Best thing I ever did to own a home in JA
Very interesting, I can not wait till I finish up my law degree. We left in 1980, and I never heard of an NHT before
Thank you for this information , I have been searching for this so long!

Very informative
Best thing I have ever done. When I saw this video.
I didn’t have a NIS was unable apply for one whilst living overseas I had to get it sorted when I went on holiday
Viewing from Barbados
This keeps changing. I started in the pandemic, all online. My mom did afterwards, first payment had to be in Jamaica in person. So just check before going forward. Also online uploads take at least 3 trys.
This video was very informative!! Well done 🎉
Live over sea am have being trying for many years all now
Awesome content...can contributions be made for your children IE...in terms of a trust, in regards to Over-Seas Contributions?
❤it
VERY GOOD presentation.
Is this a monthly feature on CZcams?
Am so happy we don't have to be there in person.
I see a problem where if someone make contributions in the overseas voluntary contributions and misses a payment deadline, such a person will NOT be eligible for a loan, even though I would have paid all the required payments. I know that the contributions are there, but they would not have access to a loan, which is the purpose of contributing from overseas
Are you sure? Bc if that’s the case, then it wouldn’t make any sense
I believe once you are contributing for 12 or 24 months ( length of time dependent on if you were previously contributing or not) consecutively without missing a payment then you should meet the eligibility criteria in that regards
Appreciate the information shared here. Has the rate changed from 3%
No
I use to contribute when I use to live there can I use my pass contribution to qualify for a mortgage.
Very informative and long overdue information. I live overseas and have a TRN number but not an NIS number, how do I go about getting a NIS number? Can it be done online or it must be done in Jamaica?
it needs to be done in person in Jamaica or you can have a authorize person to do it on your behalf
Thank you for this information. I do have some questions. 1. How do I get a NIS# 2. How do I get a TRN# 3. I divorced over 20 years ago. My contributions were made while I was married. How does that affect my contributions, now that I have a different last name? Thank you
call the NHT line and ask to speak to a representative. You can also go online
I have a question.. so what if I had joined with a family member to purchase a house with nht points, but years after you feel you need your own home.. can you get another loan in that aspect.
Please update information online as it states an agent need to be appointed to do interview. That part was confusing
Its better mi take the house 😊
I have an account that I didn't pay on from in the 90th. How do i go about that ?
What are the chances after completing the two years You will be eligible for an NHT home.
How do I obtain my NIS number? I used to be a contributor. My former place of employment is no longer in operation. I have no way to obtain this information. I contacted the NHT but I was told to have someone do it on my behalf. I’m trying to get the middle man out myself. NHT I need your help!
Just do it online
I have been to the Spanish town branch and they say they can’t help me
Tax office
does anyone know how i canI obtain and NIS number if im from the states? I have a TRN but they said I couldn’t get a NIS number because I was not born to jamaican parents or parent
dont know if any one can answer this question. what happen if u had an account. but over the years stop paying. can u continue paying.
I asked someone, they said to just start over
How do I get the NIS number from Jamaica?
What if you don’t have a TRN or NIS Number?
Apply for it online
Hi i would love to buy a house in jamaica
Hello, will my UK NIS number be okay to use??
No. It's a Jamaican ID
You’re now required as a voluntary contribute to provide proof of income 😢
WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR MONEY WHEN YOU DIE
And then they get the houses faster than who live in jamaica
That is definitely NOT the reality. Oversea contributers end up paying double or more than the regular nht contributor as they must pay in the currency of the country they are in. Look at the recent nht developments and the criteria of who can apply. It isn't overseas contributors for most of them. Not to mention, their platform is always breaking down.
Not exactly, NHT prioritizes applicants who live or work in the parish of the housing scheme. Here is the link which explains their process www-2.nht.gov.jm/faqs
Thank you for clearing that up! I get that misinformed statement all the time and voluntary contributors do not have access to NHT homes just open market and it’s 6x more usually over $20M which is extremely expensive.
I went to get a estimate of how much I would have to pay and when transposed to JMD, it was way too much. Because the amount you pay is a percentage and not a fixed amount for everyone. SO yeah, it doesn't really benefit overseas contributors. Its almost better to just go with a financial institute with the high rates. @@jbarnes5707
