The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom starts us off in a very peculiar place. The Great Sky Island takes the place of Breath of the Wild's Great Plateau as the player navigates this area to unlock more abilities for their zonai arm. But can we leave this island early and sequence break the game? Let's find out!

Okay!
I feel bad for whatever poor bokoblin got crushed by the unfortunate slipups of the bridges falling off the islands

i do not
if it was a silver one though that's a completely different story
@@cyanthehedgehog777 he'd probably only lose a quarter of his health
It wasn't a bokoblin... It was Kass! why else is he not here? dun Dun DUUUUN!!!
When you started talking about building “stupidity long bridges and ramps”, I legitimately thought you were planning to try and build one long enough to reach the ground
That would be hilarious
Me who thought the exact same:

Not possible unfortunately due to the fuse limit :(
@@user-hu8pq9dx5ddamn how does the fuse limit work? Is it a maximum number of fuses in one “object” or like a literal maximum number of fuses that can exist in game at all. At least if it was the first there may be some conceivable workaround. Otherwise we’re probably fucked and that’s kinda on brand for Nintendo
@@monhi64 i mean to be fair it is absolutely not what we're meant to do, and is a good bit of genius on their part considering how that is actually good game design. Sucks to be us wanting to cheese but it is what it is.
I was able to get behind the Temple of Time with Ultrahand and Ascend! I didnt try jumping off the island but it was fun being back there. 😂
Lol first thing I did was walk across that grind rail next to the first shrine, before you get Ultrahand. Don't think I was supposed to do that, it was hell getting to the shrine from the other side, I had no way to make a bridge yet lmao.
It's funny to see the freedom the game gives us !
I got back there by just climbing with no abilitys at all
All you need is ascend
Same, but with no abillitys. Then I shiled jumped over, if I remember it correctly.
In regards to the floating platforms, I learned about their despawn feature in the hardest way possible literally last night (as of writing).
Was trying to make my way to one of the labyrinths in the sky using these platforms and Zonai fans like a makeshift air ship. Was making pretty good progress when I suddenly noticed the platforms started to flash. Realizing what was about to happen, I scrambled to figure something out cuz as far as I can tell, the sky labyrinth was the ONLY place that had a shrine, aka a fast travel point so if I fell I would lose A LOT of progress. I quickly made a campfire and added a pine one to make a whirlwind JUST as the platform respawned to give me just enough height to reach the structures just below the labyrinth entrance.
I am very proud of this feat :^)
i think i jusssst managed to glide to the platforms underneath to ascend through hehe
@@squeenixu same here.
Talk about a butt clench moment, right? XD
I had the bird with me, but it was still a clutch moment lol!
The wings disappearing after a certain amount of time gall me to no end.
The only way I made sure I wouldn't get a "time's up" on my build, especially in order to reach the Easternmost Sky maze, which has amazing and surreal music, is to pick a sled, 4 fans facing downward, and a steering stick, and voilà! a drone that would NEVER expire (also extra useful for exploring the depths while using some occasional Large Zonai charge until you get all 45 battery upgrades)
I feel like you can tell how excited he is to have TOTK to break now, I love it!
There’s WAY too much to this game. I am honestly surprised at the scale of it. Potentially limitless possibilities given the sandbox nature of it!
@@SwankyBox Agreed, I'm thoroughly enjoying myself with it at the moment, haven't been able to give it much time but still I'm enjoying every new discovery when I get the chance! Looking forward to watching your new discoveries in the future :D
I've been trying to leave the sky island for days now. Need help. With just 3 hearts it seems impossible. Is there any way to use an amiibo to obtain a heart container?

Just for future reference, rotating the objects is based on with part of it you grab. I think you'll have an easier time moving stuff around by grabbing one of the ends rather than the middle
Anything good thing to note is that recall has a very long range and you can use it to bring back constructions you accidentally dropped.
@@hyrekandragon2665 recall is the final shrine of the sky islands. at that point all this would be pointless as you'd have gone through all the beginner tutorial content
@@toxicgreen8625 ah, still good to know though
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't get it at the last shrine, you get it beforehand, after getting the first three you go to the temple of time. Afterwards you have to open a 4 hearts door and then are directed to the final shrine.
