@@BrandonKBoswell No problem, thank you for your work on this. I used the Glasp plugin to generate the timestamps FYI.
The timestamps seem to be quite off.

@@nicksmeta ah sorry. I didn't verify.
Finally the Boox I want! My quest is over! Lightweight, fast and thin like Remarkable but with Android and 300ppi. Easy choice now 😊 I just ordered it. Thanks for the video
Agreed, was waiting for the A5X2 but I think I'll be going for this instead.
Yes, me too!😊
Please, video of 2hours, where are the chapters ?
Got mine today. So far I love it, including the case. I wasted so much time worrying about the frontlighting consideration -- I find the screen beautiful without it -- and I'm being kind to my eyes and I have no battery anxiety!
I can confirm that the keyboard capital letter bug has been fixed in the 2024-06-21_06-12_3.5.3 update.
The real question is do I choose a Boox Go or a Boox Note Air 3C?
Thanks Brandon for the content, I was waiting for your video..looking forward for a full review and the retirement of the remarkable😅😂
Many thanks for the 'Frankenpen' suggestion! Did same. Wonderful pen/pen tip combo. Feels good on old RM2, Go 10.3 AND A6X2. Cheers!
OMG this is the best Boox ever! I want it now!
Your videos are always very interesting, thank you 🙂. I saw that in Boox Go 10.3 there is the option "Automatically recognize handwriting in the background" with OCR, similar to Supernote. Is searching for words in your notebook fast or slow?
How does it feel to read books on this via the kindle app? Is there significant lag or any constraint/ limitation that makes it pale in comparison to other kindles? I returned the Kindle Scribe because it was just too heavy and unwieldy- this seems like a great alternative of the reading experience is just as good and it is light - easy to hold and read for long. Please let me know. Thanks!
The black looks very black. That super looking contrast is very appealing.
Is that a split stenograph? Also this device seems pretty nice. Seems to have a lot of things I'd want on my scribe.
When is your review coming for this device? Been waiting for the "long-term" review before I decide between this or continue holding out for A5X2.
Do you think this would work well as a sheet music reader? (Assuming one is not playing in a darkened theatre)
How did you get your dr grip to fit? I have the digital version and tried to swap it into a regular all black version and the parts are different sizes etc. Thoughts?
As far as the shift key problem. Was watching someone else talking about the Supernote and typing (i think it's in beta) and apparently shift key wasn't working on Supernote either. Said you could use the CAP key to get by that but i think they said Supernote has fixed that now. Maybe CAPS key will work on this for the time being?
@BrandonKBoswell, in lieu of a missing gesture for undo, maybe the "scribble through to delete" gesture is somewhat better than having to pick at an icon.
Mine arrived today !
I found dark mode but only on the reader, so far, not system wide. In neoreader tap the middle of the screen to bring up the options for page setup, font style and spacing etc. One of the options there is to set the page to black
Having just obtained a used supernote A5x (not wanting to wait for an A5X2), I'm having trouble justifying a larger device. (Even if it's thinner). As it stands, it's a little awkward to take the A5x out of the house on errands. I can definitely take it with me in a brief case or backpack, but if I'm carrying it around in my hand to say the grocery store (with a shopping list, for instance), it feels like too much.
For taking notes in meetings, the a5x feels about right. A smaller device would have too little real estate for writing, but a larger device would take up too much space on my desk.
Perhaps an A6x size device might double as a travelers notebook. But I'm picturing a cover with lots of pockets to stuff things into (tickets, receipts, etc) . My challenge is that I carry a cellphone with me that's too large to fit in my pocket. So carrying anything else in my hand is just "extra."
how does the pen + screen feel compared to the grittiness of the remarkable 2?
Can you comment on the drawing feel + functionality between the Boox Go 10.3 and the SuperNote A6X in your next videos? Thank you!!
I wanna know if you don't mind. the screen is different between the boox note air 3 and Boox Go 10.3. I mean not the color, as far as I know the boox note air 3 has the pre-installed screen protector that make to get paper like feeling in note taking and can remove with hand easily. This is the one thing I don't like. I think it is no premium setup. so, in boox go 10.3, it has a screen protector or non-removable paper-like screen. Also I wanna know also, in low light conditions, the Boox goes 10.3's brightness, what happens with the screen brightness when you use it in low light situations?
