Hats off to the historic gem cutters ...who did not have the technology we have today... and still produced incredible stones... that monarchies did whatever they could to possess them.
Yes hatsoff to the hestoric gem cutters...

AMEN
I could Never Imagine holding a diamond that size!! Just amazing to watch how they cut them now! Back in the day they had to use a hammer, chisel a steady hand and a prayer!!
james it’s just a rock... a material possession doesn’t give you anything. At death you certainly don’t take it. If I had that rock I
Would toss it in the ocean. It’s worthless in my eyes. People just put price tags in things for their benefit not caring much about ruining the earth in the process.
We still need a prayer when I start my LaserJet cutting machine; what makes it worse, I'm an atheist ;)
Yeah... You're right!
@@nsr5961 And there is a reason you will never have a stone of beauty like this
When I was a twelve year old collector of gems in 1957, my dad left me off in front of Harry Winston's on 5th Avenue. I walked in and asked if I could see the Hope diamond. That was before Winston donated it to the Smithsonian museums. They sat me down at one of the tables where customers sit and eventually a man came with a flat leather case. They opened it and there was the Hope in its necklace. I held it up and felt it for a while. Then they gave me a short tour of the cutting rooms and gave me a small cut diamond that has lost a section during cutting.
Rose from titanic: would look good in the ocean
I'd sketch a portrait of her wearing just that ❤️
@@Ab_someone ahahaha
Yeah, wasn’t that the dumbest scene? She could have sold it at auction then donated the proceeds in honor of Jack Dawson. What good does it do in the ocean? That wasn’t romantic, it was idiocy.

Although the diamond is stunning after it is cut, there is a beauty in it's natural state
I'm really glad that almost none of it was wasted and they really got as many smaller diamonds out of the parts they cut away for the big diamond. 66 smaller diamonds! Remarkable.

My father was a manufac touring jeweller - his hobby - he cut diamonds, before everything was computerised. He had some beautiful diamonds. And the best part was he found them himself - an avid fossicker.

What an amazing jewel! Those gentlemen outdid themselves working this stone. It does make you wonder, before computer generated models and measurements and laser guided cutting, how did traditionally skilled gem cutters create some of the masterpieces that they did? Clearly this art of transformation is a love or passion that guides the gem cutters' vision, whatever they are given to work with.
Exquisite beauty, unparalleled to any other gem stone; beautifully cut, and so mesmerising to look at. Well done.
Euggh wouldnt say so
Wow simply amazing, the technology and handcraft that goes behind that diamond is amazing. Let’s keep in mind that diamonds are the world most hard stone.

It's amazing to be that this used to be done before modern technology.
Their using some serious technology most people use a diamond saw and facet it and polish it down

Excellent, I think may b time atleast 4 to 6 months for polished.
Elizabeth Taylor, would have had gag had she been alive to see this diamond. Imagine going for a walk in the park with that rock. Talk about a cocktail piece. Stunning. I'll just wait and see who buys it. Lucky person investor :)
No one will buy that. It’s too large to do anything with, unless ofcourse you want it in a scepter for which no one will have any use. 😂
And Elizabeth Taylor said specifically her carat weight cap was 80ct. “After that you can’t wear them”.
LaDivinaLover: Oh, some filthy rich person will definitely buy it. Many wealthy people enjoy spending BIG on things that give them bragging rights. Owning this stone guarantees bragging rights. Of course, there are also reclusive obscenely rich people who spend BIG on rare items because they want to possess something so rare.
@@cw5451 not just that, a stone like this is a good investment
Stone like that (any quality diamonds really, it’s their principle purpose) have only one use, making wealth portable and concealable.

As recession fears mount on Wall Street and inflation remains
well above the Fed's 2% target, some of the top commentators in
markets, business, and economics have been sounding off on just
how bad they think the next downturn might be - and how far
stocks may have to fall. I need ideas and advice on what investments
to make to set myself up for retirement, my goal is to have a portfolio
of at least $850k at the age of 60
It's precisely at times like these that investors need to be on
guard against the next certainty. You don't have to act on
every forecast, hencei will suggest you get yourself a
financial-advisor that can provide you with entry and exit
points on the shares/ETF you focus on.
@@leonardmorris1731 I agree. Based on personal experience working with an
investment advisor, I currently have $385k in a

strong hands to back it up.

Wow.Congratulations!
I have a question. During the "sandpaper" phase, where does the excess material go? it gets lost?
Used for other industry like cutting heavy metal needs diamond, and also diamond dust is useful too. There are many ways to recycle a diamond trash. Any cutting equipment has diamond now.

A shiny rock given a high inflated value by De Beers Sa corporation, who control everything about diamonds, from mining to polishing; they also keep them rare so the price is always high.

Adam Ruins Everything?
Nope - large diamonds are rare
The amount of earth that has been cleared in search of diamonds, no they are not rare even very large ones there are truck loads stored in vaults, and trickled out to maintain rarity, if the majority of the public really knew how many and how large diamonds can be it would devalue their product. Just look at diamond sales the day after Christmas, slashed by half price, and they don't even hold value if you try to sell them second hand, it all about buying new, expensive, fresh cut diamonds.