@@jaxsonadros2066 yep
just in case someone is planning to do something similar to this in the future, keep in mind, you dont have to carry it in its bridge for, you can stack the materials in a more compact way and then disassemble the condensed stack when you need to build the bridge. Helps greatly with not getting caught on the environment.
Funny thing, you can actually just walk along the edges of the temple to get to the back without opening the door or using platforms
I know right

@@MLennholmwhich new finds are you two talking about? I looked around for a while but couldn't find any info
you might not be able to make the Wing fly with just Ultrahand, but you can with both Ultrahand and Recall. Lift it up with Ultrahand, hold it there for e few seconds, then drop it at your feet. then stand on it and Recall, and BAM, you're in the air! Cancel the recall at the height of the lift, and you start to fly!
My guess is that the destroy box is connected to an event activation, so if you could activate a thing early on then you'd be able to leave the area. This would be some Paper Mario level stuff though.
Imagine if all the delays were because people kept getting to Hyrule early in testing and mister Nintendo was like "Oh heck no you don't"
That might have actually happened
The way most people get the energy cell to power zonai devices is doing 2 shrines. Although if you go to the snow, you will find a zonai helper(?) at the river making rafts with fans on them. By talking to him you will get the energy "early".
I've got three for you.
1: Korok torture devices
2: Korok Space Program
3: Giant Mech
its a shame that youre trying to leave the Sky with JUST UltraHand...if you at least got Recall first, you mightve been able to save some of those bridges from orbital-striking Hyrule's Surface...
but recall is the last ability
Can also fly with Recall and Ultrahand and a Wing. Ultrahand, lift wing, place it down. climb aboard, Recall, and it lifts back into the air where you had it. cancel the Recall in mid-air, and now you're flying!
@@sparrowflyaway meh, that method isnt that great in my experience...you cant UltraLift the Wing high enough for it to REALLY get a good glide...but you can shoot an arrow with a bundle of Wood fused to it, and then attach things to the Wood and Recall it for a super-quick way to carry things...like, say, Koroks (go to the 'destination' Korok, fire the arrow towards the 'stranded' Korok, Recall the 'stranded' to the 'destination')
@@rtyuik7 My god... You're a genius!!
@@karelissomoved1505 you can get them in any order
One thing I learned getting Bolson's 15 logs. Stacks can be as efficient as you want them to be. Also, logs stacked up in a 3x5 pile don't seem to take fall damage and slide REEEALLY well. Like, almost slipped straight outside the render area as I desperately flung myself toward the town to catch up.
When I first got Ascend, I used it to get to the very top of the Temple of Time, thinking there would be something cool up there. Turns out nothing is there, at least as first. I didn't try to leave the island but it was fun just seeing how many places you could get with just the innate abilities.
I found one single Korok near the top of it when I came back later on.
I did the same exact thing. I found a small spot to ascend through the ceiling and thought I was Einstein playing 4d chess. Didn't find anything though
After you get the Zora armor(I believe it’s the prerequisite) then it unlocks a cool side quest.
If you can, speedrunners are gonna love this. We can already beat gannondorf early and now the sky island
I'm so excited to see how broken this game will get with glitches and speedruns
When you think about completing this game 100%, that feels daunting, I cannot imagine the amount of work that the devs had to put in not only to include everything in this masterpiece, but to rid it of bugs that render it unplayable, the delays finally make sense. If this is what quality time spent developing does for gaming, then I am all for waiting a bit longer.
You COULD just stack all the stuff on top of each other to make a 'bundle' to carry into position. The stacked bundle might be able to be attached to a floating platform, and raised up to wherever you need to go.
The No% runs for this game are going to be insane oh my gods 😂
I did the same thing with the floating platforms my second playthrough and found something interesting. They only despawn if you go too far away from the original x and y coordinates, but not the z coordinate. Using this knowledge, I went to the recall shrine before getting recall, except the game wouldn't let me into the shrine. I was very disappointed.
I tried the same thing with two floating platforms, because I forgot that Ascend existed and couldn't figure out a way to get on the rotating gear (in the Room of Awakening) I clearly was supposed to use Recall on.
