      Dude, your kids are adorable, and your commentary is stellar :) We just discovered your channel and got started with a Rubbermaid 100 gal Stock Tank. Unfortunately living in SoCal, even with ice we can only get the temp down to 68*F~ which 'shocking' but obviously not cold enough. Next step is to look at either a pump and water chiller, or just getting a chest freezer (on a timer?) with a pump. Great videos btw

    Another tip, hook up the pump externally “inline” and use bulkheads to connect tubing to the container. The pump produces heat. Also it gets everything out of the container 👊

    Great idea and affordable! Hell, I don't see why you couldn't just take it a step further and just hook this up to a spare bathtub in your house. I have an extra full bath in my basement, and don't see why you couldn't just permanently install the chiller. That also solves all the problems with adding and draining water, as well as needing to worry about keeping it clean

    You forgot neuroprene socks!! Protect the toes. It's really unnecessary to freeze your feet. If it's 50° you can go 10 minutes easy. I do 10 minutes and 30° water. And follow it with a sauna. Then a quick dip back in 30° water.
    But I also have severe spinal cord damage and fusion. I have stenosis and Bone spurring all over my spine.
    I really want to get an ice bath at home instead of paying a chiropractor office $50 a day. This video is super helpful thank you!
    I don't know if salt water would work with the system that you have. But I've swam in saltwater pools and hot tubs and it has amazing benefits for the skin. It's also recommended for skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.
    Although I don't have a sauna I do have a hot car in the summertime. If I do ice bath at home I just get in the car to warm up...lol 😂

I thought I could just take my large recycling bin, wash it out, and fill it with water and try to lift myself in it.

Me for my part, what I have been able to find on the net for several months and what I do every day is: For a temperature between 10°c and 15°c the duration must be 15 mins. While at 0°C the duration should rather be 3 minutes. So. Good luck and take care of you.

      I was seeing ads for that all over and was thinking how crazy it is to spend over $1000 just for a cool looking barrel that has no other features to cool the water. It’s a crazy market with lots of mark up right now. You could still buy the chiller like I got and set it up this same way. That would actually be awesome. I don’t, it’s set up it similar to a fish aquarium and I haven’t been shocked yet. Lol

    Hey David, another great vid - learning a lot still so thanks again. I have a question - you say the pump has a filter, and you added the strainer thing, but did you still have to change the water regularly due to it becoming cloudy/dirty? I know you moved on to adding hydrogen peroxide - how long would the water last before having to change it? Thanks again

    • @DavidMausJr
      @DavidMausJr  Před rokem

      Thanks my friend! I use the strainer just to keep any little hairs or particles out of the chiller. May not even be needed in reality. I use the HP and really use the Ozone generator weekly and its helping a lot. I do still change the water when it looks needed. I have never changed the water in my Polar Monkeys plunge but change the Ice Barrel water every 2-3 weeks.
