    FAQ:
Where are you from? Are you Japanese?
    - I am Swedish.
For how long have you lived in Japan?
    - I came to Japan in 2008.
Why did you move to Japan?
    - I was interested in Japan since I was a child, largely thanks to growing up playing a lot of (Japanese) videogames as well as a brief interest in anime during my teenage years. When I finally came here for the first time I felt that it was a really nice and interesting country, and I decided to do what I could to move here permanently.
How did you get a visa to Japan?
    - It's complicated and my case is quite different from most, as I've always been self-employed. But basically, as long as you can show the immigration authorities that you have a stable income, there's usually a way. Personally, I was here on journalist visas until a few years ago when I got married. Now I have a spouse visa.
    Do you work in Japan?
    - Yes, I'm a photographer. Currently, most of my work is related to tourism and travel in Japan, but I also do portrait photography as well as documentary work. I used to write news stories and articles about Japan as well, mostly for newspapers in Sweden, but for the last 3-4 years, my work has been almost exclusively about photography. Sometimes I appear on TV too.
    What camera do you use?
    - My live walks are recorded with my phone, a Oneplus 8 Pro, mounted on a DJI OM4 Gimbal. For my "real work", I mostly use a Nikon Z7, but I also have a Z6, Fujifilm X-T3, Leica Q and Ricoh GR III that comes with me from time to time.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to move to Japan?
    - Study, learn a skill that's in demand in Japan. There are plenty of available jobs here. Some knowledge of the Japanese language would also help a lot, not just to get you a job, but also so that you can actually enjoy life while living here as well.
    How did you learn Japanese?
    - I went to language school in Tokyo for one year in 2010-2011. After that, I've also taken some online courses and studied on my own.
How many languages do you speak?
    - Swedish, English and Japanese reasonably well, and also a bit of German, as I lived there before coming to Japan.
    Will you make bicycle videos?
    - No. Streaming and interacting with my viewers while riding a bike would be too dangerous.
    Can you show your face?
    - I prefer to keep a bit of privacy here on CZcams, at least for the time being. I do streams exclusive to my Patreon followers from time to time where I show my face though, so if you are really eager to see what I look like, and if you want to support the channel as well, you should consider joining me there. / tokyoexplorer

@tokyoexplorer Thank you so much for these train line videos. This took great stamina and will to do. Appreciate it. Look forward to you adding mugs and t-shirts and more posters to the merch store. Especially some "Cone-spiracy" gear, and maps of the routes or train lines. Pictures of you trips to the islands would be cool too. Keep up the great work 👍!!

Ah yes the one of the oldest discussions I ever had regarding Japanese. Rather confusing their use of one word for blue and green. Up to the point that you can cause an entire prefecture (aomori) to have an existential crisis.
Historically they did not have a word separating the two colours, some even claim they did not even distinguish between the colours.
The specified term for green (midori) came in so late that the word ao was so culturally ingrained that having them use midori for trafic lights might take another generation or three / four.

What an epic walk! Really, really enjoyed this one. Felt like a day in the life of TE as we followed you from the start through a coffee break then lunch then finally to the destination, with some interesting diversions along the way. Glad to hear the merch is doing well and that cones are on the way! What about TE logo t-shirts with some famous phrases on them? E.g. "Are we live?" or "Weather report" 😁

Green Traffic lights: sometimes the green tends to blue, depending on the angle you're looking at it. Maybe that could be the reason?
@2:40:58 you can see the left light's a little bluish, while the light to the right shines green. And @2:41:28 you can see it clearly

Kebap Wrap or as we call it here in Germany DÜRÜM DÖNER is the best. I only eat that at turkish places. Less messy to eat than a regular Döner Tasche or as it is called there Kepab Sandwich. Also the hot black tea that they normaly offiially don't have on the menu is amazing.
But this frenchfry and Döner filled Torpedo that she made in the background would be amazing too. Bloody hell it's 10 to midnight and I want a Döner NOW :-D

    • @_MacGuffin_
      @_MacGuffin_ Před 3 lety

@@TokyoExplorer there are differences...I believe the Berlin Döner is mostly out of minced meat. I like the real one better. There are even laws now that forbid the minced meat Kebap to be called Döner :-D
      but no one cares :-D
