Had my 2012 Malibu LTZ do this yesterday while driving home - check engine light, reduced power (significantly) and a bunch of codes. I just knew I was in for a thousand dollar repair bill. I looked at about 10 CZcams videos that all pointed to the throttle sensor or other sensors - all high dollar repairs. Then I saw this video. I said there was no way I'd ever get that lucky, but figured it was worth a try before parting with a grand. Sonuvagun.... it friggin' worked! I found a bad fuse, replaced it for something like 50 cents and my car is running great again! Thank you, thank you, thank you for putting this video up! You should get the Nobel Prize for auto repair videos!!!
@@DarrenDraven - Thanks for asking. No further problems encountered, other than a tire pressure warning light that illuminated for two days and went away. I'm thinking that's unrelated and likely a sensor going out.

Good evening, i just spent 1469 to replace the oil pump control valve that the dealership said was stuck on plus 2 oxygen sensors only for the engine light and engine reduce power to come back on today. Update, had the gas pedal replaced and the car was driving perfect only to have the message come back on. Cat still drives normal but the message and engine light is on again.

P0171 was a pain for me. I got the letter about the oil control valve that was going to fail. Fixed that, $600 later and then the same code again, it was a cam sensor on mine. Mine is a 2014. I'm car dumb and I watched a video to fix it myself. The sensor was like $60 and 2 bolts

Update: fixed it I had to buy a accelerator pedal sensor. They’re like $120 plus tax at O’riellys. The chevy dealership will fix it for free I heard not sure tho but they were busy and I would’ve had to leave my car for a week before it got looked so I just got the part myself. Easy do it yourself fix
I have a 2015 Chev Malibu with 177000 km and it shows code 0089 and code 0016. Code 0089 says it's the fuel pressure regulator and the 0016 says it's the bank 1 camshaft position sensor. I called the dealership for the price of the FPR and they tell me they don't have one on the computer. A dummy like me believes him because I don't find any videos of anyone working on the 2015 which seems to be different than the others in the engine. Any information would be a appreciated as I have no clue where to find, even the line to fuel pressure test. Thanks

My 2012 ltz got the service traction, service airbags, the lights on the radio and ac did not come on, it started running very weak like someone learning to drive stick, and than it just gave out. Before any of this i was driving on the freeway and i needed gas, but i noticed the AC was not blowing cold air anymore. I put gas. And than my car wouldnt start. Had help getting it jumped and i noticed the traction and airbag lights on, kept driving and the rest as i mentioned in the beginning of my comment. Anybody know what it could be? I hope its just a sensor or fuse…
@@joshuaortega8723 alternator. It was failing so it drained my battery down to 0%. Thats why it stopped on the freeway, that jump i got wasnt enough. Go get your alternator and battery tested before your battery drains.

Yes, I have a 2017 Malibu. Mine came up yesterday, but was running fine for the rest of the day after restarting the vehicle. Then today, on my way to work going 60MPH the warning pops up again and I couldn’t go over 20mph. Now I’m stuck in a parking lot waiting for a tow truck. Get it to a dealer ASAP.
I brought it in to avoid it happening again. They couldn't find any issue then it was fine for like a month of alot of driving. Last night happened again. I parked turned it off waited like 10 min turned on drove home no problem. Gonna replace the fuses

I have a 2012 with the same problem but it only happens when I use the ac or heater. My fusebox gets really hot but once I turn the car off and let the fusebox cool off it drives normal. Does anyone know what could cause this?

this sounds like your alternator is not putting out enough electricity clean your negative terminals all 3 that connect to the body the other issue Malibu has is corrosion in the plugs get some electrical cleaner make sure it's plastic safe and spray away look it up other mechanics have solved that issue and shown it on CZcams

There are class action lawsuits on this exact issue!! And ur telling me nobody figured out it's just the fuse? Bc Apperently on some cars GM changed a certain sensor , but didn't fix the problem!! I have a 2016 with same problem , battery was old changed it , cleaned throttle, but didn't check any fuses .. I have to try this ! I have a 2013 and never had this issue ... Either way thanks ..
on the 2016 there was a software issue that screwed up the variable cam timing....in worst cases it put a valve through the piston causing you to need a top half rebuild...they extended the warranty for this issue...car will sometime go into low power, others it would just run like shit....get this checked before it too late

