Thank you Sean, 🤙. This was probably the best interview I have had.
Thanks for talking to us. I appreciate you spent the time. I have brain injury so I can’t talk for even 5 minutes straight. But I speak one sentence at a time, listen back, then redo it or click save. It would amaze people if I told them my one minute video takes hours. 😂
However , no regrets on spending time to learn and try. And I’ve made a few friends along the way.
Cool! I think the takeaway is, start a channel and make videos within the niche you are already passionate about, vs starting a channel and then trying to “figure out” your niche. Great video!
Yessss!!!
Just checked! No editing, No background, No lighting, No thumbnail design 🎉🎉 Simply Best 🎉
Exactly
Really
There’s really no excuse besides self limiting beliefs holding you back from starting! I’ve worked thru them myself
I hear you!
I’m all about no editing
I’m beginning to do less editing and show up with more authenticity. It’s a bit uncomfortable, but much less exhausting. I have yet to see the impact, it I’m interested to see if there’s a difference in views and growth. 🤔
I’m starting to do single shot … it’s not easy but so much faster.
Yesss
I need to do that!!!
@@CookingwithGrace-bh7mt watch some of my lives - its very hard to resist the urge to edit or redo stuff.
I've been watching and learning from Simon for the last 6 months or so. His channel is raw-he doesn't shy away from his past or difficult topics. He shoots most of his livestreams on his lunch break, from his phone, in his car. He is undeniable proof that where there's a will there's a way. Rock on, UE!
🤙 thank you
And he does the work - it goes into the preparation, however.
I am all about conversational style videos with natural speaking speeds and an “um” here and there. And, have resisted every unsolicited suggestion to tighten my editing. I really dislike the fast-paced, choppy editing style that’s been popular in recent years. And, I feel vindicated watching this! 😊 Thanks, Simon!
Agreed. I dislike that so much. Hard to absorb.
Agreed. I watched a very talented young lady, who edited the snot out of her video, and it was polished and slick, but so FAST paced and so much text and 'visual aids' it was overwhelming. Her message was great, her information and education was on point, but the editing style just didn't vibe with me at all.
I know Simon for lumber prices during the pandemic. I’m a building contractor and I really enjoyed Simon during the pandemic.
I think his channel also works with his style, brand, and personality. He is extremely authentic and that is what people want. If he did the exact same videos in his car discussing fine art, I’m not sure it would work. But he is blue collar, honest, and sharing his truth. It is perfect for his niche. I am glad he is doing so well. And based on his habits it shows you need no formal education. He has put in 15 years of personal research. That means he can comment on any subject related to the economy. Love it!
So I’m a financial advisor and I have mad respect for Simon. Not jumping on the fear mongering and actually focusing on educating people is the right thing to do. I cannot tell you how many conversations I have had to put out fear fires. Mad respect 👍🏻🙏🏼
Awesome spotlight Sean. I hope to be a guest to share my story as well.
Reminds me of another CZcamsr Miles Beckler - no edit, no production value. he’s just been making a ton of videos and explains things really well and provides a lot of value.
A great example of consistency paying off on CZcams! Thanks for the interview! 🙏
Grateful for Simon!
My early videos have no editing and are often doing well. I have concluded that editing is overrated and content is all that matters.
I think this is the best video from this channel. Find someone like us to talk about the success!
I agree. The new and smaller creators are worth hearing from. 💕
@@beautifullifesageg.3951Somenof the big name creators are too far from us. And they all have a team to make things happen. We are everything to our channel(creator, editor, photographer 😂)
Huge fan of Uneducated Economist! Been watching him for YEARS!! So Psyched he’s sharing here!!!🎉❤💥👀
I'm only 11 minutes in and I'm already so inspired by this guy. Such great stories of how to get started!
He is awesome
I love that he started with a passion and a willingness to research, but not necessarily the credentials. It sure helps to know that I'm not the only one figuring it out as I go.
Not gonna lie, the editing has been the main factor that's been keeping me from going forward and just go out there on CZcams.
Thank you for bringing the confidence in me back that this can be done with no editing involved!
Go for it👍🏼
his channel is great it. it works because that guy is real no edits rough edges and all.
Good stuff! A lot of us prefer to watch videos without editing (or minimal editing). I just want to watch / listen to someone who knows what they’re talking about. Text graphics are fine but I HATE over-edited videos!
Some creators spend more time editing and creating graphics than researching topics to have anything worthwhile to say!
100 pct agree!
I'm with you on that. I prefer listening to something real and even though the advice is to do something every 10-20 seconds editing wise (either text on screen, broll or other 'visual aids'), it can get so distracting and overwhelming. If your audience requires that, maybe get a different audience. I'm trying to shift on my channel to less is more and if you don't like it, there's the door....
I really enjoyed this podcast . And certainly having Simon as your guest was most informing !
Love this interview. I like the grounded real-life relatability. Great advice to boot!
I did the same...
"Just press record."
No editing
Consistent posting
I'm doing 260 practice episodes.
5 videos a week for a year.
