The Mystery Stick by TCC Magic & Jimmy Fan - Magic Review: Another New and Improved Oldie!
This close-up version features a brass stick measuring 13.5 cm in length, with four beads attached to each end. One of the beads hangs from a long cord, while the other hangs on a short cord. When you pull a bead on one side, this one goes up, but when you pull this one, that one goes up. By repeating this process in various combinations, it creates the illusion that all the beads are connected. However, when you split the stick in half, you'll discover there's no connection in the center.
Not something I will necessarily do in a walkaround set, but a cute puzzle to play around with.

I guess the beads do offer a different presentation vs pompoms.
