"Ko Ko Bop" was co-written by Exo members, Chen, Chanyeol and Baekhyun. Chanyeol said "Ko Ko Bop" is a fun dancing.

one of the theories for this MV is that the EXO, that had been captured by the Red Force in one of the previous MVs, are now under the influence of some drugs (the candy with their logo at the begging 7:35 ) that the Red Force gave them to experiment on them, and the whole video is about the dream that their are having while they are uncouncious, in fact during the video you can sometime notice flashes of light (8:04/10:14) that are like the one in hospitals and labs.
The other theory if I'm not wrong is that their powers are acting up because their spaceship got crashed onto earth so they can't control their powers there so it's all crazy and they're frustrated because they're stuck there

To understand the story in "Ko Ko Bop" you have to know and keep in mind that the story in "Ko Ko Bop" is connected to their story in "Lucky One."
"Ko Ko Bop" may look trippy and crazy, but if you understand EXO's storyline you will see that everything was done for a specific reason.
I can see how people might think that Ko Ko Bop is a drug they are all taking and that is why they are acting like they are high and kind of in a loopy drugged-like state. But to really understand the "Ko Ko Bop" MV you have to remember what was happening in their "Lucky One" MV. In "Lucky One" EXO has been captured by the Red Force who is doing experiments on EXO to try and figure out what makes them special, and to find a way to prevent them from finding and protecting the Tree of Life, etc. The members all use their powers to escape from the government facility and this is where theories say that the story in "Ko Ko Bop" picks up right after they have escaped in "Lucky One". The blue Ko Ko Bop drink that Suho mixes and the members drink, and the pills or wafers you see them eating, is supposed to be an elixir that is helping the members to detox from the drugs the Red Force gave them when they were being held against their will in the government facility in the "Lucky One" MV.
According to SM Entertainment the story in "Ko Ko Bop" also shows the members soon after they have arrived on Earth and they are all experimenting with their powers.
So in "Ko Ko Bop" you see Kai with the power of teleportation using his power to levitate and Suho with the power to control water jumps into the water and disappears, etc. You see Chen with the power of thunder/lightning/electricity playing with his power and you see Beakhyun use his power of light as he throws the ball in the air and creates that huge flash of light and Chanyeol uses his power of fire to create the fireworks when he bounces the ball into the sky. D.O. accidentally uses his power of strength/force and splits open the ground when he falls down, etc. Xiumin has the power of snow/ice/frost so he is using his power to create a cloud to fill the glass. The car looks like it's driving by itself because they are using their powers to control the car, etc. Their unbridled use of their powers and the haphazard way they play with their environment around them can be explained by the fact that they were drugged in "Lucky One" and while they are still dealing with the drugs in their system, in "Ko Ko Bop" their inhibitions are lowered and they use their powers without caution.
So part of their story goes: The members were trapped in the Maze by the Red Force in "Overdose" and while they were trapped they were captured and moved to the government facility in "Lucky One" and after escaping in "Lucky One" we see them detoxing in "Ko Ko Bop."
However, since then, we now have "Obsession's" part of the story where we have discovered that the Red Force has created X-EXO clones. So some theories now think that instead of "Ko Ko Bop" being about the EXO members, it might be showing us X-EXO. If you remember in "Obsession," the members in the bright colors with the crazy hair and makeup were the X-EXO clones and the members in the all black outfits were EXO. So now some theories think that maybe because "Ko Ko Bop" is so colorful, that it is showing us X-EXO right after they were brought to life, and this is their first time out in the world. So X-EXO are playing with their powers and trying to figure out how they work, and they are getting acclimated to their environment, etc.
Everything EXO does has something to do with their storyline and their origin story including every single one of their MVs, most of their Sub-unit MVS, Solo MVs, live performances and choreography, as well as teaser videos and concert VCRs. Nothing is random or done without a specific purpose and meaning and it's our job as fans to piece it all together. So "Ko Ko Bop" is only a small part of EXO's story.
But, as you can see, to make it even more difficult to follow, nothing is in chronological order. We have to become detectives and analyze everything that EXO does in order to try and figure out where each pace fits within the larger storyline. However, at this point it's only theories and educated guesses. With every new release from EXO it adds another piece to their story. Sometimes that new piece helps to confirm what we thought was happening and other times it turns everything on its head and we realize that what we thought was happening wasn't even close. We can only hope that someday SM will finally explain everything, so we will know whether what we have been thinking all along is correct.
To help you pinpoint the powers being used in their MVs and live performances here is a list of the members and what their special power is.
EXO-K
💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeo) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho)
💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light
🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix.
🌏D.O. (Do KyungSoo) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control earth (dirt) which gives him strength/force
☄Kai (Kim JongIn) is a main dancer, lead vocalist and sub-rapper and his power is teleportation
(Kai means door or gateway, so his stage name is meant to symbolize his role in the group.)
🌪Sehun is the youngest member of the group and he is a lead rapper, lead dancer and a vocalist -- his power is the ability to control wind
EXO-M
❄Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) is the oldest member of the group and he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper and his power is the ability to control snow/ice (frost)
🦄 Lay (Zhang Yixing) is the Chinese member of the group, he is a main dancer, lead vocalist and rapper -- his power is the ability to heal anything.
🌩 Chen (Kim JongDae) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control thunder/lightning/electricity
(As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M because they are the Korean members of the Chinese group)
The Chinese members that are no longer part of the group:
🐉 Kris was the leader of EXO-M he was a main rapper and vocalist -- his power was the ability to fly and his spirit animal was a dragon
💭 Luhan was a main vocalist and his power was telekinesis (The ability to control things with his mind)
⏰Tao (Z.Tao) was a lead rapper and vocalist and the martial artist of the group, so he did the flips and stunts in the group's routines. His power was the ability to control time