Possibly one of your best interviews even though I think the "without editing" title is not the whole reason BUT a good hook! 😁 Gotta say his reason for starting CZcams is priceless (shout-out to Brittney!). Also love the side-convo about working a 9-5 vs being an entrepreneur. Totally agree with you on this and encourage you to do another episode or two devoted to that topic. Good stuff bro!
True
This gentleman is one of the BEST source of motivation out there for anyone like me trying to jump on CZcams with your own channel
Thank you Sir and thank you Think Media
His honesty made me get new insight about my channel I appreciate you all for this
LOVE IT!!! No editing for the Win!!
Great Advice! Thanks for sharing all this info with us.
Yesssss! Another episode that directly relates to my inner thoughts.
I’ve been debating if I just need to stay the course or start spending more for a graphic designer, my first studio, etc. I love just sitting down recording and doing minimal edits. I’ll prolly get back to my core of what feels good and applying the 80/20 rule!
Great interview and perspective! Thank you!
Loved this interview. I have just subscribed to Simon’s channel. Authentic guy. Great job
My take away. Reach out to people for collaborations through their email on their channel. Sounds so obvious, I never thought of it. Thank you guys.
Love it
What an inspiration!
This is great! Only a few minutes in and really good!
He is busting so many myths, I love it! Some CZcams tips and tricks need to be burnt!! Yes be a nerd about something and make mistakes on camera. Yes to just starting with a rickety old cellphone. Yes to ASMR chores channels...anything is possible and can work. I am so done with the crazy fast paced and super polished videos. Broll every 20-40 seconds or text popping up every 10 seconds is just not doing it for me at all (maybe I'm just getting old, lol!!).
Open. Uncut. Unedited. Straight talk. This is great.
One of the best interviews I've seen this year - thanks Simon and Sean! ✨
His chasing money analogy with the dog needs to be a short.
Your motivational chat was straight fire bro! Love how you kept it real with that CZcams grind advice. Ngl, I was feeling a little uninspired with my channel recently, but your hype words just reignited that passion! The way you broke it down about constantly fueling that motivation flame and not letting it die out...FACTS! Imma stay remembering why I started this journey in the first place. Also, your delivery was on point! I could literally hear your motivational voice in my head while reading it.
Welp...since there are still only 5 comments on this video;
I will ask my second question.
My 1st one was about the Silver Play Button ▶️
The 2nd question is, I have not been able to get monetized.
I have asked CZcams for any Possible SPECIFIC issues I need to correct to become Monetized.
They have given me the generic bullet points that look like they copy and pasted off the YT rule/guidelines.
How can I find out What The Problem(s) are???
This guy is so inspiring. Wow! Completely turned his life around. But again, nothing happens overnight... it was a long way before reaching that sought-after success. Thank you for sharing this and for putting into perspective how much it actually takes to get there 🙏✨
This interview has changed my way of thinking as a creator. Thank you.
Such a splendid conversation 🤗
Very good points and I love the ethics of not being a fear monger that's so ugly. Thank you for your authenticity ❤ both of you 🎉
I remember watching this guy when lumber was going crazy! I watched the entire vid. This is a testament to hard work pays off!
It takes a special talent to make videos that you don’t have to edit. If I could figure that out, my channel would be huge. I currently have 7 videos recorded that still need to be edited.
But I think editing doesn't really matter that much anyway on a video of average length that is about a subject that is important to viewers at the moment.
Sure, if the videos are 10 minutes or longer, and you have a too many "umms", bloopers, and the first 5 minutes you just amble-on about nothing, etc., then you NEED to edit those out because they just add extra unproductive time to your video and will slow it down.
Depending upon whether you record your video with an organized plan or not can make a difference on how watchable it is also.
Some channel creators just do not have a clue about planning their video, and they just yap aimlessly and the video is painfully longer than it needs to be because they are so unfocused in their delivery.
They ramble on a bit before they ever get to the subject of the video, and then interject side info about unrelated things that ends up being a distraction and makes the video unnecessarily longer than it needs to be.
Top interview, love the uneducated economist channel.
I like no edit, or minimal edit videos. All the jazz throws me off. All the editing feels so obligatory and tasteless most times.
Great video. I’m amazed at the number of people who post videos saying they don’t want or shouldn’t have to work. And I say you don't, as long as you know how to hunt, fish, and homestead. You know, do the things most young people walked away from back in the day to go into the big city for a job because it was easier
True
Wow, so great. I'm also the eternal pontificator, my mind is like an encyclopedia, so much to share that can really help people in ways literally no one, I'd wager, can because of my background and experience. The problem is I suck on video. Buuut, I got it. Just keep making vids until I don't. Peace brothers, thanks so much.
Love it. Very encouraging to know you don't have to be an editing genius.
One thing - his latest video was 2 months ago?
Thank you Sean and Simon for a great interview full of valuable information!
Oh my, I put so much time into editing. Great info.
Interesting phenomenon happening for me...been a sub of UE for years; been watching Zuber/ORAT/DFN for awhile; subbed to Think Media several months ago because I am getting ready to launch a YT channel in conjunction with the launch of a new business. Now all of my favorite channels are converging together at the same time!!
