- Sterling Price Holloway, Jr. (January 4, 1905 -- November 22, 1992) was an American character actor who appeared in 150 films and television shows. He was also a voice actor for The Walt Disney Company. He was well-known for his distinctive tenor voice, and is best remembered for voicing Walt Disney's Winnie-the-Pooh from 1966 to 1977. (Taken from Wikipedia).
Sterling Holloway guest stars in Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone" in an episode called "What's in the box", originally aired in March 13th, 1964.
My God, he really DOES sound like that!
QUIT CUSSING.!!.
Scripturegirl1990 Based entirely on your username and nothing else, I'm going to assume you're some hyper-religious Christian nutjob and ignore you.
I will not block you, however, because experience has taught me that people like you are worth oodles of laughs.
Seriously, though, lighten up. Words can't offend you unless you let them.
WATCH IT U CHRIST HATING MACHO.!!.
Scripturegirl1990
I don't hate Jesus, I hate people like you who completely ignore his message of love and tolerance in favor of one of angry fervor.
It was his natural voice...?
The moral of this story: never have your TV repaired by Winnie the Pooh.
Daniel Shull More like don't fuck with Winnie the Pooh. The main guy was an awful person to begin with.
Or Kaa, or Cheshire Cat, or Mr. Stork, or the adult Flower.
HotWax93 or Roquefort!
@@VGA24 I haven't seen that one yet, so I wouldn't know.
Especially by Kaa, he isn't to be trussssssted in
Sterling Holloway's small role was one of the best things in the episode.
If you ever hire Winnie the Pooh as your television repairman, make sure you pay him in hunny pots!
I just can't get over how that's his natural voice!
I could listen to Sterling Holloway's voice for hours....
Me too, to be honest.
Me to
Same!! His voice is one of the sexiest and comforting and soothing voices I’ve ever heard in my entire life
@@JenniferPoole.33272 It does sound fascinating. Like a feathery pompom, if it was a voice.
So weird to hear that voice coming out of a real person.
IKR?!?! Pooh Bear isn't a person, he's a short fat cute teddy bear!
Sterling Holloway was a good actor, but look at his smile he look's like Pooh and that smile cracks me up
john Wamsley said he was the human version of pooh
ya I remember he said that on The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh: The Story Behind The Masterpiece
yep that's right
So. Funny story.
When my cousin was young she was TERRIFIED of Winnie the Pooh. My uncle and aunt couldn't figure out why until this came on TV, like six-year-old her walked by, saw this scene and screamed "IT'S KAA!"
My grandma was scared of Pooh's voice too.
Pooh’s current voice actor, Jim Cummings, said himself that Kaa’s voice is basically Evil Pooh.
What an awesome guy. I met Sterling back in the 70's in California. A very nice man with a big heart just like Winnie the Pooh.
Grady P I can easily believe that! It bleeds through his ambiguous counter-tenor voice.
I envy that so much! I wish I could have met him. Was he around for a while or did you just get a brief glimpse? What was he doing?
Grady P huh so John walmsley was right
Grady P i wish I could have been around to have met him or something like that. He died shortly after I was born.
All these people who met him are VERY lucky
I always thought that was just a character voice. That’s how he actually talked.
I love how he could be subtly threatening just by smiling sweetly.
I remember him as a scientist on the original Superman TV series back in the 50's and 60's. His voice never changed. When I was watching Winnie the Pooh with my grandson, I said, Winnie sounds like that guy from Superman. I was right!
Sterling Holloway's lecture at the end of this episode is one of the scariest moments of twilight zone ever.
*"Fix your set okay, Mister? You will recommend my service, won't you?"*
Now imagine this being topped off with a Pooh Bear “Hmmph hmph hmph!” 🤣
@@davidw.2791 Or even Cheshire Cat's maniacal chuckle. "You may notice... I'm not all there, myself. Hmm."
He has such a unique voice!!
We of the older generation grew up with voice actors. Holloway's huskiness and Mel Blanc, Edward Everett Horton, June Foray and Daws Butler all had a major role in our youthful cartoon experiences. " Exit! Stage left..."
ik
I’m 32 and I love their voices as much as the voice actors’ voices from the 90’s and 2000’s and today
Love it. Uncle Charley before he was Uncle Charley. And man Sterling Holloway just gives me the creeps in this episode. His line at the end of the episode is priceless where he says "you will recommend me won't you?"
