@jhony 3tears dear person, thank you for you for being concerned for my soul. I will not be so bold as to say I'm perfect or that I have the strongest bond with the Lord. But I am God fearing, baptized in Jesus name and filled with the holy ghost. Anything I am that is good is because he has placed it or developed in me. I am aware that every breath I breath is because of his mercy. I'm thankful for the blood he shed in Calvary so that one day, I can see his glorious face and lay prostate before him on his throne.

Often times those struggling with addiction speak with such conviction that they appear to believe their own false truths. I am usually very sympathetic to the people on this channel, but this woman spins such wild stories that are definitely not true. She started out by saying she came from a long line of very good looking people and had to glamorize every messed up situation she was ever in. I also caught her mixing up her children being taken away or her deciding to put them up for adoption and which person they were even from. She has lost touch with reality and can't keep the stories straight.

@@rachelbullies2131 In my experience, it’s hard to say what’s causative for whom, unless you take away the drugs and see what you’ve got. That’s why most psychiatrists don’t diagnose people in early recovery. It’s a chicken or the egg thing. Some people with Antisocial or Narcissistic Personality Disorders, FAS, brain injury, and ADHD are more prone to addiction because of impulse control issues and difficulty anticipating consequences. Or (more often?) symptoms of drug addiction can mimic any of those disorders. Some people, psychologically, hide from reality in drugs, like you said. Addiction make it hard to see reality, because of tunnel vision, and feeds denial and justification. If someone is running from reality on drugs, they get trapped in a distorted reality. In any case, getting off the drugs is the obvious answer, but if your brain is hijacked, how do you find it? It’s a catch 22, of the worst kind.

Breaks my heart) But I knew plenty of couples and single parents that lost their children due to their addictions. Its heart wrenching on both sides but has to be incredible damaging to the children and their future. The majority of mothers attempted suicide after and this still drives their use today. I got clean several years back and today I full custody of my son and regular contact with my two daughters. My use was a large part of my marriage breakdown. But being in the grip of addiction, especially Heroin/Opiate with its physical as well as psychological addiction, its incredible difficult to keep your humanity, your principles, your children. Everything. The drug literally rules your life, everything you do being dependant on your access to the drug. So many stupid decisions, so many completely irrational actions and so many risks and mistakes. The only ones that can understand is a fellow addict. But children will often be helpless right in the middle of all this chaos. Some addicts will keep hold of their principles, many just give in to it.

I come from working FC/CPS and I did though see some parents do the hard hard work and get clean/sober. One mom keeps in touch and her transformation is amazing.
Her rights were terminated on her one infant, the Foster Parents told her if she could get clean, she would be welcomed into their family.
She did. She regained custody of her 12 year old, started a daycare with the previous Fosters, and “their daughter” knows whose tummy she came from and who her mommy and daddy are. The mom has rebuilt a life has a husband and child with him. Her story is redemption. I keep telling her she is going to change the FCW.
Too many children end up in a system that many times does more harm than good.
The families need places that provide shelter and 24/7 therapeutic care. These places exist, just not enough impetus for the States to put the tax money into building a new mouse trap.
Overall, using a holistic approach, person/family centered would save money and lives. Breaking a family history/cycle=priceless.

@@hanz090 let's just say that we are no longer on the best of terms. She had an affair (with her friends husband) and dragged the kids through the kind of nightmare you see on a daytime soap opera and think is unrealistic. I understand that I deserved a certain amount of this for my years of addiction that she had to put up with. But she damaged our family and her friends (one of their children is now in care) She didn't spare a thought to the damage this was causing our completely innocent children. So she is certainly not a person to give anyone advice sadly. So are you in a relationship with an addict?