Tried to get on top of the island from the outside (and way, waayy down) with these platforms. Good times. :)
I think that because we didn't got to leave the great plateau in botw without the paraglider, it would be pretty weird we found a way to leave the sky islands
I was assuming that the rest of the map wouldn’t even load in until you lose the Master Sword.
The loading system for botw and this game is generally based on proximity only. There aren't many instances of things being unloaded due to sequence breaking. Only times you see unloaded areas are from moving too fast, and you have to move REALLY too fast.
@@GIRGHGH or when you escape dark beast ganon in botw

Your tenacity is extremely admirable. Thanks for suffering just for our entertainment, SwankyBox!
Rauru watching Link build a 300 foot wooden bridge to escape the island rather than doing anything asked of him: 🤦😭
The part where you talked about moving the two floating platforms around.......That's how I got to the shrine up on the icy section. I gave up on finding the path, said "SCREW IT!" and used two of them to get up there. It must've taken me fifteen minutes or so........But, that's infinitely better than the time I poured into looking for the right way up!
You can leave early, not in one piece, but you can do it.
Yes in one piece, but not alive
if you can get those floating platforms in an infinite tilt from another floating plat, you can get them to zoom in the tilted directino extremely fast
As someone who wants to attempt a 3 hearts, default stamina run in the future (I am allowed to use any abilities and get any gear, but not allowed stamina wells or heart containers), I find this video very interesting.
//edit: Sad it wasn't actually possible to leave early. Well, I guess I will have to settle for removing the 4th heart with the demon statue under lookout landing as soon as it is possible.
I forgot about your channel but just found it in my fyp, bout to binge vids
i managed to get to the other side of the temple of time just with clever climbing and no rune abilities
I did that too
lol I could have told you there was a "death barrier". You can fly off the island as soon as you find any zonai wing
You can get behind the temple before you are supposed to but you need to trigger a cutscene after opening the door to jump off the island.
I wonder where in the door that cutscene trigger is located and whether you could Ascend through it somehow to trigger it. I dunno whether there's any space under the door to try it, but it might work if it can be figured out. might require glitching out of bounds to get below the door...
@@sparrowflyaway could be it's not even there until you meet the conditions to open it.
@@sparrowflyaway I'm pretty sure the trigger isn't a physical area but rather the action of opening the door.
Protip: you can make a bridge out of the floating blocks then go to the one you want to pivot around and detach it so you can grab bulk of the bridge and rotate it to where you need it to be and reattach. You can also make staircases this way.
There's also ways to make the floating blocks propel each other because they will always exert force to try to self-right, and you can oppose their self-right force to each other in such a way that they can't quite reach equilibrium, so they produce a vector of motion perpendicular to that.
The next major thing in this is to check what precise conditions cause the box-of-no-escape to disappear.
You can try going to the back of the temple of time after doing the 4 shrines but without going into the temple (use ascend or ultra hand to get to the 4th shrine without rewind)
I know I did manage to get to the top of the temple with Ascend, but it requires very specific locations to go up. There's like there weird sections of...dirt? gravel? not entirely sure but you have to find where those are on the level above you and ascend through them,
Saving doesn't save objects anywhere in the game, not just the starting area.
finally some original content about zelda instead of a rehash. thank you sir
If you put enough weight on the floating platforms, they will start to sink slowly and you can ride them down as they do. I didn't find out about this until I was off of Great Sky Island, but it might be worth a try
You’d still hit the invisible death wall.
@@matthew8153 Yeah I was already past it when I posted and couldn't test or anything lol I hadn't heard about the 1 hr speedruns at that point yet either
I love your videos, they are very creative and they are great!
Wonder if you could build some sort of catapult to get "over" the barrier. Better aim for some water though....
Btw you can get the batteries from one of the constructs when you talk to them. I'm not sure which one it was but that's how I got it.
You dont need a bridge to get behind the temple of time. In my first play-through I just walked on the ledge around it and used ascend to get behind the door before 4 hearts
Fr this guy's just bad
He was doing it with just Ultrahand
Yeah but why was he doing it with only ultrahand?
The first half of this video was just me going in blind to Rito Village and building a bridge of logs because I didn't talk to an NPC that is very conveniently placed to tell you a better way to get across the gap using a singular pinecone.
