac3267 I've been a musician for many years, repairing my guitar myself, making effect pedals, and also a trackmaker / mixing engineer, so I can hear the difference in sound depending on the fingerboard and tonewood. (Even with electric guitar, the sound output is different due to the effects of microphonics, sustain, etc.)
      In that sense, I love ebony fingerboards.
      But it's subjective, Don't think feel, anyway. haha
      Good luck, and keep playing bro, thanks!

      Tonewood is the most important thing to decide when buying guitar. Cheap asian no name wood won't improve after changing pickup, in my experience they really DO

  • @karsantinet

    No difference. So, the wood doesn't change the tone.
