All much of a muchness, actually felt there was a little more sustain in the McCarty if anything

I’d say the ‘57 sounded the liveliest with the most sustain and smooth frequency response high and low…..but….3 randoms reissues played against eachother with similar pickups if not identical is tough to compare. Maybe that ‘57 just have more mojo from wood and craftsmanship?! I don’t know….No two are alike.

The Gibson or the Fender would both be better in a full band mix,....Guaranteed !! And the Gibson wins between those two because it cuts but it has more balls. Ive seen this over and over....Fender and Gibson, with rare exceptions will perform better in a mix...But the worst example of either could be the exception. This is why they both persist in being number one overall.

ive played many of these and have found you notice the extra bass in the rosewood back and sides of, say, a 914 vs koa back and sides

Such little difference between the first two. SE sounds great for a grand