When I received my Go 10.3 I yestereday afternoon, I updated the system. But then there was a further update arriving on the scene last evening -- which mentioned some "keyboard fixes". So yes, I can now type on a text document (with Shift characters too) using a USB-C keyboard OR Bluetooth Keyboard. (It took quite a while to find my BT keyboard, but this is par for the course with many tablets and computers, subsequent connection will not be slow, I suspect).
REVISED: the Kindle app now seems to be working ok -- best to choose the NORMAL speed option and Kindle's Page Turning Animation is optional. Voja advised me on this. I'm not sure if things changed with the last system update or if I had failed to try NORMAL speed (thinking I needed to make things faster).
Yeah! we can type or write in an outside cafe while sipping a Cappucino!
Regarding 45:52 and how to move pages within a notebook, you can indeed still do it. The new style of page-thumbnails view displayed when tapping the page-number at the right side of the top toolbar is a new additional view, not a replacement for the old full-screen pages manager. First, tap the page-number to display the new slide-over pages view. Then, tap the “maximise”/arrows button at the top right of that slide-over pages view. This will show a redesigned version of the full-screen pages manager, where you can select, copy, move, and delete pages as before.
Thanks for your contents! Could you test external keyboard connection using bluetooth and typing by google keyboard? Thanks!!
Is there a chance that they will release a black cover anytime soon?
Is there a screen protector pre installed on this?
I will wait on the A5x2 if ratta can give us thinner with modular design like the nomad only a remarkable 3 might compete
@BrandonKBoswell could you install a custom android launcher on one of your boox devices and show us are you able to modify default UI or not?
I did this on the Note Air 2 Plus. Check out my video on increasing the focus of Boox devices
@@BrandonKBoswell thanks. could you please share the link? I checked 2 your videos about note air 2 plus (1 is a review and 2 is app for screen sharing) and there was nothing about a custom launcher and UI customization
How long will the battery last on this device?
how is your kaveco pen with it?
Is it worth for reading? Like a better kindle scribe? Not writing focused?
As long as you don’t need a frontlight
I wish they would release one with Boox Super Refresh technology, and 12" size.
How does it compare to the supernote?
Got mine. Love the device, hate the case. Like you, I’m a southpaw. With the Scribe and NA3C, I was able to invert my devices to put the wide bezel on the right. That’s great for lefties: no false triggers when hand-held in portrait. Not so with the Go 10.3- the magnet placement is asymmetrical, and the case won’t stick! Add in the fact that the pen loop keeps dropping the stylus, and I’m left searching Etsy for something better!
How different do the Go and Note Air 3c screens feel to write on?
They feel very similar
24:00 I'd try the calabration from a natural viewing angle, since you aren't going to be hovering over the top of it like that in normal use, just to see how much difference it makes in the natural use day in day out
PS from a bi focal wearer
Are you live streaming this somewhere else, I hear you interacting with questions from somewhere?
Yes, this was livestreamed here on CZcams.
@@BrandonKBoswell Dang it, it didn't show up as a live stream on my end
Is the writing feel similar to the Remarkable? Also is the pen tip size smaller/thinner?
Same thats all I care about
I was hoping that your keyboard woes were just a USB C thing. Kit tested a BT keyboard, and it seemed to be less laggy. But it had the shift key problem too. Hoping they release a firmware fix real soon!
Pleased to see that they released a keyboard fix within a week of the release announcement! The firmware update auto-loaded during registration.
Please make a short video about how you "Frankensteined" that pen!🖊️ I subscribed in hopes to see that, lol.
Will do!
Where are you located? I'm wondering about the time from order to delivery. Thanks!
I’m on the East Coast USA
I am one relieved lefty! Was waiting for the Supernote A5X 2, but saw previews of the Go 10.3 and placed a pre-order on impulse. Handwriting & freemark look great, UI seems simpler... I've been on quite the journey w/tablets. Hate Apple pen. Loved my Paperwhite, grabbed a Scribe but returned it- too limited. Rejected reMarkable for the same reason. Bought and returned the NA3C - didn't like the colour or the clunky UI (as of late 2023). Bought another Scribe while waiting. Recently bought the Kobo Libra Colour - great 7" colour reader, OK for scribbles & annotation, but not a paper substitute.
