I have never seen this film but saw so many reviews and feel it has lots of problems.

I do agree is not a good movie, but the dragon wanting to kill 3 daughters every generation, it is the only reasonable thing. 3 of its daughters were worth more than any human lives they could offer. Other than that the whole movie could bave been resolved very quickly the moment she realized the dragon was sentient. Anyway the dragon is a creature not bound by human morale so yeah
