The first few collab skins from 2019 all have "outfit" in their name, and are built on top of a Default skin for some reason. That includes the original "Black Widow Outfit" and "Star Lord Outfit" skins, in addition to the two original Batman skins. I think the idea was that you're not actually playing as the character, but rather someone dressed up as them? I'm not really sure. Once collabs became a non-stop mainstay in 2020 with Deadpool, Captain American, Aquaman, and eventually that entire Marvel season, they dropped the whole "outfit" thing, and just made generally accurate models of the characters.
The older collab skins being built upon default skins was probably just a lazy way to integrate them within the Fortnite art style rather than any deeper reason.

We have Fortnite Creative maps that make a better authentic batman gameplay, yesterday I was playing Metal Gear maps for the new Solid Snake skin and they really give an authentic stealth metal gear experience when you put the skin and remove most of the fornite UI

If we get an updated Batman skin (as opposed to them just updating the one that already exists) I think the best way to do it would be to make it a quest pack, where you buy the skin and only have one suit (say, for instance, the first appearance suit) and also unlock unique quests that will give you the other suits as styles. As for what suits, the first appearance and an updated version of the classic comic outfit would both be a given; I think having Rebirth, the blue and gray suit with the yellow oval emblem, and the zurr en arrh outfits would also be pretty good choices
I was surprised when they decided not to make a Robert Pattinson Batman skin in 2022. I would have bought it immediately since the only Batman I have is the weird Zero Point one. :( They should make a blue and gray one with the yellow logo and an additional cel-shaded style like the Daredevil skin has

As for them adding Robert Pattinson, it probably won’t happen since Robert Pattinson genuinely dislikes Fortnite. But with enough money and persuading, it could happen. After all, if DC wants that money then it’s not up to Robert Pattinson and he won’t stop it from happening.

100% agree. The original Batman skin really does feel outdated in comparison to modern crossover skins. It’s also mildly frustrating that the newer Batman skins are much more up to date, but aren’t standard designs for him. It’s a shame because Fortnite's artists go crazy with their original designs for standard look comic characters. Like TMNT recently looks incredible, Leonardo is like my favorite skin in the game right now. Makes me wonder how the TMNT skins would have looked like if they came out back in chapter 1. They probably would have looked like cuddle team leader, just a regular default character wearing a turtle costume and mask, kinda like Jonesy wearing a Batman suit like the first Batman skin.

Instead they gave him a makeshift pickaxe. Personally, I think his tools should’ve been a pair of armored gloves that effectively play the same as a pickax but have different animations to make it look as if you’re throwing punches and kicks, but maybe that’s asking a bit too much. Honestly, although I’ve never really played Fortnite except for one or two times with my younger brother, all of the marvel/DC costumes do you kind of tempt me to give it a shot. There would be some kind of fun to be had pretending to be one of my favorite superheroes as I attempt to take out the competition
I think a slightly more realistic pickaxe that would still fit Batman perfectly would be using the dual-wielding formula to make Batarangs that he holds in each hand
The gloves were not a thing back then, BUT we do have pickaxe in that style now so it is possible. Also there is no custom guns everyone has a harvesting tool