Same here! Love this and ordered it. I also returned the NA3C and was waiting for the Supernote. But looks like this wil finally fit my needs
You are not alone in your rambling journey through tablets. I also tried (and quite like) the Microsoft surface pro.
I really wanted a supernote but I suspect they will be expensive.
I returned my Remarkable and Note Air 3C just like you. I still have my Scribe but am using my Note Air 3 most at the moment.
I’ve ordered a Go 10.3 and a very excited about it.
I do need therapy though.
I’m addicted to tablets, just not the kind you swallow.
Same here was waiting for the A5X2 and ordered the go 10.3 as i seen it 🙃
hey what pen do you use? looks great
same question here! wondering where you got the pen Brandon!
40:43
Are there any pens for this device that don‘t need replacement tips?
Not unless you want the tip of the pen to scratch the screen. It has to be softer than the screen material.
Everyone talks smack about Remarkable 2 because its "lack of features" just doesn't get why we are willing to pay the $$ in the first place. I already have those gadgets that drain battery for movies and games etc. I just need a device for note taking and writing books. It does it very well and the build quality is amazing. I wish it was half the price but it still worth its weight in gold to me.
It's a small shame that you had to gut the Dr. Grip, though lol the Pilot Dr. Grip and Kaweco pens are fantastic pens.
Nothing was lost or broken in the swap, I now have one Dr Grip for paper and another for e-Ink
No way to beat reMarkable.
Can you try putting supernote's Feel-write 2 A5X film on boox go 10.3 ? It would be best of both the worlds, using ceramic nib , SUPERNOTE writing experience on Boox go 10.3 !!!! Please do it , entertainment plus exploration!!
Great I want A4 size
39:25 You can scratch out a word to delete it
The AI scribble is so good. Thanks for sharing
Can we open a pdf file and make writing notes on it?
Yes
Sorry Brandon. I appreciate your effort to demonstrate and compare the Boox to the Remarkable, but it turned, in my opinion, it turned a little bit cahotic.
I would recomend a short et video, knowing the Boox, and then compare both to see the differencies. Short and clear. Less is more.
No worries Henrique. A proper review will be coming in a few weeks once I’ve had significant time with the device.
Noice
Just got it today. The thing that bugs me is that writing is laggy. The pen line doesn't keep up and it throws me off. Disappointed.
"sturdy like the supernote"
the supernote is not "sturdy", it feels plasticky and creaks all the time when being handled... the lenovo smart paper is "sturdy" with it's metal casing
personally I don’t want all the android stuff, just a focused experience, latency of these still looks pretty frustrating
Very disappointing on the keyboard function
This review is as long as a movie. Your views would be higher with timestamps.
This video stressed me out lol
Why’s that?
Ah it's a Chinese company, big no for me
They're still way too expensive for what you use them for. I don't care about how thin it is, I want capacity, flexibility, reliability, security, performance, longevity, and a cheaper price tag; if that means it will be an inch thick, so be it. No need for WiFi, no need for Bluetooth; they're both security hazards that requires more code. Don't want Android or any fork of Android, just make a Linux OS from scratch with no bloat. Don't want distractions and complexity, that's why ePaper exist to begin with, just add a USB-C slot, a normal USB slot, and perhaps an extra memory slot; the rest we can do ourselves by dragging and dropping files.
Starting to get sick on waiting for an useful device without the fancy bloat. I want something that can be used in everyday life and not having to rely on proprietary bloat that locks you down and subscription services that wants your money.
Unfortunately, that still feels far off. Daylight Computer feels closer to what you're looking for, but it still runs on Android.
Onyx started out on Linux and they didnt sell.
@@user-dr2cw3hh1t That sounded like a very poor attempt at dismissing everything I said, i.e., a Strawman.
@@BrandonKBoswell Interesting commercial, but looks like a cash grab. Nothing really unique, just a re-branded Android LCD tablet with a Apple price tag.
Honestly I wouldn't mind a dual os ePaper. One that prioritizes none distractions, minimal, and the removal of features. Additionally improve battery life. Then the other OS is regular Android.
Some emulator handheld have this feature where it has its own OS and Android OS.
