I'm barely 2 minutes in and I'm already loving it!!
I'm usually not a fan of DA books because there is usually a lot of unnecessary murder and domestic abuse involved. Like, in the secret history. Henry killed 2 bulldogs by poisoning them to death. It had nothing to do with the story lol
BUT! the aesthetic, lifestyle and fashion is to die for 😍

dark academia doesn’t alwayssss have to be centered around a university setting, necessarily. it’s more about the pursuit, and the romanticization of that pursuit, of knowledge! which is more often than not at a university lol. but the picture of dorian gray for example, veryyyy dark academia, just not in a uni setting!!!
Ooo that’s an interesting take. I never really considered Dorian Gray to be dark academia !
The first book was okay but the second and third book of Truly devious series is great
Not a dark academia book, but I got Security from my local library and will probably be starting it soon. I had never heard of this book until you talked about it on your channel. I'm excited to see how I like it.

Omg I did not like Catherine House either I felt like I was the only one who felt that way! It was so odd and it didn’t feel elitist school it felt like halfway my house idk the main character was like troubled youth idk what’s up with character name “baby” it was too distracting I thought that character was a child so it felt more like orphanage 🤷♀️ so that lipstick color when you talk about dnf info the Furies is amazing! You mentioned so many titles I havnt seen on anyone else’s lists! I can’t wait to check out Vita Nostra and the truants!

I had never heard of "The Truants" but recently it seems everywhere I look, I see this specific book. This seems to have all the right elements for a great dark academia book, especially because of what it seems the flowery prose, so seeing all your reactions just convinced me to pick it up as soon as I'm done with the books I'm currently reading. I love this kind of videos, really enjoyed it!
Yes! I hope you like it! I know a lot of reviews said it was too slow but, if done right, slow novels can be some of my favorites!
Catherine House and Truly Devious are on my TBR, I'm currently reading A Good Girl's Guide To Murder and Truly Devious reminds me of that

A vignette is a brief description of a scene. So they are short pages of scenes that bounce around.
I googled the definition because I feel like they explained it better than I just did lol: “Vignette is a small impressionistic scene, an illustration, a descriptive passage, a short essay, a fiction or nonfiction work focusing on one particular moment; or giving an impression about an idea, character, setting, mood, aspect, or object.”

I noticed she pronounces 'moving' like 'movin'/'interesting' like 'interestin' and I find it so cute :') is it a type of pronunciation typical from some region of the US? now going to to finish the vlog wheeee we love dark academia books :')
I always get asked that! I tell people it’s a mixture of a NJ/NYC accent but tbh idk
