Get in the habit of pressing L Everytime you go to ledge during your recovery. The timing is pretty lenient. But yeah these guys are on another level for sure
I still remember our first game and I amsah tech'd vs you LOL, don't down smash the kid!!! Also love your content bro happy to see you blowing up!! Much love :D
I’ve gotten a tech like Hugs did against the moon before but it was against fox fsmash as marth at like 110. Completely accidental and looked weird as hell to just warp to ledge. Coolest thing I’ve done yet tho.
This video is a really good lesson on what not to do for edgeguarding at high percent. Weak moves that dont put you in knockdown become really strong because you cant tech. Pika uair, weak knee, shine on some chars. Learn your weak hit setups
why they keep doing normal wall tech instead of walltechjump? If that doc getting Dsmashed by falco just did a walljump -> up B, he'd have lived. Like I get that hindsight is 20/20, but They had more than enough time to react and do the walljump by the third tech, yet they still didn't. Not to mention, there's like a million clips in this video that have a dude teching a wall fifty times in a row, gaining percent, and even dying at the end. For what?
why don't marth's neutral B??? There's longer lasting frames, less hitstun than a tipper so smash di'ing is harder and it's lower than a tipper so you can hit them lower than the sweetspot.
I've actually often wondered this too, if you can charge neutral b even a little bit then I think it might be better than fsmash in most cases, but im not a marth main so not 100% sure
The reason is because f smash comes out faster and hits for more frames (making it more lenient to hit the opponent). F smash hits on frames 10-13 (inclusive), which neutral B hits on frames 19-20 (inclusive), making is a lot slower. This is why you see a lot of people sneak under marth neutral b (or Roy's more often, since its one of his few "good" moves for knockback) and snap to ledge first, you have to be quite preemptive to hit someone with it. Less hitlag (not hitstun) definitely makes it a little harder to tech, but the window is still 5 frames, which is pretty decent for a ledge techable window. For reference, most people who are good at ledge teching would be able to hit the ledge tech on Marth's down tilt (very common option for stopping sweetspots) consistently, and that window is 5 or 6 frames of hitlag, so I think teching neutral b is about the same difficulty as that, with the downside that it is much slower. Also, it hits only a few melee units lower, which doesn't make a different for most recoveries. Most recoveries either get hit by f smash and d-tilt or they can sweetspot from so far away that no grounded move will hit (thinking sweetspot G&W up b). Most characters get hit by these moves if they are timed correctly. Now, an interesting idea is to use neutral B a few times to hit your opponent, see if they ledge tech it and get them used to the timing. Then, after the conditioning, do down tilt since it hits so much sooner and is unreactable, so it will completely throw off their SDI timing. One last thing, neutral B is a potentially great idea if you are running to get an edge guard from somewhere else, you can short hop neutral b and use your running / jump travel time to get the move out right as they reach edge and right as you reach there. A possible benefit is that you can start the attack while moving, unlike f-smash (unless it is out of a Wavedash ofc), so you can "theoretically" reach the edge from farther away than if you f-smashed (not super convinced on this, but see the following anyway) You either time and space it right (which is hard, but doable) so you hit them or you are late to hit them (most likely), but neutral b's recovery time is very short after the hitbox comes out (you can act 10 frames after the hitbox comes out, unlike the 38 frames of delay after f smash comes out), so you might be able to dash away / shield before they can punish you. So it ends up being safe to try from far away and is a different timing mixup from downtilt (the other possibility to use here instead) - with the added benefit that neutral b also covers a higher recovery, so you can use it if a spacie is mixing up high (marth head height) vs low (sweetspot) side b for exampe. Gonna have to try out what I said in the last paragraph, that was entirely theory crafting, I've never tested it, but its a neat idea. Plus, using a B move makes you cooler than using f smash, right????
@@Nation123 well even after the neutral b it's enough to go out there and edgeguard most characters after like 40 percent. You can also jump a little and the neutral b goes even lower when used midair.
@@michaelwaters1358 there's definitely longer hitboxes on the neutral b, tipper is active for about 3, neutral b for about 6-7, and in a teaching situation you don't need to worry about startup frames at all

its weird as hell
ive noticed that too idk why that is
Their up b are very predictable and you can tech at the same timing most times
I think they are some of the few characters who can tech without having to sdi, since they’re up b’s can clip them into the stage a bit

Walltech jumps aren't even difficult either, just hold up. In fact, you can hold up and mash b to immediately start a recovery after walltech jumping.
LOL yeah honestly no clue why they keep doing normal techs
