Pulled BBQ Chicken Crockpot Recipe

- Doesn't get much easier than this. All you need is a crockpot, chicken breast and a bbq sauce of your choice.
Simply put the chicken breast in the crockpot and cover with sauce. Set the crockpot on low and allow to cook for 6 hours. At this time shred the chicken. You can either eat it as is, or for more flavor, put it back in the crockpot for 2 more hours. Either way, it's a great easy meal (and leaves plenty of leftovers).

Why didn’t I wash the chicken? Per the USDA: Washing raw poultry, beef, pork, lamb, or veal before cooking it is not recommended. Bacteria in raw meat and poultry juices can be spread to other foods, utensils, and surfaces. We call this cross-contamination.
Some consumers think they are removing bacteria and making their meat or poultry safe. However, some of the bacteria are so tightly attached that you could not remove them no matter how many times you washed. But there are other types of bacteria that can be easily washed off and splashed on the surfaces of your kitchen. Failure to clean these contaminated areas can lead to foodborne illness. Cooking (baking, broiling, boiling, and grilling) to the right temperature kills the bacteria, so washing food is not necessary.
Man talks about cross contamination as he grabs the BBQ sauce bottle with the same hand he was placing the chicken in the pot
When u reheat the chicken on say on the fifth day if u did meal prep for the weak will the chicken be dry? I made a recipe with salsa and after the second day it was like chewing rubber.
@@BigNica if you're gonna use boiling hot water why would that make it any cleaner than just straight cooking it, and if cooking it will kill bacteria why would you bother with vinegar salt and lime? Unless that's a marinade in its self maybe again in which case you will proceed to cook and kill any bacteria anyway....
@lovelyblkwoman Brown tell me please how washing it first kills bacteria better than cooking it?
@@BigNica and what chemicals are we talking that aren't destroyed by heat, also if it's chemicals that are ingested wouldn't the meat itself be tainted not just on the surface but actually part of meat?
Just a helpful tip. To help the chicken absorb more flavour from the BBQ sauce, pierce the raw chicken breasts repeated with a fork before placing it the crockpot. Its the same principle that is used when marinating chicken.
Thanks for the video!
Good point, I usually cut it into smaller pieces in most cases.
@@averyvaliant … how much olive oil and how long do you cook the meat with the BBQ sauce when you put the “pulled” chicken back in?
Hey Brandon I tried this recipe out, I used salsa and hot sauce instead of bbq sauce, turned out great, after i pulled the chicken out I added water to the salsa and hot sauce mix in the crock pot and added brown rice, cooked it for 3 hours and ended up with amazing spanish rice to accompany the chicken breast i previously cooked
I am making a lifestyle change and hoping to adapt to better eating for myself and my children. I loved this video because as I am a single Mom I'm either at work or helping the kiddos this is something that's easy and healthy for us instead of fast food. Thank you so much!
no problem, I have a pulled buffalo chicken recipe that I think is much better than this one (and just as easy)
Wow same here!! I need to lose weight and eat healthier
Thank you for posting this. I bought a crock pot today and tried the recipe and it worked out great!
I made this last night and it turned out great. I plan to do this every Sunday as part of my meal prep. That way I have it on hand at all times for a quick meal. I mixed bbq sauce and buffalo wing sauce together and it was magic.
If you don't mind an additional step, then you could brown the chicken in a skillet (cut up or not, your preference) before putting it the crock pot. Doing this will reduce the cook time in the Crock Pot, and will also greatly reduce the amount of water left behind in the sauce. Furthermore, it reduces the amount of sauce that you need.
Using the same setup but substituting chili seasoning, Rotel, and chicken broth makes Chicken Chili. Beans or no once again your preference.
I actually bought a crock-pot and some chicken breast after watching this video. Really good idea in terms of having food pretty much ready at night time/dinner time when you're out for the whole day.
Love it - this is going to be my new Tuesday night dinner because I don't get home until 7:30 and the last thing I feel like doing is cooking! Thanx Brandon! :)
I need a crockpot in my life
....you sound more like a freaking Michigan Ectomorph to me! Fuck the crockpot, Moe
Brandon this is awesome found this last night on accident I had 6 pounds of chicken just sitting in the freezer added two bottles of .49 cent on sale bb sauce bottles. One word Amazing. I did speed up the cooking time by flipping it to high for an hour and a half then cooked it on low for 3 tastes amazing nice and moist this dish made at least 6 meals and it only cost 8 bucks. Keep the awesome tips coming bro.
Glad to hear it turned out ok! I need to find some .49 bbq sauce!
Yum, can't wait to try. Thank you for all the hard work on your channel. and keep the great recipes coming.
WHOA NOT SAUCEY ENOUGH FOR ME. I was looking for a thick ending. Most likely i will pour a extra bottle on top and mix after it's done and out the pot.
+SIESIE CHAMPION Whatever floats your boat!
Come to my house... I'll give ya a thick ending
add flour to the saucey crock pot or corn starch thinckens the sauce and makes a great topping
I'm really late commenting, but I just saw this video. I dont put that much sauce in the beginning. Just a little to coat and flavor as it cooks. Then when it's done I shred it and mix more BBQ sauce wih some of the cooking liquid and that seems to be work best for us. Just a suggestion tho.
You can thicken the sauce by reducing it in a pan and add it back to the chicken
I'm making it now I'm using a sweet baby rays bbq tho..,
