Thank you Olga. I learned a lot about neem oil that I never knew. For someone not knowledgeable of roses and need oil , I appreciate your information presented in a positive way. Prayers for your home country.
I am very grateful, dear Olga. You explained it in great detail. It will help me a lot. Many people in my country are bitter and sad about the war in your beautiful country. We pray for you. God bless you and your family! Greetings from Croatia!
I love the soundtrack of your videos, Olga!! Yesterday I removed all Ivy foliage from my Rose's arch and sprayed neem oil all over. Today It looks stronger and healthier already. I have the same pump sprayer bought from Home Depot and I did exactly as you recommended. I am enjoying your content so much. God bless your beautiful garden : )
Neem oil will still affect the honey bees. I grew a total of 172 different roses in Michigan and gave it up because of the danger posed to honey bees by the use of pesticides. When all is said and done Neem Oil is still considered to be a pesticide unfortunately. Spraying a strong stream of water is directly on the bugs early in morning works somewhat but not completely. I’m now trying to improve the soil to see if stronger roses may mean stronger resistance to pests. There is a dilemma here and it is this: Are we willing to endanger the honey bee 🐝 for the pleasure of growing the beautiful rose? 🌹
You can use a mixture of 1/3 rapeseed oil 2/3 water for aphids and white fly, it won’t hurt bees if you don’t spray them directly. This won’t be as effective as neem oil as it only kills aphids if they are coated with the oil, it will then clogg their airway so they die off. Only spray directly on affected area so you don’t accidentally kill useful insects. I use this method often and it works well, make sure to shake well before application. Great video and greetings from Germany:)
I'm zone 10a in Florida & I use neem oil at night/dusk so it doesn't burn my leaves. Morning is too risky for my climate. Just got rid of an aphid infestation on my roses a couple weeks ago. I also use it for spider mites on my patio plants. Works great.
@@OlgaCarmody Hi Olga! Love your channel. Right now I have 19 roses. I think my master plan calls for something like 56 roses all together. But you know time & money play a factor so it will probably be a couple more years before it all comes together.
@@OlgaCarmody oh yes mine have been blooming since March. I would say Charlotte is my favorite scent & Jubilee Celebration is my prettiest bloom out of what I have now. Mine are all David Austin now. Yes if you had a video where viewers submitted pictures of their favorite roses or something like that I would send some pictures. I don't have your confidence or good looks so I won't be starting my own channel 😅
@@bmoody82 Great! Please send photos to my email: gardeningwitholga@gmail.com. I will post an announcement for all the wieners as well. And let’s enjoy each other’s roses!
Timing is everything with Neem oil. Last month, I foolishly sprayed my baby roses for sawfly then left for a weekend trip not realizing the temps would jump up into the high eighties. I came home to burnt little babies. Thankfully I was able to save them with a good rinse and scrub to get the oil off. I was also too heavy-handed in the distribution of spray. They are now putting out new growth. Also Olga, I discovered the Bliss rose is fragrant! I know every nose is different but I read so many reviews about it not being fragrant. So I was over the moon to be able to detect a pretty strong Lemon verbena scent. Can't wait to hear your experience when Bliss blooms in your garden.
Olga thank you! Loved this video and I now subscribe to your channel. Unfortunately I found your video now, after my rose plant has flowered. I saw a few Japanese beetles on the flowers. Is this mixture safe to get sprayed directly on the flowers?
Hi Olga. I started to use a Neem oil mixture to control the Red Lily beetle that has become such a nuisance in North America. I now use it on all my rose bush cultivars: Hybrid Tea, Floribunda, Bush, Polyantha, Morden, etc. I'm hoping that it will prevent the many rose bush diseases this year. Today I discovered something has been eating my various Coneflower cultivars. I will try to Neem oil on them too. Could Neen oil be the 'magic bullet' for all garden plants? Je pense que oui. Thanks for your wonderful video tutorial.
I am doing it now at night with the outdoor light. Prime day today :). My Rasberry leaves have holes along with my roses and I want to keep Beatles off the blackberries
Does neem oil work on Japanese Beatles? I planted quite a few roses this spring and found out Beatles choosing flowers as their homes this summer . The flowers are ruined by the Beatles 😓
Hi Olga, do you spray neem oil solution every 2 weeks in summer too? I wanna fight off Japanese beetles and spider mites. Zone 5 Colorado. I will spray while Sun sets.
I love this video and was looking at the comment to see if anyone mentioned Olga's sprayer, then I see yours. Can you please share what is a battery powered sprayer? I will search Amazon too but didn't want to lose your comment, in case I have no luck on Amazon
Hi Olga, when you mix the solution, do you mean 1 gallon of water instead of a liter in your sprayer? I have a feeling it is a gallon not a liter. Am I right? Thanks.
I didn't see those in my area as of yet. Hopefully for a long time I won't get them in my garden. But it is all quite dreadful about those infestations.
Hm, I wouldn't spray flowers, never did actually. Why would you do that? Beetles are not really sensitive to neem oil, and a lot of bugs really attach leaves of roses...
Olga. I found these little bugs taking a nap inside my rose flowers with their heads inside the rose flower and butts out. It's kida cute and funny until I found out these pretty insects are Japanese beetles 🪲 😮

Good tips here. I agree about strong soil. Super important.
Yes I found out about neem oil being toxic to honey bees too. I practice biodiversity in my garden and never spray my roses.

Hi Olga, is it smart to spray once every 2 weeks as preventative spraying?
When can you start to spray on bare root roses?
I am doing it now at night with the outdoor light. Prime day today :). My Rasberry leaves have holes along with my roses and I want to keep Beatles off the blackberries
Does neem oil work on Japanese Beatles? I planted quite a few roses this spring and found out Beatles choosing flowers as their homes this summer . The flowers are ruined by the Beatles 😓
Hi Olga, do you spray neem oil solution every 2 weeks in summer too? I wanna fight off Japanese beetles and spider mites. Zone 5 Colorado. I will spray while Sun sets.
So far I sprayed 3 times, I am not a very punctual gardener. I try to spray after a period of heavy rains and don't follow 2 week schedule.
I use a battery powered sprayer, it has been a game changer!

Oh gosh, did I say liter? I am going to check. Yes, it is suppose to be a gallon!!
Got the CPM, planning as the shrub in zone 4, what's the mature sizes, and where should I plant it, full sun or half sun, thanks ?
Hi Judy, Crown Princess is big shrub. You are in zone 4 which is quite cold. Definitely full sun and huge winter protection. Good luck!
@@OlgaCarmody I appreciate you and will plant it in full sun tomorrow.
Can you spray neem oil at dusk or at night time
Yes that is when I do it.
Will this help if I already have Japanese beetles eating my roses?
Yes, Neem oil will might make rose tissues not tasty for beetles
I’m zone 6 Ohio. What do you use when it gets hot because the oil burns the leaves? It’s already 80° here.
Use it at sunset/dusk/night. I do in zone 10a Florida & works great. Sunlight can use the oil like a magnifying glass & burns the leaves.
Useful tip for gardeners in warmer zones. Thank you!
@@bmoody82 how long do you wait after sunset? I think the birds and bees are in bed by sunset but I’d prefer to wait than do it too soon!
@@adalineblythe9653 I do at right as the sun is setting so I can still see what I'm doing.

Always always use cold pressed neem oil
Agree!
Can it be sprayed on the actual roses? Nit just the leaves?
