  • We installed the HKS Hipermax S coilovers on the GR Corolla, and now we drive it.
    Having let the suspension settle a bit, we go for a test drive to compare how the HKS coilovers feel to the stock GR Corolla suspension.
    SPOILER ALERT: Its NIGHT AND DAY better.

    I'm in the Texas hill country. I rip in ever morning to swim at Barton Springs.The curves are great fun when there is no traffic. My GR handles great.

    Setup is 2600+ on most sites. There are comparable ones that perform at this level for half… one example is the Tanabe revel

    • @CarQuicks
      @CarQuicks  Před 2 měsíci +1

      You can get them for lower then $2600 by inquiring with all those site, similar to how my friend did. The site says a price, you can inquire and A LOT of them are running internal deals. As for comparable performance, that metric will depend on the driver. I've been in a car with the Tanabe Revel, its not as good as these. Helper springs, spring rate on the HKS and the damping are the key differentiators, and the roads local to the owner.
      There are definitely other options that are cheaper, but the comparison would have to account for the price and with the price come certain levels of performance and engineering.

      HKS is designed in-house, has superior construction quality and 3 year warranty. HKS is the closest to OEM-like quality and fit. I got mine brand new for a Nissan GTR for $2400.

    I just put mine on today. Previously had swift springs with the factory shock and I agree the hks is so much better.!!

    Thanks for the videos. I'm likely going to buy these coilovers. Question: For the cowl, did you end up cutting holes for damper adjustment access? Also, how do the rear shocks get it's damping adjusted?

    • @gr4rce
      @gr4rce Před měsícem +1

      The struts are Inverted so the front dampening adjustments are at the bottom. You just need to cut the wheel all the way and reach under to adjust. For the rear there is a stick that reaches the strut through the wheel well. All dampening adjustments can be done without having to jack up the car.

      @@gr4rceoh interesting. Thanks. I’m sold. I was thinking annex was the only company that has inverted fronts.

    The drawback with these are for the amount of money they should come with camber plates. I don't see any camber adjustments on these...

    • @CarQuicks
      @CarQuicks  Před 12 dny

      You aren't wrong about the camber adjustments on plates being missing. That was left for the Hipermax Rs. However, camber plates will add more harshness to the ride quality, which for the Hipermax S coilovers is aimed towards ride comfort with added performance.