nice.
Yes sir!!! Love the Baby!
I know its 2019 now, but sweet baby rays is some good stuff!
Best Freakin BBQ Sauce!
Paul Woods love Sweet Baby Ray’s! I used that in my pulled chicken sandwich recipe on my page! 🖤
Ah Brandon, love the fact that you still take time out of your day to respond to people's questions you've already answered in other vids. Good on ya, reason we all stay tuned!
Glad to hear, really dynamic in terms of what you can make!
Almost a 6 min. video and it could have been explained in 1 min. Add chicken to crock pot, cover in sauce, and cook on low for 5 hours.
+hsmadness No
hsmadness, nah man, the whole point is to explain in detail and show in detail, which is clearly true if you look at the other comments
Directions unclear, house is flooded.
Dead 💀💀💀💀💀💀😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why be negative when you can choose to be grateful that you have access to the video for free.
Please add some spices. Pepper, dill, Cayenne, literally ANYTHING. omg don't just slap plain meat in there.
+Andrea Corona no need to.
definitely. I flavor and seal my chicken first. comes out amazing but everyone has different taste buds lol
Garlic powder and Oregano. Hmmmmm :)
But barbecue sauce already has a lot of ingredients in it👍
what ive found with crock pot meals is pretty much whatever sauce you use it all ends up tasting like crock pot food
Great recipe, gonna give a shot!!! thanks B and happy new year bro!!
Bought me a crockpot and luckily for me, my dad owns a restaurant so I have an unlimited supply of chicken and hot/bbq sauce! If only I could share with my fellow campbell fitness community
Yikes! I didn't see you wash your hands after touching the raw chicken! That's a no-no! :(
I'm sure he did wash his hands off screen. lol.
he is at home. I don't use gloves in my house
His chicken is unbelievably clean... peace and hugs KP
Other countries don't have the FDA. It's fine. He isn't in a restaurant or store where they have health inspections and stuff.
Sooo... we just not going to clean the chicken is what your saying
No need. The bacteria is killed in the cooking process.
Americans and their pathetic FDA and scares.
Really glad to hear it worked out!
Great recipe. I transfer my pulled chicken back into the crockpot for a further hour to cook in the bbq sauce and it is fantastic!!!
+Mark Roberts Nice!
To be honest, it doesn't look that appetizing. It looks like raw chicken that hasn't been washed with a ready made sauce dumped on top of it. So not really anything I'd made but I believe you if you say it tastes good. To me cooking is cooking from scratch.
cool
Honestly that's what I was thinking. The juice looks so separated from the chicken. I hope it actually absorbed enough of the bbq sauce for flavor. I appreciate the video but i'm just being honest.
Rigo Martinez honestly your comment makes you look like a douche bag...sorry, just being honest 🙋🏻
Penny Dreadness Thanks for the honesty. I feel so guilty now......not. Relax Dreadfulness. It's my opinion, dont go lose sleep over it now.
OrangeTabbyCat thats the whole point , its something simple for people who dont have time
You don't rinse chicken to clean it, you rinse it to get that outer membrane off. A lot of dumb comments about this...
I've never had membrane on my chicken, sounds pretty gross lol.
i have a freezer full of chicken breasts that I had no idea what to do with, now I know. Thanks for sharing!!!
+EmpressNatiLocs Put em to use!
I will try the recipe out! Looks so amazing!
damn man! wash them chickens before you cook them
Peter Kinzio no need.
+Peter Kinzio Dude, did you not pass safe food handling, that's dangerous as hell.
+TheGogobooty actually it isn't. the heat kills bacteria and it's actually more of a health hazard to wash chicken as the bacteria splatters all over your sink. this can be found with a simple google search.
Peter Kinzio No....you should never wash chicken.
Don't need to. If you stayed in school, you'd learn salmonella bacteria dies from being cooked.
I wouldn't eat that chicken-- he didn't even wash it off first
+terrence gillis B/c there's no reason to.
+terrence gillis Washing raw chicken is unsafe. Seriously, google it
terrence gillis I feel like you live most your life on Google 😂🤣 what's your moms basement look like?
That looked easy and delish and you're so full of great info! Thanks!
Thanks for taking a look
Looks good! I tried your buffalo chicken crockpot recipe when it first came out and loved it.
Ewwww clean your chicken!!! Disgusting!!!!
no
I said the same thing! These people on here act like I said something out of this world! I wash every piece of meat I eat!
Exactly. That is sooo nasty! Clean your chicken. It's a good recipe but that is nasty. It must be a wh--- NVM!!! 💅
Roe La'Fway no
Oh shut up!!!!! 👆👆👆👆
Thumbs down for not washing the chicken!
Lisa Vargas You must be new here.
Brandon Campbell no i am not new here. I use CZcams to do a lot of my cooking. However, I wrote what I am feeling. That is what is great about being an American. This country provides "freedom of speech" btw I am a subscriber, if u prefer
that I do not follow you anymore, please let me know. Have a great and blessed day
+Lisa Vargas should say thumbs down for not washing hands and touching the crock pot
Washing chicken.. Waste of time. If you're cooking it correctly at the right temperature, there's no need to "wash". You do more harm than good when you do that.
+John Taylor
not so much for getting rid of germs but... have you ever worked in a food factory ?
There is grease on conveyor belts, dust, left over amonia agent from the nights wash crew... etc etc etc ,, i can think of a number of reasons to wash raw meat before cooking it...
wow do you not know the guy in the packaging department didnt scratch his hairy ass before packing your chicken ???
What a simple, yet perfect recipe. Thanks for sharing!
no problem!
Good vid learned more about cooking haha!! Happy new year!!

