Just installed and ran elrs today for the first time, its so good!
Very interesting! I'm running ELRS 1.x on 3 quadcopters, and I just purchased a couple of the Matek receivers that come flashed with 2.0.
I haven't used one yet and have been kind of reluctant to overhaul my working version 1 setup, but some of these changes are amazing. Thanks for all the great information.

I honestly gave up on FPV since late 2019, the human malware pandemic outbreak and the global chip shortage did not really help BUT, this is probably the kind of project which could make me reconsider my decision...

Thinking about giving up on tracer and going expresslrs
Did that 2 months ago. Sold my tracer and even made a profit! ERLS 2.0 is much more polished now, I do not miss anything about the TBS ecosystem, certainly not the price. Just take some time to check what HW to buy, Naminmo and some HM been good choices for TXs, but better to ask in the discord.
You won't regret it.
Great vid, it helped me a lot understanding the basics of these awesome features! I really like what these features do, but honestly I have zero idea how to set up some of it, like model match and controlling my VTX for example. If you could do a series on how to set up and get this stuff working it would be incredible! 😁
I'm sure lots of the RC channels will be covering all of this. ELRS is something lots are interested in.. stay tuned!
After watching this video I am fully on ExpressLRS open software path.
being able to pass gps data from the TX to a phone or laptop for real-time mapping would be awesome!

I got the betafpv micro Tx. Just flashed their firmware and 4 position button is working now.
I am keeping crossfire for my planes and cinewhoop I use indoors a lot but man eveyrthing else gets ELRS!

Excellent!! 1 thing I don't understand is you put the backpack on your number 1 model, connect to your home WiFi to upgrade your firmware, ok BUT ! how does it connect and download firmware to all your other models??

Fantastic interview! I have many questions.
1. Could the bluetooth joycon mode be used on some of the additional channels to manipulate pan-tilt camera or other accessories outside of the standard radio controller?
2. Could there be future support to control my aircraft from a ground station like a laptop and eliminate the standard handheld controller? Wifi seems like a great interface for this, perhaps getting around the need for mavlink and make it easier to work with mission planner. It would also allow me to mount my ground antenna to my house or building vs running tiny coax indoors to a controller.
3. 4000 megabaud is a lot of bandwidth. Any chance of supporting a basic digital video signal over this in the future?
4. Can we backhaul data from from another SPI or serial source? For example those of us who run extra sensors or adafruit style sensors/loggers in our devices for data gathering?
5. As end users how can we best support the success of this project? This seems like it could solve many of my current challenges that result in many separate systems in my aircraft. Especially in future iterations.
1. Currently I'm afraid not but it can be modified to handle more channels
2. There's plans for MAVLink radios based on the same ELRS foundation that will allow for high power radios to be connected to via bluetooth or wifi access points or hardware serial
3. The Megabauds are for communicating between the TX module and the radio itself, the over the air rate is a lot smaller, LoRa in general does not have the bandwidth to support any sort of high bandwidth or data rate transmission as it is the case for digital video
4. That would need a sperate board or flight controller to aggregate and encapsulate that data into CRSF packets and send them over to the RX which in turn can be decoded on the TX side from a telemetry mirror
5. Best way to support it is by using it! We always appreciate feedback on how the system works and what new features need to be added or existing ones improved be it on our Discord server or on GitHub.
Wish matek would get into the TX module game.

I've been using ELRS for a couple of months now and works quite well. My only issue with it is that I can't make a wireless relay like one can do with Dragonlink for instance.
yes, relay function is something important for some minority of pilots, e.g. those flying from their warm car during the cold winter days, or those flying on extreme long range with big patches to be mounted on tripod. Would be great to see this feature available.
@@Mt1Dmitriy I live in Brazil and the sun here can be quite hard on you so we prefer to fly from under some sort of shade whenever possible specially for long-range flights that take a long time.
@@adilsongoliveira certainly, could be many other reasons as well :) Once I was flying through both TX control and video relays quite high in the sky and suddenly dark clouds appeared and heavy rain started - I just hanged some plastic bags on top of each tripod and hid myself in the car :) was flying above the rain clouds for 30 mins and landed when rain was almost gone.
If I understand this correctly.. considering full 10 bit channel resolution is 1024.
Will 7 bit which is a nere 128 positions in HT not be really jerky by comparison?
The ultimate version of ELRS for me would sacrifice a little latency for an additional one or more full res channels.
I appreciate that such a move would likely put Crossfire out of the game and that is not something I wish to see either... but are there any plans for such a move?

OK call it a crazy idea but could the wifi function be suitable to send a signal the FAA would approve? Or might an identifier be sent with telemetry...

Just got my module and its preinstalled with v2.0 on it. Does this mean my AIO elrs FC must get flashed with same? I'm trying all this this week. 🤞🏼🤞🏼
What is the best transmitter module to buy that will be the most future proof? (QX7)
If you are talking about ELRS then it is a little early to tell. Sone of the current HW is playing fast and loose with the specs... Happy flying

I got the betafpv elrs micro tx... I don't understand why they have color LED options that doesn't remember your selection! Have to change it every single time you turn it on! Stupid!
I still have not got mine to work. Took it off and put the xm+ back on. I can’t get the module to flash. Tried installing drivers and everything. It seemed to work then but still an error 2 message. Very frustrating and makes me wish I had gotten crossfire. Maybe id feel different if I could get it to work. 😂
Which module? Some of the early Betafpv units needed something shorting inside to flash. Best of luck
@@Painless360 the small beta fpv 900 module. I tried holding down a button inside while letting it flash. Maybe I should try that again now that I have the correct driver installed I believe. At least now there is something for me to select in elrs configurators manual serial device selection. Before there was nothing
