i would love to see more group rides. I’ll be getting my Milan, Mint Sauce the Legborghini, in a month or so. Eventually I’d like to go ride with the local bike group, so this is very interesting to me. Thanks!
Thanks! How hilly is your area or your group rides? Some of the group rides I go on may be 80 miles with over 7,000 ft of elevation gain, far too hilly for the velomobile. The more flatter ones I'll take the DF XL for fun.
@@Taoweiji You might consider the Cherry Creek Trail, the C470 trail and the Platte trail. I do not see velomobiles there though they are continuous (no traffic crossings) and no cars. Boulder has a lot of trails. The roads on the plains, the San Louis Valley and western slope have a lot of flat areas.
@@jeffrey5961 Thank you for the recommendations. I will check those routes out; I have done a bit of riding on the C470 and Bear Creek Trails on my ICE VTX, but not on the velos yet. Do you have any of those areas on Ride With GPS routes perhaps? I have also done the Rio Grande Trail three times with the VTX; Aspen down to Glenwood Springs and back. I think I'de like to try that route the other way round with the Legborghinis. Barney is here, and Mint Sauce should be arriving the week of the 15th of April. I hope to get them both out on the trails this summer. I might start a YT channel for the Legborghinis too and posting rides around Denver and the foothills area.
@@Taoweiji I am sorry I do not use GPS. I just use Google maps with the biking layer and manually calculate miles. Not sure what the encampments are like this year near the confluence with Cherry Creek; area had been deteriorating. Aspen / Glenwood is beautiful. Glenwood to Vail is nice too; you could skip Vail Pass. Clarification on the Cherry Creek trail recommendation, stay in and south of the Reservoir. Love your description "Legborghinis". Let me know if you post any videos; I'll subscribe.
Ditto! I love my velomobile as well! Your Alleweder is a classic, so cool you have one! I'm not fast at all, as you probably saw, I got dropped multiple times by roadies climbing. The flats I was only moving a good speed since the bike is fast!
Looks like velo or bicycle just a preference as similar overall speed unelss you live in flat terrain. Have a recumbent trike, got fed up of being slow climbing so stuck a motor on it; now alot more fun as overtake bicycles up hills aswell as down hills
Velomobiles are much faster on the flats than they are climbing. I too put a motor on a recumbent trike (have a video of it), it's great for commuting or taking it easy with the motor's help.
The guy on the trike is much faster than me too. He completed over 100 double centuries and PBP. I think he was on the Catrike 700 at around 36lbs and my XL is around 58-60lbs I think. It was warm and I just have to expect to be the slowest on the climbs.

It’s a big deal here in the Capital, starts on the Capital Mall. Would be nice to have. Velomobiel joined me and others to show California’s what it’s like to ride the fast bikes they ever have ridden I’m very slow due to a spinal cord injury so just signed up for the 60 mile ride. My blue and white your make us red white and Blue anyway check it out!
There's no electric version. You have to add your own motor if you want. I have a video showing the Bafang BBSHD motor unboxing and another setting it up on a trike.
Thanks for the question, it really depends on the terrain. As you may have seen, it's slow climbing so with a similar climb and pace for 100 miles (& 6k feet climbing) averaging around 14 mph, it'll take roughly 7 hours and 15 minutes of moving time.
@@pedalpowercycling dang honestly if you were just only caring about time or speed you could probably do a 100miler in maybe 2 hours if you went all out that’s amazing though!
@@mariamakamara5592 Thanks for the props but I'm nowhere near that fast. Others have completed 100 miles in under 3 hours in faster velomobiles (i.e. Milan SL) on an out and back course in Florida.

I love velomobiles, of course mine is a little older then yours. I drive an Alleweder A2, built in 98. I am slow compared to you.

If the roads are smooth and no head wind and no stop and go I can cruise between 28-30mph. So that'll be 3.5hrs to go 100 miles of ride time.