Wrong warping to the depths of to ground level may be different in this game as they are different maps..
If you can do the depths you can technically wrong warp to depths then use the "control stick" glitch to enter gannon early
I'm sure speedrunners will find a way. For now though, it's a waste of time to attempt any skips on that floating section.
Reminds me of when I tried to take a cucco to the depths prior to getting the paraglider. The darn thing just vanished, causing me to plummet to my doom
lol midway into the video when you get up to that island you aren't supposed to be at yet and there's Rauru just standing there. I imagine he's thinking..."Link...what the ***k are you doing? Finish the arm upgrades!" :P
Haven’t red the (374) comments so maybe not news, but you can attach a wing to a floating platform, and a fan to that, and cruise without losing altitude as far as the wing lasts. Best place to start is the eastern capsule dispenser. However, you can’t sequence break because as soon as you hit the region boundary on the over world map you instantly die/respawn. You also cannot change altitude
This trick also works to sail to the top of Temple of Time, not that there’s anything there…
Mystic heroes music nice also cool vid :)
Here's something to try!
Try to get to the 4th shrine without fast traveling!
I didn't even realize you could fast travel by the time I reached the 4th shrine.
i found this out because i glued 2 of the wings together and used the break apart method to fly to the dragon of light right away and was despawned when i got like ten feet from her
Don't need Ultrahand to get back there. All you need to do is get to the snowy dispenser area and you can take a wing down if you are careful. I was able to get there without any abilities, battery, and only 3 hearts.
What about getting accend, then going under the temple with floating platforms?
Goal being to get behind door without the hearts for it and trigger cutscene that gets rid of death barrier.
You can get behind the Temple Of Time without going through the door but the cutscene doesn't happen
This video help to knowing if you can down the ground in the start of the game passing the islands
Currently yes however it takes about an hour and a half of waiting and half an hour of setup
Great stuff. I love videos like this.
Question: can you get recall early? With Ultrahand to move objects & accend to go through ground.. would assume you can build something just underneath the closed doors to get inside.
Thank you for realizing the incredible potential of absurdly long bridges. They are quite simply the best simple structure
There’s a recent glitch called weapon overload that allows you to “descend” with a steering stick
Off topic question, but, what is the name of the OST at 2:00? I heard it many times in other videos, but i don't know from what game it comes from 😅
Ruins from Undertale
@@gaaargehazard2501 thank you!
I was able to glide to the top of the temple of time on a wing, I wonder if there’s a way to get down to the back from there because it was super easy to get on top
prevideo answer: no, because zelda has to dispel the “spell” that hides sky islands from the ground, and that barrier will just send you back
Funny thing is, with my knowledge of BK Nuts & Bolts from 2008, I'd be attempting this too. 😂
Ultra hand making robot,gundam,
Him:long stack of wood,hehe
I accidentally got behind the temple in the area I was supposed to jump off before I was supposed to, because I flew to it with a wing and got on the upper levels. I could not figure out how to get down! I ended up just going to a previous save because I was stuck high on the temple.
Bros screaming at the top of his lungs
I accidentally fell off the Zonai wing and landed behind the temple of time but I had no idea what was going on
If you can go really fast, you could unload the death barrier and prevent a void out
That was fun Dude!
Link does freefall in the title sequence. Is there a way to steer him around and maybe dive fast enough to bypass the loading zone, or did the devs already consider that?
The sky islands were so cool. Super underused
You actually don't need a large bridge to get behind the temple of time, just a single use of ascend and then a bit of climbing. 3:02
I think the most fun I've hade with game so far was climbing to the top of the new temple of time instead of activating the event at the front door. Unfortunately, there's not much of anything up there.
Also can I just say how stupid it is that you can't go into the shrines until activating that event? You didn't have to talk to the old man before doing the great plateau shrines.
I had already been to the snow area and gotten zonai devices from the gumball machine by the time I tried going into the ToT and it made me go all the way back there.
And for what? ASCEND? The worst powerup?
now this is a job for RTGame...

The only thing better then insanely long bridges is attaching as many rockets as possible to stuff. Conclusion? Rocket bridge.
I didn’t know you were supposed to use the assent ability so I made a long bridge to get to the top island.

