WWE deserves an award for making people (including me) believe that Dean Ambrose/Jon Moxley was any good. I never was a big fan but I thought he was atleast decent in WWE. Left to his own devices and without any supervision, he has been absolutely awful in AEW, and I'm glad more and more people are noticing. This dude is getting paid millions to be absolutely horrible at his job
Just remember that not only did WWE make him the first of the SHIELD to win a singles title on the main roster and depicted him for a while as their leader, when Roman and Seth got their pushes he was the one that fans thought was being underutilized.
I always said he was a horrible wrassler and his offence is the weakest in the business but u marks always took up for him lol

But god, Ambrose/Moxley held that US belt forever -- I'm reasonably certain they forgot it existed for a while.

My best friend is a total casual, having only started to watch shows on occasion in the past year. I took her to a Dynamite taping earlier in the year and she had a great time, however when Moxley came out and had his match, she literally turned to me and asked why that match wasn’t as smooth as the other performers.
Mox’s opponent was Christopher Daniels. I don’t think it was Daniels fault there
"Rampage" taping at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh in April? They use Daniels so little, it take less than a minute to find the exact match from your description. He has had all of two matches on "Rampage" so far this year. None on "Dynamite". The rest was on "Dark", "Dark: Elevation", Jericunt's stupid floating Petri dish cruise, and on the "House Rules" tour. He mostly jobs to anybody and everybody in ROH.
A complete bellend like Moxley is supposedly a "star", while somebody like Daniels - who can actually wrestle and still looks amazing, even though he's older than Jericunt - does jobs in the secondary Khan-owned promotion and barely gets on the B show every once in forever...

Along with Metlzer's star ratings, the stupid New Japan strong style is one the worst things to happen in modern wrestling.
The problem isnt the style, its the fact its used incredibly poorly in us, and its not toned down enough leads to too many guys getting injured
@Justin-AL just the opposite, it's overwhelmingly toned down and is just a shell of what real Strong style is.
Strong styles is good, when done well. The problem is, it hasn't been done well for years now.
What you see in modern day New Japan is not the true Strong Style of the 70s 80s 90s..... what you see now us more like a piss poor bastardisation on the 90s All Japan King's Road drop them on their head Style.
To be honest, New Japan has especially embraced and incorporated US indie style wrestling over the last ten years or so. For me, the tide turned when they started pushing Omega. He wasn't the cause but he is the demarcation in my opinion.

The clothesline into a hug spot was legitimately worse than any invisible grenade spot or match against a child. The single worst clearly intentional spot I've ever seen.

That may be because you only see that certain spot from one Twitter clip but neither the sequence nor the actual match. Or you just don't like or don't get Ishii's style.

They are trying to do the ishii shibata match which happened like a decade ago, but with ishii who is 10 years older and 10 years slower and with moxley who is mostly just a mediocre wrestler
They've been trying to emulate this match for a while now with bunch of different guys and its never going to be as good as that one match
With every single match, I do not understand why Jon Moxley has to bleed. Even when it is unintentional and not a blade job, Moxley makes wrestlers bleeding not interesting and/or exciting.

I noticed 2 things
1. Claudio stared at Eddie Kingston almost the whole match like he was trying his best to not watch what was happening in the ring and I can't blame him
2. The fans reaction looked so fake and exagerated just before Mox and Ishiii hugged each other in the middle of the ring, like a crowd for a sitcom with a sign behind the camera to tell them when to laugh
I always appreciated Dean Ambrose because it looked like he is playing a character that wwe has given him, but the second I realised this guy acts and talks like that irl i lost interest so fast. He can talk and wwe were smart with using him. Moxley is the perfect example of not letting wrestler do whatever they want to.

I didn't watch this match, but the way Jim describes it makes me want to, even though I know its bad.
It wasn't worth it... Trust me.

Honestly, E-SHE-E-EEEE, is past his age & NEEDS an up angle NJPW style camera shot because with a guy as Tall as Moxley, it just looks bad on a Live view. & if you can visualize Moxley's lack there of E-SHE-E-EE's turned down 75%, this video's better to listen to and visualize

Moxley may not be the absolute worst wrestler of all time, but pound for pound he is. Its crazy that the same people who say he has good matches are the same people who claim CM Punk is bad in the ring.
There is a reason why Rollins and Reigns are champions in WWE and Moxley is wrestling a pensioner 90% of people have never heard of.
Disco almost kicked Konnan off their show when Konnan said he liked this match. Accused him of being on the payroll.
I will never understand the point of bringing these old, broken, Japanese jobbers to America, just so that they can wrestle an extremely poor 20 minute match with a random person on the AEW roster.
The matches are almost always the same chops, forearms and clotheslines with the odd suplex thrown in. And in the end the NJPW guy loses and isn't seen for a few months.
Just completely pointless for everyone involved.
The appeal is to get to see guys in person for those who can't afford the flight to Japan.

I actually kind of liked Jon Moxley pre Dean Ambrose the best. It was more believable presenting him as a violent degenerate off the streets than someone who is actually supposed to be some intimidating badass, like they do in AEW.
It was the same issue in WWE. Nobody cared for Mox's in-ring work, it was the promos and demeanor that hooked people. I remember people shitting on the stupid between the ropes rebound spot every week.
He has the weakest Suicide Dive ever. It's a diving push.

Remember the early days of The Shield and how Mox was classed and spoken about as the most potentially viable asset for that minute? Just look at all three guys now and if ANYONE dares say Moxley is even in the same realm as Reigns or Rollins then they are on crack. Unreal fall of grace.
I remember that distinctly because at the time I couldn't understand why people felt that way about Moxley. It's not like I saw something in the other two, but people were talking about Moxley differently and that probably had to do with his indie work. I don't watch the indies so I looked at it from the perspective of all 3 guys being brand new to me so I took him at face value and just could not see what people were talking about off the back of his work in the ring and on the mic. He wasn't terrible by any means but I looked at all three of them and thought "Really? That guy is the star of the three of them?"

It's crazy, I was a huge fan of Dean Ambrose and his in ring work, I was pulling my hair out wishing WWE would make him a top star so I was pshyced for AEW and... I got this, some dumbass who blades right infront of the camera in every match, doesn't sell, barely works at all.

To this day Dean Ambrose is one of my favorite guys... So are all the Shield guys. But Moxly, i just dont understand how this guy spent 10 years in WWE and learned NOTHING. Dean Ambrose would mop the floor with this clown no problem.
I like the violence. But Claudio and Danielson are where it's at. Mox is awful I never got the hype. Seth and Roman are better. Mox wants to be Regal so bad but never got the fact that Regal actually knew how to work and make it LOOK real rather than being real, hurting themselves and being terrible. Regal is and was one of the best stiff workers ever. Mox cant work so its not even stiff it's dangerous. He needs to grow up a lot.

The worst part about the elbows and forearms… is they’re imitating MMA.. if a guy gets hit clean with 2/3 hard elbows in MMA.. he’s going down. And if a guy takes like 5-10 elbows hard on the ground, the ref stops it. Strong style is such bullshit lmao.