There is also a technical service bulletin (TSB) that addresses the Engine Power Reduced issue on 2018 Chevy Malibus. However, the specifics are not the same as those encountered by the drivers involved in the lawsuit against GM. (Which was for faulty accelerator pedal position sensor) Probably this is what you're referring to? "Instead of a faulty accelerator pedal position sensor, TSB 19- NA-032 concludes that the problem is being caused by a software anomaly." Thanks man

So not sure what to do .. might just get rid of it .. but it is a very nice one.. more like a "limited" edition.. it's loaded with all the safety technologies , great rims , bigger size tires etc etc.. so like I got a lt2 plus for the price of LT or LS with the turbo engine and all kinds of extras !! First thing you have to do is put the scanner on and see what code it have so you can start from that point

@@robinhaywood9978 Mine turned out to be a TSB sensor which u have to go to the dealer for. The sensor got wet been alot of rain here.

You need check, your wires probably have something touch on the frame of the car, some part of the metal

@@robinhaywood9978 Did unplugging your battery for 10mins work. My 2013 started this shit yesterday on my lunch break and again on my way home from work. In both cases I stopped and turned the car off for about 10 to 20 mins then I started driving and everything was fine. I changed my fuse this morning and it did this again.....soo, what to do now🤷

I have a 2012 with the same problem but it only happens when I use the ac or heater. My fusebox gets really hot but once I turn the car off and let the fusebox cool off it drives normal. Does anyone know what could cause this?

It could also be a short, I’m dealing with my daughters car.. shyt is a pain in the azz!!
@@ricmtb7102 unfortunately I couldn’t but I changed fuse box then it was fine for few days, after that i got another problem if engine is hot and shoot down it then keep it for few minutes to start again the car shows engine power reduced 😂😂😂

this sounds like your alternator is not putting out enough electricity clean your negative terminals all 3 that connect to the body the other issue Malibu has is corrosion in the plugs get some electrical cleaner make sure it's plastic safe and spray away look it up other mechanics have solved that issue and shown it on CZcams
i have a 2009 chavy malibu it run but it lose power after i go about 30 min driver and i have to park the car and wait for a hour to start agin and it run ok till it happen agrin and po325 it a knook sencan cir: bank 1 also p1682 which is ianition 1 switch cir: 2 and sybol show up and said power reduessd can about tell me what cause that thank you (sorry about the spell)

Bc Apperently on some cars GM changed a certain sensor , but didn't fix the problem!!
I have a 2016 with same problem , battery was old changed it , cleaned throttle, but didn't check any fuses .. I have to try this ! I have a 2013 and never had this issue ...

on the 2016 there was a software issue that screwed up the variable cam timing....in worst cases it put a valve through the piston causing you to need a top half rebuild...they extended the warranty for this issue...car will sometime go into low power, others it would just run like shit....get this checked before it too late

There is also a technical service bulletin (TSB) that addresses the Engine Power Reduced issue on 2018 Chevy Malibus. However, the specifics are not the same as those encountered by the drivers involved in the lawsuit against GM. (Which was for faulty accelerator pedal position sensor)
Probably this is what you're referring to?

I have two of them , older model no problem, but this damn 2016 has had this issue few times I just haven't had the time to take it to the dealer , but the problem is, what they fix doesn't fix the problem, and that's the reason for the class action lawsuits!!
So not sure what to do .. might just get rid of it .. but it is a very nice one.. more like a "limited" edition.. it's loaded with all the safety technologies , great rims , bigger size tires etc etc.. so like I got a lt2 plus for the price of LT or LS with the turbo engine and all kinds of extras !! Got about 36k miles..
So I hate to let her go but have to decide one way or another!!

Think it was number 11 and 37 on the 17.
they checked my fuses said they were fine.
The reduced power comes on for quite a few different reasons
@@vfpfootball 11 in his video is an emission fuse. 11 in a 17 is a battery fuse. I don’t see an emission fuse on the diagram