Sweet recipe. Adding to the list. Cheers

HI, I love this! I've even done it with a Pork Loin and it comes out perfect! I like Open-Pit Char grill flavor for the slight smokiness.
The leftover sauce is great for making BBQ rice, not for everyday but for a nice get together it's a real crowd pleaser:) Thanks.
Nice!!
Thanks fixing to try this right now

Beast! One of my personal favorites.
I might be able to do some in the future. I should have another crockpot recipe up in the next week.

BBQ Chicken is easily one of my favourite foods, will be having this for sure. Going to have to get into this slow cooking lark!

Liz Torres Hope it goes well!
Dude that looks great.
Thank you for your video. Thank you even more for not adding background music while demonstrating your wonderful recipe. Big thumps up!
appreciated!
Thanks my manb
Really like it.
Sounds like a keeper!
Another great vid, Brandon.
appreciated!
appreciate that!
I usually account for about 1 serving of bbq sauce macros per sandwich.
Just use macros for chicken breast based on weight, then add some depending on sauce.
Really up to you!
When he said "Imma try to do it somewhat gracefully"... 🤣🤣🤣
😉
Thanks for such an easy recipe I really appreciate it . Xx
No problem!
That's my usual go to!
awesome!
loved your recipe... ribs were tender and very tasteful... thankyou
Glad to hear!
Brandon, a better way you can get all that sauce out of the bottle instead of draining it is by adding just a little bit of water to the bottle, closing it, shaking it up, and pouring out the rest of it. Works great in my opinion!
i faved this one. good work BC.
It's really up to you. Obviously the bigger you go the more food you can make, but a smaller one would work just as well!