Whenever I hear Sterling talk, all I see is Winnie the Pooh!
Ditto.
Emily Sanders tell the truth that’s his normal voice
Well Sterling also played Kaa from THE JUNGLE BOOK, the Cheshire Cat from ALICE IN WONDERLAND, Roquefort from THE ARISTOCATS, and Mr. Stork from DUMBO
@@shubdawg70 and he also did, the adult version of Flower the skunk from Bambi
It's the Cheshire Cat 4 Mii.
That smile gives me goosebumps, even at 59 he's dreamy! Love you Sterling Holloway x
How about at 65?
Miss this Sterling silver voice of my childhood.
Pun intended?
@@LadyOfBroadway333 pun????
Uncle Charley gets his television serviced by Winnie the Pooh.
And this guy poor sap learned a valuable lesson that day: when you're in an episode of the Twilight Zone, don't fuck with the VA of the Cheshire Cat. Chaos will follow.
Hey it's Winnie the Pooh as the TV repair man
Ah, Sterling. I don't care that you were 59 when you did this show, You still died too young.
The look on his face!!! " do you?" Bruh don't mess with him! So freaking adorable!!!
He is most popular for:
The AristoCats - Roquefort
Alice in Wonderland - Cheshire Cat
The Jungle Book - Kaa the Snake
Winnie the Pooh
Blazing_Fox Also Mr.Stork.
Don't forget the stork in Dumbo
@@Johnlindsey289 Mr. Stork?
STERLING HOLLOWAY (CAPRICORN) (THE GOAT) IS AN EXCELLENT ACTOR WITH ALOT OF POTENTIAL
"Huh. You can't win em all "
"The set's ready and as far as payment goes, I would just like a small smackerel of HUNNY!"
Was trying to remember this episode and I think how it went was the TV
Sterling "fixed" suddenly began to broadcast events BEFORE they happened.
Love ya forever, Pooh!
I could hear Sterling Holloway’s distinctive voice for the rest of my life!
Well, I think the main thing we've learned today is...DO NOT piss off Winnie the Pooh.
Sterling Holloway was one of the greats with his voice and his looks. Wish he had done more TZ episodes.
Sterling Holloway. Just plain AWESOME.
Sterling's adorable. I can't help but imagine Kaa or Winnie when I listen to him :)
Seeing and hearing him speak always floors me; After hearing him from so many of his voice-overs for Disney I just can't believe that voice coming from an actual human being...!
I can't even LISTEN to Sterling Holloway without thinking of Winnie the Pooh!
"First you kill a 5 buck hour, then you say ya gotta take the set down to the shop--another twenty bucks..." lol idk why I find that funny.
At the very end, I thought he was talking to me O.O
What a charming voice he has. He can be adorable or creepy. I love his work.
Hard to believe he's 59 in this clip. Looks like he's in his early thirties, at best
Yep... born in 1905.
Wonder what his secret was to looking so young
Jack Hamilton If it wasn't just good genes, I would most likely attribute it to a healthy and active lifestyle.
Also, black and white film helps an actor look a lot younger too. Harpo Marx looks a lot younger in I Love Lucy than he actually was at the time
Heck, looking at some screencaps from silent fims he was in (not very many), he looked pretty young back then too. Looked a bit like a guy I went to school with in 10th grade, and said dude was a grade or two ahead of me.
Sterling Holloway is simply ADORABLE. :3
I would be more able to accept this character as a figure of menace if he weren't the VOICE OF WINNIE THE POOH.
He was Kaa too remember?
Johnlindsey289 Meh. Antivillain at best. Plus he did the Cheshire Cat and a few friendly side characters in Dumbo and the Aristocrats.
I just can't believe he was 59 in this clip.
@@1Up2081 You're right; Shere Khan was the villain in The Jungle Book; Kaa was more comic relief and, as you said, an antivillain.
"Your sets ready sir, but as far as payment Can You Stand On Your Head?"
😂🤣
When Sterling meets Serling.
Christopher Robin, I think Rod Serling wants me out of the Hundred Acre Wood.
Rod Serling?
@@ryanbearse8831 he created and hosted The Twilight Zone
Sterling Holloway.