Hopefully they will update the skin and possibly add a new skin for batmans 85th anniversary this year. Fortnite has recently updated the John wick skin to add his 1st and 4th film suits despite no new film announced or anything coming. They rarely if not never update collab skins the only other skin that was updated were the Harley Quinn skins due to the birds of prey film coming out. If the original skins don’t get updated, they would most likely add new skins for Batman day this year, I’m personally hoping a Batman Beyond skin. It would make no sense for Fortnite to do neither.
Also Megabat glider goes really well with Comic book Batman AND actually looks very close to original batplane design by Bob Kane from DC 33 or 34 and Batman #1. Even the fact that it isn't black is on-canon to the original batplane color.
Maybe something like Daredevil where it’s an optional toggle. I love the cel-shaded skins but I wouldn’t want to look like that all the time, especially when all the other DC skins don’t
His default look I actually like a lot. It's actually very similar to his DC Rebirth with the lining, but with the New 52 logo. The Dark Knight Trilogy though is awful. The forehead is so damn big and the limbs are so scrawny. I have no opinions on the others.
I've had the same issues with the cowls and capes on the batman skins for years but it always felt like nitpicking, it's really funny that the batman who laughs is like the only one of them that's perfect 😭. This video almost perfectly encompasses my thoughts on the situation, it'd be cool to get a new skin similar to the comic book outfit but with the same quality of modern collabs, (ideally with longer ears and a big ass cape similar to the darth vader skin lol)
I understand that people don’t like the classic Batman just using jonesy’s face model but I honestly don’t mind, I grew up watching the dc animated movies based off the comic books so the new52 style costume and jonesy face look a lot like those to me which I love.
The arkham series batman is rumored to be added in the future. Tabor hill also did a old video for future possible collaborations. And doom slayer was on that exact list which did end up getting added.
I would love to have a blue and grey batsuit. I would also love either the original animated series skin from season 1 to 3 and the Arkham suit. It would be so cool to see the batfamily and Bane as well. A Harley Quinn skin that would be neat to see is the original animated series jester skin.

My fav Batman skin is still Batman Comic Book outfit. Love it still. I’ve always been a stickler for collab skins that are officially a collab, but still have very heavily Fortnite attributes. Like how this skin is just Jonsey in a suit. Or how OG Black widow is one of the default girl skins.

I don't know if we'll see another Batman variant skin anytime soon. Before, it was just WB being annoying and therefore probably not allowing any new DC skins to be made. Think about the last time you've seen a DC skin in the item shop, anyways. Now there's also the partnership with Disney, which could have at least a little influence on Epic's decision making.
I would say however that the first two iterations of Batman aren’t actually supposed to be Batman. I mean yes it is “Batman” but they specifically choose the word “Batman comic book outfit” as it’s not actually Batman in the flesh but more so a “what if” a Fortnite character was cosplaying as Batman for a collab between the 2 franchises. This is also applied with the Starlord outfit and Black Widow outfit from marvel, both using Fortnite characters ie: drift and headhunter. I feel as though if Fortnite were to make another Batman skin, they would make it as accurate to Batman himself, kind of like how they made an actual Black Widow skin later on.
The comic book outfit was made in 2019 which was only 1 year after that new 52 suit went away so they get a pass for that and Fortnite didn't have many capes in the game before that so they get a pass for shitty capes and Batman zero is good cuz in the comic it makes sense
I'd love to see Nightwing and Red Hood. Red Hood of course uses guns in the comics. Maybe Batman should use rubber bullets. My favorite suit would have to the be the Justice League Unlimited suit or the BTAS suit.

Didn't see anyone mention this, but they actully did update the comic book outfit for the DC trinity loading screen when Wonder Woman came out. They added glowing eyes and changed the gauntlets. Wish they'd at least release that updated version as a style since it's already done.
this has been bugging me for a minute, i’d love to see how Fortnite designs a classic Batman skin. selectable styles would be great too, feel like the default skin would be a sort of combo between New 52, Rebirth and Jim Lee’s classic Batman look, or something close to the Batman Inc. suit. it’d definitely be grey and black but i could see them also offering a blue and grey variant with the yellow emblem if the default didn’t already have it. in the actual crossover comic Batman’s pretty much rocking the Jim Lee look but i got a feeling they’d exclude the underwear, idk why tho lol

I can't get how someone could complain about Batman' skins looks when there's that total monstrosity that is Deathstroke Zero skin. That thing is an insult to actual deathstroke
Hopefully they will update the skin and possibly add a new skin for batmans 85th anniversary this year.
Fortnite has recently updated the John wick skin to add his 1st and 4th film suits despite no new film announced or anything coming. They rarely if not never update collab skins the only other skin that was updated were the Harley Quinn skins due to the birds of prey film coming out.
If the original skins don’t get updated, they would most likely add new skins for Batman day this year, I’m personally hoping a Batman Beyond skin. It would make no sense for Fortnite to do neither.

