  • In this video we're comparing three similarly priced, yet very different, violins!
First is a modernly made American violin by master luthier, Jeffrey Muller, made in his Los Angeles workshop in 2007.
Second is a beautiful French antique violin by Collin-Mezin circa 1920.
And third is a modern Italian violin made by luthier Davide Pizzolato under the guidance of master Daniele Tonarelli in his workshop in Cremona, Italy.
Nick plays the same two brief excerpts on each violin so you can hear how they compare.
Which is your favourite? Let us know!

Wow. The Pizzolato is incredible. Such a deep sound.

Hard to say... mics used / speakers heard through...
Nothing beats actually being there to REALLY hear the nuances, but...
That said, the Pizzolato captivated my imagination more than the others - they were also great to hear.

I have to admit, the Jeffry Muller was my fave.

Is the Collin-Mezin made by the son or father?