I'm very excited to see all of the stupid ways people manage to break this game
Him: reloading a save doesnt save the constructs
Me watching not albino reload a bunch of times just to get the materials back: Ok then
Neat run & analysis video! Thanks for uploading!
It's always interesting when stuff like this is at the innovation & development stage; To me, such stuff is far more interesting than the "Who can do the same stuff but with better reflexes?" that comes later.
Spoiler: Currently no. But we might find a glitch that would allow it anyway
Thanks
I almost did something, i haven't watched the video so i hoped they didn't Say It, but using Ascend i almost skipped getting the Heart and recall, i gave up since i wasted 10 minutes but i almost did It.
Thank you for saving my time!
Which will then get patched
Even if it’s possible, like with the great plateau in botw, it’s highly likely that countless checks are in place to prevent it, I’d go as far as to say that instead of just a sky death plane, there’s likely a death box surrounding the great sky island to prevent it.
I do have to wonder, what is the prerequisite for the scene past the doors at the temple of time? Is it after you get recall or after you open the door? Because if you have to open the door then that presumably means that you have to clear all 4 shrines no matter what
Yes. You have to open the door
We clearly have way too many options at our disposal. Even with just Magnesis, we already made flying machines. Now the flying machines are intentional.
I didnt build a raft to get to that one shrine, i just glued the maximum number of logs together to make a Stupidly Long Bridge™
2:56 you dont need a bridge, just climb around
"Too long; didn't watch" version:
No, you can't
I'm willing to bet if someone could somehow get a fourth heart early, they could theoretically get into the temple of time (maybe through clipping or something, I KNOW there's gotta be something they could pull) and open the door behind the goddess statue. I think that door is probably what triggers the master sword cutscene to activate. Just need to find out if a fourth heart early is even possible.
I've been working on this since launch. Maybe an amiibo or a door glitch.
You probably have to time a roll and sidestep in a way that Link gets through collision and then you angle the camera before rolling or something. Sorta like in Wind Waker with the barrier.
@@RyzenZegend I wonder what triggers the death box to disappear? I believe you needed to have the paraglider item to leave the botw plateau death box. Maybe this is similar? Does losing the master sword item remove the death barrier? Or is it the cutscene with Zelda that removes it? Because if you could find a way to lose the sword early (or not pick it up in the first place), maybe then you could leave the death box. Or early heart...
@@theshwong So far I've been able to duplicate recharge batteries to fly anywhere I want. However because of only having 3 hearts It stops all my flying contraptions. I figured if there is a way to fly to a floating Island with a boss, then you could defeat the boss and get a heart then make your back to sky island then simply open the back door without exchanging a blessing!
But right it's difficult. Also I have plenty of Masters Swords with a Broken one.
Maybe there is a way for Link not to lose his hearts in the beginning. I'll keep updating my progress.
@@RyzenZegend Ok. I was trying the recall launch glitch to get major distance but I'm not very good at it.
If somebody can figure out how to warp to the credits in ocarina of time and beat that game in like a minute, I’m sure somebody can figure out how to get past this🤣
The Switch, as a modern platform, is significantly hardened against the kind of glitch that allows doing that in OoT (arbitrary code execution). In fact, the OS doesn't even allow games to create/map any additional executable code segments in memory aside from what was allocated for the process at startup, and that existing segment is never writable. This means you simply cannot change anything about the game's code at runtime, and trying will at best bring up an error screen that terminates the game. Attacks would have to focus on stack overflows or very specific memory corruption glitches to try to get the game to jump to specific existing functions while not also crashing. Very difficult. I wouldn't expect that kind of glitch to be discovered for more than a decade at this point, frankly.
@@QuasarEE I didn’t necessarily mean that’s how they were going to do it lol that was more to say. I’m sure if the community can get past that set of obstacles, the community can get past whatever set of obstacles are in front of them now :)
I'm sure in like 20 years lmao
8:57 so we aren’t going to talk about that insane clutch?
Ive been trying to do this for days now.
Please help me get off this island with 3 hearts.
Also you can go behind the temple of time just by staying on the first floor and just walking around the back then use ascend to the Bridge!
Also can we get a heart container with an amiibo?