The voice of Winning the Pooh ❤
...did Winne The Pooh just break the fourth wall there?
I love his voice so much, I guess it remjnds me of my childhood when he was the original voice of Pooh. I'm watching him now on Circus Boy & remembered the Twilight Zone episode he was on. Distinctive voice is so good!
I love this episode. Classic TZ all the way. One of the best from the last season. I really like the ending also where Sterling Holloway makes another appearance ;)
Sterling Holloway is one of the best actors ever! My favorite roles of his that he played are Mr. Stork (Dumbo), The Cheshire Cat (Alice in Wonderland), Kaa the Snake (The Jungle Book), and Winnie the Pooh, of course!
JIM.CUMMINGS is A WHOLE LOT BETTER, than this guy.
Um…okay. I do like Jim Cummings, but isn't that a bold statement?
Scripturegirl1990 That's an absurd statement. Cummings is copying Holloway's voice!
He was also in dumbo, and DA ARISTACAT'S.
And he was also voiced Flower the skunk (as a adult) from "Bambi".
God, I love Sterling Holloway. He could read from the phone book and I'd be entertained
Sterling Holloway.
hmmm...
i love that man
me to
Who knew Winnie the Pooh could fix TVs?
I'm sure we only paid him honey rather than money
Winnie the Pooh...he'll work for honey, even on your television.
I know he's the voice of Winnie-the-Pooh, but God help me, he can be so creepy when he wants to.
this is exactly cheshire cat behavior when everyone's saying winnie the pooh 😃
It's cool to see sterling holloway in action!
He doesn't look how he sounds at all. He was a great!
I Love Sterling Holloway
Me too
I'd recognize that smooth voice anywhere😊
These two appeared in "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World".
Mr. Stork, Cheshire Cat, Winnie the Pooh, Kaa and Roquefort.
He was in Bambi also.
As the voice of Flower the skunk (as a adult).
I would listen to his voice all the time.
From my home town shout out to Cedartown, GA
He had the perfect voice for being the shadowy, creepy repairman.
He was perfect, for the voice of the Cheshire Cat, and this proves it!
i just recently watched the jungle book and as soon as i head kaa, i was like 'waiiiiit…that's so familiar.' and then i was like 'woah, i know where i've heard that before! The cheshire cat!!' I can't even believe i had never noticed it before, considering it's 2 disney characters that are animals who are kind of crazy and who hang out in trees. it's so weird because it's 2 of my favorite disney movies. and then when i looked up to confirm on imdb (even tho I felt pretty damn sure) I realized he was winnie the pooh as well. was never a huge fan of winnie the pooh, but it still pretty much blew my mind. i'll never be able to listen to those characters again without thinking about it. haha
He was also in dumbo, AND DA aristacat's.
Scripturegirl1990 oh cool. i never saw those ones. but dang, I felt so dumb for never realizing it all these years with cheshire cat and kaa
Considering that Sterling had such a strange yet sweet-sounding voice, Kaa was the perfect sort of villain to cast him as!
@@daniellevinson6975 Kaa wasn't really a villain; Shere Khan was the villain in The Jungle Book.
@HotWax93 Episodic antagonists count as *minor* villains...
The next time your TV set is on the blink, when you're in the need of a first-rate repairman, may we suggest our own specialist? Factory-trained, prompt, honest, 24 hour service. You won't find him in the phone book, but his office is conveniently located in The Twilight Zone.
For some reason, I feel glad that Sterling Holloway is the TV repairman and not Joe.
For so many years, I could never tell if that was his real voice or not.
I was hoping that he would say 'Oh bother' at least somewhere in this clip.
I actually saw this episode of The Twilight Zone, the guy was always addicted to his TV and I guess whenever someone tries to turn it off. He goes absolutely Bonkers and Savage, and at the end of the episode the guy gets arrested.
And at some point at the end, they focused on Sterling Holloway for a little bit. And he gives a little sneaky look, to my knowledge I believe Sterling Holloway's character the repairman on this episode of The Twilight Zone. It's like a supernatural wizard, and makes the TV just cast a spell to the guy watching the television set.
Kind of like when you watch Christine, where the car comes to life and at the same time it's an evil killer car. That one the guy that bought the car, became so addicted to Christine, that the car casted an evil spell on its driver owner.
