I live in Eugene, Oregon, and my favorite stomping grounds (along with the beach, lol) are the Western Cascades. A few years ago, I discovered a great passion for summiting mountains that are the sites of former fire lookouts, and oh boy, do we have a ton of them!! The history behind them is so fascinating! Two years ago, I visited "Bob" at the still-manned Carpenter Mountain Lookout. He was a wealth of information and I'm so grateful I made it up there, because last year the Lookout Fire burned through the lower part of the trail and beautiful Old Growth Forest, and it's still closed. The tower survived, though! Poor Moose, hope the repairs went well!!❤😊

Every dent or scrape is a momento from where it was gained. My last Mog gained some interesting horse teeth marks in the front bumper and the current one some tree action down the sides. All part of the adventure !

Looked like some kind of ruins to the right of your view. Can’t help but wonder about those who came many years before us.
In spite of growing up in the suburbs of Philadelphia I never heard of that abomination Cheez Whiz on a Philly Cheese Steak until my sister got one, split it in half and I came face to sandwich with fluorescent orange…canned “cheese.” I promptly gave it back to her. It’s real white American cheese or nothing. And it would be amazing to take a sandwich up on top of the ‘mog to watch the sunset. The stars must be unreal!

Fire lookout towers have been replaced with technology, everything from remote cameras to satellites. It has been proven time after time that when things are not used, they deteriorate much faster than when they are used. Whether it be a house, airplane, boat, or camper, they all fall apart faster when sitting unused. Yes, individual items break from use, but they get fixed and stay usable. What you are experiencing though is not considered normal wear and tear, but more like "abuse"... 🙄