I am listening and watching...and getting ready. 👍
I learn so much from watching your videos. Thank you
This was pure gold! Thank you both!
Listening to this guys voice is ASMR in itself!
This was by far my favorite interview I've watched since joining VRA
wow never thought I would see this collaboration in my life!! I've been watching his channel for over 3 years & makes me happy to see him getting the recognition!
Wow !! Lightbulb moment at the end with Fog analogy
Happy to be throwing perfectionism out the window 💕
Love this guy's approach.
Love it! This is one of the best pods I've listen to. So... many nuggets, fantastic!
Very inspirational. Great interview.
I'm going to just keep posting and getting better. Hopefully the subscribers will come.
Thanks for the motivation.
Great story. Very Interesting. A great example of Persistency
This video is so encouraging. Thank you both!
Thank you for this, as I held back starting my conversations for a long time because I secretly believed that non-editing had to be a valuable thing - but nobody was doing it.
I started anyway and now im coming across this very concept ! - that others are also out there just chatting!. Its my favourite type of youtube vid - a listenable one. And I want to give the same.
Hey my guy the uneducated economist! I love his videos
I found this episode is interesting. ❤👍👍👍
Honestly, very Inspiring for me. I think I overcompensate my editing to try to constantly engage peoples attention span and I think I can be more authentic and true to myself without the need for too much editing and just having more honest conversation and deliver the value that way. I want the process of making videos to be a lot simpler instead of spending hours and hours editing only to cater to “attention”
Thank you Sean and Simon. Great discussion. I know I have great value to add to my audience and I really trying to streamline my workflow right now with StreamYard livestreams and keeping it simple. This was so helpful. Thank you
Great episode guys!
Crazy, I used to call myself the uneducated educator 😂
So many gold nuggets in this video! Thank you!
Love his honesty
Lesson #1 - Within the first 40 sec of your video create an "If/Then" scenario: "So if you want to...XYZ (appeal to viewers desire), you're gonna want to listen until the end of this video (aka: make the viewer watch your entire video because view duration boosts your channel/ad revenue/etc)." Got it. 😅
That phrase usually makes me skip to the last few minutes actually.
Exactly , I used to work hard to learn how to do editing but it hold me back from making content because it took a me so long to upload each video . And it realize it doesnt work for me as a mom of 2 under 5 plus I have a small business on the side . So this year I just start to make content without so much editing and I feel so good that at least I get started . Otherwise now June 2024 , I probably don’t even upload one video yet . I am still learning to do editing because I want to improve the quality of my content but for now I just want to start get over my fear of being in front of the camera and find what type of content I really enjoy doing .
On the authenticity, its so good to hear this as this is what I feel I need to do but so many CZcamsrs say don’t talk about what comes naturally but make sure you pick a niche people are looking for. - but then thats not me and I couldn’t do it long term and I wouldn’t stick with it. Thanks to both of you!
Yup, I recently said in one of my videos that even though an old video seems to be gaining traction and the expert opinion is to 'double down' on that type of video, I WILL NOT, because I'm no longer into that type of content and I don't want to just do something to please the algorithm or audience, unless I wholeheartedly want to pour my energy into it. Will I miss out on potential faster growth on my channel? Perhaps, but I'd be not true to myself or my own current passions. People change...passions can change/shift and I still have to like myself by the end of the day.
The bolo tie in the book plug tho
Without editing ok... but a very clear way to speak ! It's very hard to build clear sentences to the audience, without think it before. It's a gift. So let's go back to an important thing on youtube. Each youtuber must bet on their personal natural strength. :)
Awesome video, his honesty and transparency makes me rethink about my channel. Think media ❤
Didn't have this Collab on my bingo card for 2024, but happy to see it happen!
Great interview and discussion.
I always feel editing take away the original raw expression and soul of the video …I am a new creator on YT with some 200 plus subscribers and not many views but my subscribers told me they feel connected to me they feel I am one genuine person .
It's about the comfort and trust factor you are more approachable to the viewers! If it's not broke don't fix it, dear one.
I have been doing faceless but want to try showing my face. I hate my face but want to try something new. My channel is true crime and horror story narration. I figured with true crime, showing my face may be better as to connect with my audience.
Congratulations to Simon on a job very well done! 🎉
You could be dimly lit-/ scary. 👍🏼
today’s content is so fast paced, it will go back to nocut editing in few years.
So much value :)
Great Video & Interview!
This guy is awesome
Truth .can't ple a se everyone . Simon is cool.
Hey I know this guy! Been watching him since the pandemic. Grew up in the next town from him.
I do the car studio thing, especially since it's very hard to record at home with a little one and have just bought some new lights and mic that I'm dying to try out. I still like doing some edits but that's the graphic designer video editor in me.
LOVE SIMONS CZcams CHANNEL!
Millions of new creators yet only few get the attention of a review
thank you so much for this video!
Been doing yt for the past year and I've seen my ups and down but what i noticed is that if u just start doing vids with few to no edits its what most ppl care about what you offer instead of useless unneeded edits .