Also Megabat glider goes really well with Comic book Batman AND actually looks very close to original batplane design by Bob Kane from DC 33 or 34 and Batman #1. Even the fact that it isn't black is on-canon to the original batplane color.

His default look I actually like a lot. It's actually very similar to his DC Rebirth with the lining, but with the New 52 logo. The Dark Knight Trilogy though is awful. The forehead is so damn big and the limbs are so scrawny. I have no opinions on the others.
I've had the same issues with the cowls and capes on the batman skins for years but it always felt like nitpicking, it's really funny that the batman who laughs is like the only one of them that's perfect 😭. This video almost perfectly encompasses my thoughts on the situation, it'd be cool to get a new skin similar to the comic book outfit but with the same quality of modern collabs, (ideally with longer ears and a big ass cape similar to the darth vader skin lol)
I feel like Batman Zero should be given an edit style before his time in the Loop, classic black and grey with underwear, would’ve save it imo.

The arkham series batman is rumored to be added in the future. Tabor hill also did a old video for future possible collaborations. And doom slayer was on that exact list which did end up getting added.
I would love to have a blue and grey batsuit. I would also love either the original animated series skin from season 1 to 3 and the Arkham suit. It would be so cool to see the batfamily and Bane as well. A Harley Quinn skin that would be neat to see is the original animated series jester skin.

Hopefully they add more BATMAN skins this year. I personally would like to see Batman The animated series skin, death metal Batman (from DC's Dark nights death metal) and White lantern Batman
They also most likely didn't have a very long robe type cowl for batman because the cape may have looked weird putting a gun in aim. (Just a theory)

The exo-glider is the backbling, its one of those reactive ones you had mentioned. Its honestly super cool even though the armored batman looks goofy.

My fav Batman skin is still Batman Comic Book outfit. Love it still. I’ve always been a stickler for collab skins that are officially a collab, but still have very heavily Fortnite attributes. Like how this skin is just Jonsey in a suit. Or how OG Black widow is one of the default girl skins.

I don't know if we'll see another Batman variant skin anytime soon. Before, it was just WB being annoying and therefore probably not allowing any new DC skins to be made. Think about the last time you've seen a DC skin in the item shop, anyways. Now there's also the partnership with Disney, which could have at least a little influence on Epic's decision making.
I would say however that the first two iterations of Batman aren’t actually supposed to be Batman. I mean yes it is “Batman” but they specifically choose the word “Batman comic book outfit” as it’s not actually Batman in the flesh but more so a “what if” a Fortnite character was cosplaying as Batman for a collab between the 2 franchises. This is also applied with the Starlord outfit and Black Widow outfit from marvel, both using Fortnite characters ie: drift and headhunter. I feel as though if Fortnite were to make another Batman skin, they would make it as accurate to Batman himself, kind of like how they made an actual Black Widow skin later on.
The comic book outfit was made in 2019 which was only 1 year after that new 52 suit went away so they get a pass for that and Fortnite didn't have many capes in the game before that so they get a pass for shitty capes and Batman zero is good cuz in the comic it makes sense

Didn't see anyone mention this, but they actully did update the comic book outfit for the DC trinity loading screen when Wonder Woman came out. They added glowing eyes and changed the gauntlets. Wish they'd at least release that updated version as a style since it's already done.

this has been bugging me for a minute, i’d love to see how Fortnite designs a classic Batman skin. selectable styles would be great too, feel like the default skin would be a sort of combo between New 52, Rebirth and Jim Lee’s classic Batman look, or something close to the Batman Inc. suit. it’d definitely be grey and black but i could see them also offering a blue and grey variant with the yellow emblem if the default didn’t already have it. in the actual crossover comic Batman’s pretty much rocking the Jim Lee look but i got a feeling they’d exclude the underwear, idk why tho lol