So I believe in this episode of The Twilight Zone, Sterling Holloway had a short role as a villain or maybe a minor villain from this episode. Similar to his role of Kaa the snake from The Jungle Book, where Kaa wanted to try to eat Mowgli
I feel like a loose end from my childhood has been tied up now that I've seen him actually speak
He also did the voice of Flower when he's an adult in Bambi.
Tony Saprano's great grandfather asks Winnie the Pooh to fix something
I wish this character managed to appear on the Disney channel sitcoms
Jack Hamilton to (o)oldhe died
warren byrne sadly yes but someone else can play the same character like Jim Cummings
Jack Hamilton jim cummings can't even play him as well as him (no offense ).
warren byrne no offence given, and I am a big sterling Holloway fan
Jack Hamilton me too .i've looking at some of his work recently did you know he was a disney legend?i don't mean that literally he was dubbed as one at a cermony
Sterling holloway and the guy who played uncle Henry in Wizard of oz
Kaa hypnotized that man into mistaking him for a human TV repairman.
I hear and see Pooh Bear.
I hear him MORE THAN C.
+LadyOfBroadway333
Kaa too
as a human that is
Don’t diss the dude who you let fix your TV because after all, you can’t win ‘em all...😈
Anyone here after hearing him briefly as Pooh in the new Once Upon a Studio trailer?
If he were still alive, he would be over 100 years old.
Good math 👍🏻
*KAA THE SNAKE CAN FIX YOUR TV!!*
TRUSSSSSST HIM! :)
Yep that's Sterling Holloway alright, He Later Voicing Winnie the Pooh in Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree.
All I can think of watching this clip is Winnie the Pooh
Sterling Holloway Is Very Handsome And Sounds Very Drowsy But Very Charming. I Blush Pink On My Cheeks Whenever I Hear Him With That Charming But Drowsy Voice Of His. For Some Reason I Found A Connection With This Man. Mostly Because We Have The Same Initials (SH)
P.S. I Think The Stork (Dumbo) Is Very Handsome; He Reminds Me Of Crane From Kung Fu Panda
Trust in meeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Lol
I no rite.?.
Holloway's role as Kaa mortified my cousin. XD She used to be afraid of Winnie the Pooh cause he had the same voice as Kaa.
It was THIS SCENE when my uncle and aunt found out. She walked by when this was on, stopped, and screamed "IT'S KAA!" then ran away.
So Kaa wants us to trust in him as a TV repairman?
Besides Winnie the Pooh, Holloway also voiced other legendary animated characters, including Mr. Stork in Dumbo, Kaa in The Jungle Book, Roquefort in The Aristocats, Adult Flower in Bambi and Chesire Cate in Alice in Wonderland.
Also as Burt on a episode of Gilligan's Island.
The timber of Sterling's voice lent itself just as much to a pedophiliac witch-snake as it did to all those lovable characters.
Also the voice of Flower the skunk (as a adult) from "Bambi".
@@daniellevinson6975Uhh funny you should say....and that's all I'll say
also he was Frack in Fun and Fancy Free or something
the mouse from the Aristocats!!
yes of course :) let's not forget winnie
am just imagining winnie the pooh working on some random guys tv now. 😂
Hah I was half expecting him to either hypnotize me with his eyes, stand on his "head", or say "stuff and fluff"
In this episode Sterling's character was more like Winnie the Demonic TV Repairman From Hell! Sure, he isn't identified as being demonic, but think about it: He "fixed" the television (really _cursed_ it) in such a way as to make a bad marriage go much, much worse, and ending in the horrible deaths of both spouses, one falling out of a window several floors off of the ground, and the execution of the other for murder. The help of the repairman was a contributing factor to the mayhem that would ensue.
If they remake this episode somehow, they better get Jim Cummings to play this part.
Sterling Holloway I know him because he as my favorite character Kaa.
"You can't.....Winn' 'em all...."😉
I never knew that Pooh Bear was a TV repairman.
Winnie the Pooh meets Uncle Charlie!!!
He is the voice of the cat in Alice in wonderland.
The Cheshire Cat, of course.
Hey that’s the old man from That Darn Cat!
I do love his voice. I wonder how it got like that, or if that was the voice he had even in his young days.
