Guam is quite high value, and a big threat to the Chinese especially in the new plans and budgets for the base in the coming years, but they're not top priority. With Okinawa literally a sea away, South Korean bases only barely 1000km from Beijing, Japanese bases harboring a massive navy, and Taiwan bases in the island they're trying to take, priorities are elsewhere.

But the system is really not built for the area defense of Guam from jets, cruise missiles and UAS. Iron Dome is purpose-built to defend against rocket, mortar and (arguably) artillery attacks. It's exceptionally good at this, but that's not what's going to be fired at Guam. @@DanielPennybaker the thing is people think that PR is democrat, but it would actually be the most swing state there is. The political party on PR are both democrat and Republican, but mainly revolve around the political status of the territory. PPD,PNP, and the PIP. The PPD want to remain a commonwealth, and mostly stay the status, the PNP, is the party for statehood, and PIP, is for the independence of PR( this is only maybe around 5% of the population). The PNP, currently has both the Governor and the non-voting representative in the US House of Representatives. The Governor is a democrat on the national level, and the representative is a Republican on the national level. So really PR is a swing state, and would be highly competitive. One Republican territory I know of is the CNMI, which is the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas islands, a separate territory from Guam but on the same island chain. Both their Governor and rep are both Republicans. American Samoa also have a Republican representative, but the residents of the territory are US nationals at birth and not us citizens, even though they are born on sovereign American soil
