    Cuiv, your outstanding reviews convinced me to purchase one a week or so ago. I am now anxiously waiting for my DWARF II, X'mas Edition. I am fortunate to live and work in one of the darkest places in the country, a place very much dedicated to space-related developments. This combination will allow me to showcase the unit as soon as I receive it. Stay tuned. Greetings from Spaceport America, New Mexico USA

    I don't understand why so many YT channels complain about their autofocusing cameras not getting correct focus when the easy solution is to turn off AF and focus manually. This is especially true in low light situations.
    I've been taking pictures since '63 and know you can never trust AF, so turn it off and focus manually for critical use.
    BTW, I joined my first astronomy club, the Orange County Astronomers (in SoCal), in 1970. The hobby was a wee bit different then.😄
    One of the other members of the club was Alika Herring. You should read up on him. He was a part of some major projects.

      Without a Bahtinov Mask I find focusing to be really difficult! I think we've been spoilt by technology and the high res we can achieve.
      I wrote the current star autofocus algorithm in NINA, including curve fitting. That removes all guesswork and works better than Bahtinov, at least on the scopes I tested it in. And of course with a full kit you can automatically autofocus if HFR drifts due to thermal expansion or contraction.
      That's why I want to see star autofocus in this telescope! And it's dummy proof!

Built obviously to a price point which is night and day ahead of comparable systems, choices have been made on the optics and filtering. and some huge noise issues. Hey Cuiv great info thanks.I pre-ordered one as a fun tool to play with but really I think as you say it is quite limited in alot of areas.I have been speaking with Dwarf and they seem very friendly and helpful.I really think though they should have sent you this much earlier as a beta tester and sorted all these issues you have had.It would have been a buggy terrible thing to use before you got involved and even though it's fantastic they take notice of all of these things you mentioned you are almost fixing things on the fly which seems a bit silly.I just hope they will continue to improve things- as you say it's got potential.

I hope they put the feature in where you can keep the final stacked image for visual observation and be able to play with the histogram. Would you mind posting your recommended ballpark settings for photographing the moon and planets? A couple things I found is the battery life is really short. Full battery went to 15% in less than an hr, mind you it was -5c outside. I will be using a external power source from now on. Also there is no histogram anymore… or I can’t find it. But there is brightness, contrast, hue and saturation settings. Cuiv, for planetary imaging, would it help if the 2x2 binning was turned off and the gain was reduced? • @illcaponesok833
      @illcaponesok833 Před rokem

      Walking noise is due to error of alignment. My guess would be to move the location of the picture (manual dithering) slightly so the walking noise is filtered through dark frames. Although I'm not sure how maneuverable this piece of equipment is for that.

      My guess is you will always have some walking noise until they implement dithering in the future, however you can minimize with dark frames and attempt to polar align, both should help, just keep expectations low, I feel it will get to a point to where it’s acceptable for eaa ….
