How to Make Soft Paratha Roti using a Stand Mixer | Trini Buss up Shot Roti

- As promised, here is the full tutorial on how to knead the flour for paratha in your electric mixer!
Paratha, also know as “buss up shot” is one of the various types of roti ubiquitous in Trinidad. It is called buss up shot because of its texture, appearance and similarity to a torn (burst) t-shirt. Leave it up to a Trini to come up with a name like that.
It is usually the roti of choice served with various vegetables or meat dishes at weddings, religious gatherings(poojas/prayers) and other special occasions. While growing up in Trinidad, it was customary for neighbors to gather before dawn on these occasions to knead hundreds of pounds of flour to make the parathas. Nowadays, it is becoming more customary to “place an order” for the sake of time and convenience instead of continuing this tradition. Let me show you everything you need to know to make soft, flaky and delicious parathas at home!

Can the dough be made in a bread machine? This looks so delicious and I could smell the Ghee in that roti. It’s almost 12:30 am and my mouth is watering.
Thank you. You can try!
RIA need to move down to Texas and open a roti shop in San Antonio
This looks perfect ...... team dark over here 🙂
Yes! Thanks.
I will definitely try this recipe, my Mother's makes roti all the time so I should be a expert 😉 but not. Lol
Hello what’s the name of the sticks and the flat pan?
The flat pan is a Tawa
The “sticks” are Dabla(s)
Can u double or triple recipe
I do it all the time and freeze half for the following weekend or send a few wrapped dough to my mom to cook when she wants to treat herself.
Team lite😊
Idont have a mixture
Lauren
Team dark. Still trying to get mine soft.
Follow the steps above!
Something I have to practice making and stop buying these around here that are not giving.
Making it at home is so easy and tastes much better(in my opinion). The best part is that you can control the quantity and type of ingredients you use to make it healthier.
It's supposed to puff up like a ball darling
Please dip it in the Curry
Dark.
Hi Ria that roti looks very soft and delicious but unfortunately my sister I don’t cook roti because the doctor stopped my husband from rice flour potatoes and almost everything made from flour and my daughter got very sick last Monday and we rushed her to a private hospital nothing wrong with her but they also told her no flour or rice so I don’t cook for them to want I just want to know how’s your daughter going and to you and your family love you all stay safe bye.
Hi Sandra. Wish your family good health. I would suggest no processed foods or ingredients-nothing with chemicals and preservatives. Start reading labels. If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of salt & oil do you use? My daughter is doing great at College, just lots and lots of work. Thanks for asking and take care. Sending love and blessings to you all. 💕🌷
@@CookingWithRia Hi Ria I use pink himalaya salt and I use coconut oil my husband is a heart patient but nothing wrong with my daughter they are both vegetarian have a blessed day bye.
Ps . I need scalloped potatoes
Check out the recipe on my blog! It’s excellent!
