Yeah that was done solely for cinematic effect, so they could get the camera shot of them looking up in disbelief. In real life NOBODY would step close to a pile of guts and acid that is still very much active. Well Jesse might but Walt absolutely would've known better.

I feel bad about Pinkman in this scene, dude has a hole on his home's ceiling where his bathtub used to be and a lot of chunks of person around the floor and the walls, and he has to listen to his chemistry teacher saying how stupid he is.

Hydrofluoric acid is very toxic, like one drop on your skin and there is a high chance you are a goner. I wondered why they didnt use sulfuric acid for the story. It would actually be in high school chemisty class and it would be better for this kind of "job"

Not if it is dissolved. This is true for 100% HF, but if it is dissolved, it can behave like any other strong acid.