So this MV is tied into their concept (as most of their MV's are) and directly connect to their superpowers.
In this MV, there are 8 members.
Xiumin (Shoomin): black hair, starting at the glass with the cloud snowing over it. His power is Frost (hence the snowing cloud).
Suho (Sue-Hoe): brown permed hair, jumped in the table and splashed, was chilling in the washing machine, had the dripping coat. His power is Water. Hence all of the water related moments.
Baekhyun (Beck-Hyuhn): Red and burgundy mullet, he slammed the basketball at the end and it turned into the huge light flash. His power is Light. Hence the light blast, and also him basking in the sun.
Chen: Blonde hair, was chilling in the bathtub touching the wires together and making them spark and the burgers get static-y. His power is Thunder/Lightning, hence his ability to control electricity.
Chanyeol (Chan-Yee-ole): Cotton candy colored hair, super tall, rapper. He slammed the basketball and it exploded into fireworks. His power is Fire, hence the fireworks.
D.O. (Dee-Oh): Short guy with the shortest hair, and the roundest eyes, hung out in the woods mostly. He fell back and cracked the ground with his head. His power is Force/Power (earth sort of), hence his head cracking the ground, not the ground cracking his head.
Kai: Ab-boy, with dreds. He was floating on the cloud while reading, and was dancing next to the moving car (or on the treadmill). His power is Teleportation. Hence floating on the cloud, I think.
Sehun (Say-Hoon): Orange haired, tall, tattoo on his chest, unbuttoned shirt. His power is Wind. Not sure if he used it in the vid or if it was represented. I am wondering if he was responsible for the car, and plants floating in the air in the beginning. Or for the burgers floating in the air?
Lay: not in the video. Only Chinese member. Not currently promoting. His power is Healing.
They originally started with 12 and each had/s a superpower, because on their planet (EXOplanet) having superpowers is a thing. 3 members left, so they are down to 9. 8 Korean, 1 Chinese. The 1 Chinese member hasn't promoted with the group since Monster era (2016) but he is still an active member. As of today, 3 are now in the military (cry): Xiumin (he gets out December 6th, 2020), D.O. (he gets out in January 2021), and Suho (he just enlisted today...doesn't get out until 2021....WAHHHHHH!).

Yes. Power is a very uplifting song with a cheerful melody and the song was chosen for the Winter Olympic 2018 by the Korean governmenth since the message fits the whole Olympic concept to give all the athletes motivation. EXO got commemorative medals from the government, being called the Nation's Pick, and the song has got the title "the national anthem" since then. The day remains one of the BEST EXO and EXO-Ls day.
