  • LET'S TALK ABOUT IT, EP 4: OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER
In episode 4 of our new series Let's Talk About It, we chat with Jenn, Nick, Jessica, Lucy and Samuel about their personal experiences living with OCD, seeking help, and managing their symptoms longterm.
This series was produced by Made of Millions volunteers / carolinenitsch , / kaylachobotiuk , / drewbietru , alongside Canadian Director / ml.kieffer .
    ABOUT LET'S TALK ABOUT IT
You've probably talked to a friend or loved one about mental health at some point in time. Maybe you discussed personal challenges, or those of someone you know.
But what about all the other nuances - specific diagnoses, symptoms, stigmas and treatments. The mental health spectrum is as vast, complex and diverse as we are. Truly caring about mental health, means we're interested in every form and manifestation it comes in, and the individual people living those experiences.
Let's Talk About It is an interview series in which we take mental health conversations a layer deeper. Each episode explores a different condition - depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD, PTSD. By sharing honest and diverse narratives from across the mental health spectrum, we hope to shed light on the individuality of mental illness. And remind sufferers and practitioners alike, that behind every diagnosis, is a person with unique symptoms and experiences.
    ABOUT MADE OF MILLIONS
The Made of Millions foundation is a global advocacy nonprofit on a mission to change how the world perceives mental health.
Each year, millions of people around the world are diagnosed with a mental health condition. People of every age, country, gender and ethnicity. Millions more go undiagnosed, and are forced to battle their symptoms without the care and support they deserve.
As sufferers, we know their pain. We know the isolation they experience at the hands of cultural stigma. We know the anger they feel at media outlets who misrepresent their conditions. And we know the frustration they have with healthcare systems that make it impossible to find help. The Made of Millions Foundation wants to heal this pain.
Using the power of art, media and digital technology, we’re on a mission to transform how the world perceives mental health. And in doing so, create a safer and more inclusive future for sufferers everywhere.

I believe that people who are hyperactive also have a hyperactive Brain. Maybe that causes hyperactive thoughts, fear and loops?
I also suffer with pure O, OCD.

Hey there, I am sorry to hear that ocd is high levels of distress, :( as I am also diagnosed with ocd only since 3 years ago, I am telling you that you are not alone. It s great to reach out and ask for support, also brave, and you can have insight on things. Life overall will get better with treatment, acceptance and commitment, and life can really take a turn for the best, the positive thing for social media, as it has it s downsides, is that the ocd community is more visible and support or guidance or referrals to a therapist, help is more available and maybe then the actual hope increases. To give you a bit of small reassurance "if you doub t over and over if it's ocd or not, it's ocd".

It will never be you. Its the always the OCD. The more you try to reassure yourself that its not you, the more it will feel like it is. And the stronger the emotions grows, the deeper you will have to look into it the thoughts to seek reassurance. The deeper you look into to the thought, the more responsible you will feel for having your feelings, emotions, urges, sensations etc. At the end stage of this vicious circle ocd will tell you, "This time it was you who looked into the thoughts, you wanted the thoughts". You have to be still to let the healing process begin. Only from this perspective will you truly see the thoughts, emotions etc. for what they really are. That they're infact the complete opposite of who you truly are ❤🙏✝️
