Maximise your darts practice

  • So we have spoke in previous videos about getting the most out of your darts practice. In order to do that we use PWI practice with intent over timed practice.
    A good darts practice should consist of games that have a fear of failure and a desire to succeed over endless throwing in the direction of the board.
    This would be the advice of any top professional weather on the PDC pro tour circuit or the BDO. The advise is always maximise that practice. In this video I share with you 3 games, one beginner, one standard and one hard, that should keep you going during isolation.

      I already have a pretty long practice routine so I only added #3. Just did it and finished it on the first attempt. On a sadder note I have yet to complete #8 and #9 of your challenge series. Had to take a break from those but will try them again in a couple of days.

    @matthewedgar Loving reds & greens! I play a doubles game where you shoot for all the single dart outs, starting with the 50, 40, 38, etc. To proceed to the next out, you have to check out the number in as many darts as it takes, playing by the same 501 rules. If you miss inside the double 20, you have to shoot double 10 for example. I tried playing both games at the same time and got a red & green score of 29 by the time I got all the way around. If you get down to 0 red and green points, you start back at the 50 with 5 points. Turns out to be a nice way to raise the stakes for the doubles game, and a good way to make red & greens more intentional.

    We used too play a game called 21 ,start with 1 hit one double 1 add 2 two too 21 miss all three subtract 2 then on too double 2 hit three doubles add 6 and on and on as long as you have at least 1 you move on too the next number.

  • @s_club_axes
    @s_club_axes Před 3 lety

    You could even modify game 1 to incorporate power scoring, only counting the R&Gs in 16-20...obviously as a highe lever though

  • @hijlkecornelisboorsma1058

    for the dubbels you can play bob's 27.start on 1 each dubbel you hit you get the points for the dubbel when you mis all 3 you lose the points. when you are on 0 you start over

    In second game, does only the bullseye count or could you score 80 on the 20’s + 25 = 105? Stay at same score or count it as one?

  • @Jokes100.
    @Jokes100. Před 4 lety +1

    Another good game I came up with is called 60 minutes assault. U got one hour to score as many 100+ 140+ and 180 scores. Only 100 or above scores counts. Add up totals at the end.

    Hello Sports Science Specialist and soon to be my darts coach...hopefully. I was wondering if you have read Make It Stick by Peter Brown or are familiar with a study by, I believe, R. Kerr and B. Booth, Specific and varied practice of motor skill, Perceptual and Motor SKills pages 395-401. The study showed that:
    A group of eight-year-olds practiced tossing beanbags into buckets in gym class. Half of the kids tossed into a bucket three feet away. The other half mixed it up by tossing into buckets two feet and four feet away. After twelve weeks of this, they were all tested on tossing into a three-foot bucket. The kids who did the best BY FAR were those who’d practiced on two-and four-foot buckets But NEVER on three-foot buckets.
    I was wondering if anyone has been brave enough to practice triple 5s and 1s but not the 20s...or if you see any crossover in these findings into darts.

    • @Edgartvdarts
      @Edgartvdarts  Před 4 lety

      I’ve not seen it but I would be interested in looking into his research documents. There’s so many variables with an 8 year old that would make the test difficult
