How to Make a Christmas Explosion Box | Paper Box - Crystal Best
In this video, I will show you step by step, how to make your very own Christmas Room Explosion Box.

Materials you'll need to make your Explosion Box:
All sized are in INCHES and are Cardstock.
1. For the Box:
a. 1 piece 12 x 12 in red
b. 1 piece 6 1/8 x 6 1/8 for the cover in red
2. Layers for outside the box (sides):
a. 4 pieces 3 7/8 x 3 7/8 in white
b. 4 pieces 3 ¾ x 3 ¾ in designer paper
3. Layers for the cover (a-c top, d-e sides):
a. 1 piece 4 x 4 in white
b. 1 piece 3 7/8 x 3 7/8 in red
c. 1 piece 3 ¾ x 3 ¾ in white
d. 4 pieces 4 x 7/8 in white
e. 4 pieces 3 7/8 x 3/4 in red
4. Layers for inside the box (room section - floor and walls):
a. 1 piece 3 7/3 x 3 7/8 for floor in wood
b. 2 pieces 4 x 2 for lower wall in designer paper
c. 2 pieces 4 x 2 ½ for upper wall in pearl with scalloped cut out at base
5. Layers for the pocket section:
a. 2 pieces for inside the pockets 3 7/8 x 3 7/8 in designer paper
b. 1 piece 3 ¾ x 3 ¾ cut diagonally in white
c. 1 piece 3 ¾ x 3 ¾ cut diagonally in designer paper
d. 1 piece 4 x 4 cut diagonally (Use piece which you cut out from box)
e. 1 ½ inch scalloped circle in red amzn.to/3MiPh1O
f. 1 1/8 inch scalloped circle in green
g. 1 ¾ snowflake
6. Decorations for inside wall:
a. 1 window die cut 2 x 3 (if you don’t have a window die you can make a DIY window with my directions here: • How to Make a DIY Wind... )
b. 1 printed fireplace 2 3/8 x 2 ¼
c. 1 piece of foam 2 x 2 ¼ for back of fireplace
d. 1 printed wreath
e. 1 cat 1 inch
7. Decorations for inside room:
a. 8 Christmas trees 3 ¼ tall - buy here - amzn.to/3QEeUN5
b. 3 stars ½ inch
c. Gold string to wrap around Christmas tree
d. 1 piece 1/8 x 1 ½ in brown for base of Christmas tree
e. 3 gift boxes (tutorial for how to make a cube: • How to Make DIY Decora... )
8. Decorations for top of box:
a. 3 die cut poinsettia flowers with 4 leaves - buy here - amzn.to/3QlsXFW
b. 1 die cut sentiment 2 x 1 oval
c. 1 piece to support sentiment upright 1 ½ x 1 in white
9. Cards for pockets:
a. 1 piece 3 x 3 in red for flat card
b. 1 piece 2 ¾ x 2 ¾ with Merry Christmas printed or stamped
c. 1 card 3x 6 folded in half for folded card
d. 2 pieces 2 7/8 x 2 7/8 in red
e. 1 piece with another sentiment for front of folded card
f. 1 piece 2 ¾ x 2 ¾ blank to write a note
10. Paper Cutter
11. Bone folder or ruler to burnish score lines

I love this!! I can't believe how easy you made it look. The tree and packages looked intimidating, but it seems very simple to do. I love creating scenes on cards and am
always looking for something new to up my game. This is definitely it!!! I do have a question though... some videos I've watched about scene building suggest that you decorate the walls or background before you assemble and glue. None of these were for a box card. You decorated after you assemble. Do you think it would make a difference in this type of card? It didn't seem to be an issue for you. I might have said this before, but I am so glad I found you and your channel. 🥰 I'll bet that your family and friends love receiving the beautiful things you make.
Hey Pam! Thanks so much for your awesome comment. I just love reading your comments. 😁😁 To answer your question I find that assembling before allows me to cut my paper perfectly to suit the finished assembled size so there's no background peeking out or any gluing issues like that to deal with. Except for where you must stick something down like with the pockets where I had to decorate the inside first or we wouldn't be able to get it comfortably in there. I hope this answers your question. Yes my creations are on desks, bureaus, in kitchens and all over people's houses. I love to see them when I visit. It's just such fun to create for others. My. Mom has all her cards and creations right in her living room and whenever I go it's so sweet to look at. 😍😍😍

Gift cards can absolutely fit in those pockets. Very nicely! You could even make a little miniature envelope to put the gift card in in designer paper to coordinate it and when they open is they would be so thrilled!!!! Eeeek I'm excited for you now.
