    The problem I have with JK's comments about the Boks "not being expansive" is this...the ABs have been found wanting trying to run the ball from inside their 22. Teams have been able to shut them down (eg Ireland in NZ) and the ABs lost the series because they either didn't have a plan B, or they were just so arrogant to think they could run circles around every side they play. So the criticism levelled at the Boks for not "playing more, earlier" smacks of the pot calling the kettle black. The Boks play to their strengths and when they click, they smash teams - just like they did against the ABs at Twickers. In addition, the Boks have added layers to their game. May the criticism continue, because if the Boks fire on all cylinders, you will s**t your pants.

    "No my hockey my"? Is that Maori?
    Regarding the Bok v France match, the old dude with the VR goggles obviously has an issue with the Boks. The Boks are no longer a one-trick pony and haven't been for a while. They have a dominant, tough-as-nails pack but they also have x-factor outside backs. Yes, the do focus on out-muscling the opposition - rugby is a physical sport after all and the Boks pack a lot of beef. But they also have creative outside backs who can run you ragged and a good kicking game.
    Anyway, one thing is for sure - we're in for a great weekend of rugby!

    JK and JW surely see the writing against the wall, missing RSA teams and the quality of the Super rugby competition must be frustrating them. Should the Exodus start from this current NZL players too play in beter competition abroad Aus and NZL will feel it most when competing in the annual championship in Southern Hemisphere.
    Hope Mills, the lady and other objective pundits will run the broadcasting show, as the two of them will be disgusted by the future results of those games.

    I don't know what to expect. Marx is a big loss for the way the Springboks play. It definitely affects the use of the "bomb squad."
    I do feel the Springboks held their cards close to their chests. It was especially noticeable against Ireland, where they used very strange tactics compared to the Twickenham test.
    During the Twickenham test the Springboks used variations from the maul and during this World Cup, they haven't shown any of those variations. I think we might see some interesting new plays come the quarterfinals. If they do build a lead they won't show to much and keep some back for the semi's and finals should they make it.
    If any of the two teams is predictable in what they are going to do it is France. Jk's assessment that the Springboks are predictable is strange. If it's true why are they so successful at world cups? If everybody know what they are going to do, preparing for them must be easy.

    • @matthieu5697
      @matthieu5697 Před 7 měsíci

      I agree that it is hard to predict how SA is going to play but I don't see why France would be more predictable... they have basically made a point of not showing anything on set piece for the past 10 months.

    • @wlk2408
      @wlk2408 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @matthieu5697 France is the team that kicks the most by far. Their set piece haven't changed much. They have shown very little variation. It is possible that they are hiding things, but I think it is unlikely.
      The Springboks have used different combinations on their bench, 5/3, 6/2, 7/1 split. They have used 52 players in their last 23 test matches, and they have made 274 chances to their match day squad. They have only played the same starting xv in two consecutive games once. To predict what they are going to do is extremely difficult. France has been much more consistent in terms of team selection and game plan. The question is whether being consistent in your selection and game plan is going to be better than being unpredictable.
      Heineken Meyer coached the Bulls in 2007. He won the Super Rugby title, and he had a policy of not changing his team or game plan. His attitude was that if his team could execute their game plan, they would win. He won the Super Rugby Championship, but he lost the Currie Cup to the Cheetahs, who was coached by Rassie.
      Rassie used the lights and played around with team selection and game plans, just like he is doing now. It worked for him then, but only time will tell if it will work again.
      One thing is for sure, it is going to be an awesome game. Ireland vs. New Zealand is going to be just as interesting, if not more so.

    Just my 5 cents..........Jeff is always so sad when he talk about the Boks........Appreciate Mills as he at least give honest credit when do......Jeff is just sad af. As an South African we will always back the AB. I love the AB so I support them as an Southern Hemisphere team. Just need to show that the Boks can do it. It does not matter how much we kick as a South African team......the BIG boys will show up. Have the French forward been tested so far....well no. So the outcome I want the Boks to win, AB to win. But at the end its important that rugby wins. Good luck all.

    People forget that the Boks are the reigning champs and with the ABs have won three RWC titles. They know what it takes to win RWC and they take that into this game. France however, have yet to win and have all the support/pressure of a home tournament. The game will be close and it maybe discipline i.e., red/yellow cards, that determines the final result. The Boks by 5. If Fiji can get their best players on the field after a Covid scare (a big part of the loss to Portugal), they are a big chance against England.

    @JK This idea that the ABs style of play should be the only style of play in rugby is just getting tiring and boring now. If everyone plays the same style of rugby believe me it will get boring very quickly. Just look at other sports it's all well and good to play attractively but over time teams just wise up to the style take football for example Barcelona played the equivalent of attractive football for a while, now they are a shadow of theirselves. Let every team chose to play however they want if it's not illegal annd lets watch and see which clash of style is the most successful. We've all watched the ABs play the same style of rugby and it took them decades before they eventually won their second and third RWC's. So please enough with the lecturing, enjoy your teams style and let the rest of us enjoy what we want to see.
